Popular Post JAGolfore
In this thread I am going to log all of my tournament rounds. It’s going to be an exciting year and I am looking forward to it. A little bit about who I am. I grew up in western Pennsylvania playing a shorter course in the small town of Kane (Kane Country Club). This is a shorter (6000 yds) course but very tight and small greens. It was a great place to learn the game and grow up. I was lucky enough to play good golf in high school and earned a scholarship to play at St. Bonaventure University. I went on to have a very nice carrier there ( https://gobonnies.sbu.edu/sports/m-golf/2016-17/files/Golf_Career_Scoring.pdf ). I still hold the records for most wins (5) and lowest year scoring average at 73.0. From there I failed horribly at trying to play professional golf. I went out on my own didn't have a support team, slept in my car and never made a cut. I went back home with my tail between my legs and started over. I didn't play events for a few years as I was trying to find the fun in the game again and with help from my wife (she plays too) it has become a lot of fun again. I know I will never play on tour, but it is fun to try and play in these events. I can still compete and score. If you followed along here last summer on by Ping G700 iron review, I shot a 60 to tie our course record. This is my 2nd course record as the other is at the course I grew up playing in Pennsylvania. A fun note, I have 2 course records (60 at Urbana CC tie with Steve Stricker and Dylan Meyer & 61 at Kane Country Club) but I do not have any hole in ones. This summer I hope to be 100% healthy again and I am looking forward to playing in a lot of events. Feel free to ask any questions and once we get rolling this spring these events will be updated below. If live scoring is available I will post a link next to that event. Thanks to MGS for letting me post here and I hope everyone enjoys the 2019 golf season. 2019 Tournament Schedule May 6th - CDGA Mid-Amateur Qualifying, Kankakee Elks Country Club - 81 (+9) DNQ* May 13 - US Open Qualifying, Illini Country Club - 82 (+11) DNQ June 5 - CDGA Amateur Qualifier, Pontiac Elks Club - 73 (+1) 6th Qualified June 8-9 - Naughtin Open, Lake of the Woods GC* - 71 - 77 - 148 (+4) 3rd place June 15-16 U of I Open, University of Illinois Orange Course - 72 - 69 - 141 (-3) T-4th place June 19 - Illinois State Amateur Qualifying, Hickory Point Golf Course 75 (+3) T-10 DNQ June 24-27 - 100th CDGA Amateur Championship, Glen View Club 77 - 70 (+3) T-22 Did not make Match Play July 24 - Illinois State Mid-Amateur Qualifying, Ironhorse Golf Club 71 (-1) T-2 Qualified July 27-28 - Twin City Championship, Urbana CC and Champaign CC 74 - 71 - 73 (+4) 218 1st Aug 10-11 - Club Championship, Urbana CC*** 72 - 70 (-2) 142 1st Aug 13 - US Mid Amateur Qualifying, Omni Interlocken Golf Club Broomfield, CO 76 (+4) DNQ Aug 20-21 - 27th Illinois State Mid- Amateur Championship, Stonebridge Country Club 72 - 76 - 74 (+6) 222 T-22 Aug 25 - UCC Couples Club Championship, Urbana, IL* 73 1st As of right now if I play well I will have just over 20 tournament rounds in 2019. Golfspy_CG2
This will be great. Thanks for doing it. Of course you know my first question ? Will the G700's be starting the year in the bag. Or were they just a very good run in 2018 and time to go back to something else. I'm sure you probably have a WITB planned for each tournament. fixyurdivot
That's a pretty damn good resume there @jacustomgolf! Good luck in 2019. I subsequently got to thinking that you're better off being in the winners circle as an amatuer as opposed to (possibly) being at the tail end of those on a PGA tour, barely covering costs. There was a guy I worked with at Boeing who was a near scratch player, played many tournaments, and won lots of stuff. When I was looking for my first metal driver, he brought me out to his car, opened the trunk (loaded with gear), and said pick a few to try. When I said I liked the GBB, he said it's yours! I have a different shaft in the Sub70 639 CB's that lets me hit the ball a little higher. They (639 CB's) are very soft and I do hit them higher than my Srixon irons but still can hit them lower if needed. I am still waiting on the 639 MB's to fill out the lower irons 7-PW. There still might be movement back and forth depending on how quickly these get on the conforming list as well. I expect by mid summer to have the Sub 70 irons in the bag full time. JAGolfore
Well today did not go as I had planned. Perfect day, not great course conditions and a bad golf swing all make for a sunny but bad round of golf. I ended up shooting an 81 (+9). This is my highest round in competition in a very long time (years, do not know how many). I am not sure what happened but I know what the flaw is and will work it out in the next week. Here are my stats for the day. Fairways - 9/14 64% Greens - 8/18 44% Putts - 33 I missed 7 greens from inside of 140 yards. This just cannot happen. Especially in tournament play. I did not play a practice round and I think that I should have. The green complexes were very complex and misses in the wrong area were punished. Golf is a very funny game. I was playing really well going into this event. Yesterday at my home course I shot a 66. Same distance and almost same conditions. But this is why I play tournament golf. Its easy to play with your friends and score. Its another animal in competition. I hope to rebound for next week as I have my US Open qualifier next Monday. I like that course and have played it many times. Didn't get many photos today, but I will next week and I hope to have a better write up. cnosil, MaxEntropy and JohnSmalls 3 Quote Driver: Callaway Rogue 9* FW: Sub 70 Pro 4 wood Hybrid: Sub 70 949 Hybrid 19* Irons: Sub 70 659 CB 4 - 6 Black 639 MB 7 - PW Wedges: Sub 70 JB - 50* 54* & 60* Putter: Odyssey White Hot #2 Ball: Titleist Pro-V1x Handicap index: +3.9 Instagram: joshandersongolf Twitter: @jacustomgolf

B81Smith
Yea the CDGA qualifier was rough - weather wise. shot 83 DNQ! First time trying though. I've been out of competitive golf since 2011 so I figure its just growing pains. Hope to see you in the Illinois MId AM! good luck Josh. That's an aggressive schedule lol. I'd hate to have to pay for all those qualifiers ! $$$$ JAGolfore 1 Quote Ben S Hailing from N Aurora IL WITB: Putter: Mizuno by Bettinardi BC1 w/SuperStroke MidSlim 2.0 Flamed finish (1 Degree) Driver: Ping G – Mitsubishi Diamana Blue 73 X (10.5 Degree) 3 Wood : Callaway Epic Flash – Mitsubishi Tensei AV Blue 75 S (15.5 Degree) 3 Hybrid: Tour Edge CBX 119 – Project X EvenFlow Black 85 S (18 Degree) 3 Hybrid: Ping G – Mitsubishi Tensei CK Pro Blue HY 86 S (19 Degree) 4 – GW: Ping i210 - Oban CT-115 X (22.5 - 50 Degrees) SW: Titleist SM7 S Grind - Tour Chrome - Stock S200 (54 Degree) LW: Titleist SM7 D Grind - Tour Chrome - Stock S200 (58 Degree) All Grips: Winn Dri-Tec Midsize - Gray/Blue w/ 2 extra wraps low hand Customizing: Lime Green/Hot Pink Custom Paintfill - all clubs White ferrules with Blue Stripes from Cell-Parts.net Irons fitted & built by True Spec Golf Custom Headcovers from Sunfish Golf PING White DLX Cart Bag
