Really? Snowing in Southern Arizona?

This is just nuts!  We have a couple of inches on the ground now and the forecast is for a couple more days of snow and snow showers.  Now you have to understand that this is the desert!!  I admit that it is beautiful, but I am not used to seeing a golf course covered in snow!  We have a New Years day tournament on Tuesday and it looks to me like that may just not work out either.  For the first time in my memory (OK, So my memory is not that great) the course is closed for the day??  Say what?  This is Arizona!!

OK..Rant off..I know that lots of you deal with this stuff all winter long, but those of us who are spoiled with great weather most of the year have a hard time wrapping our heads around this particular weather phenomenon.  Heck I may have to find a pair of gloves to play in 🙂

Is part of So Arizona at elevation? I remember being in Tucson and Sierra Vista back in the mid 90s during the fall and talking locals snow wasn’t something that happened a lot but was a possibility.  I liked it there in the fall. Warm during the day and cool at night

It's been a cold (by AZ standards) here in Yuma this week.  I played in pants for the first time since we arrived in November.  Even in full sunny skies, yesterday's high of 58F with north winds at 16-20 mph felt Montana-ish.  But, all I have to do is check the weather at home to feel warm; -11F tonight and -21F tomorrow night with wind chill 😱.

Yes, Here in SIerra Vista we are at 4600 ft elevation.  The snow formed east and we ended up with nearly 7 inches on the golf course.  It will take a couple of days for it to melt and dry out ..just in time for another round.  We usually get a snow once or twice each winter, but not this much all at once.  Usually snow and melt in the same day and go play golf...today it is go walk the dog and watch him act crazy in the snow (he has never seen snow).  By Friday it is supposed to be in the 60s and that is WAAAAY better! 🙂
