I’m really killing it now at the gym . I have more time since I decided to put golf on the shelf until summer months. Just completely fed up with golf at this time

Remember, golf is just a game. And for many just a past time for getting out and enjoying nature-friends-and having a good time. Its a devilishly hard game when you want to get better.

By all means keep working out and stay in shape. But when your ready to play golf.Just go play and forget the lessons and struggles.Heck, maybe even forget score for a few seasons

Dont give up on it though

Just bumping this thread to see if anyone is still working at their push-up targets. I for one fell off the wagon - need to start up again.

... I wonder if some of you have fallen off the wagon because you are taking on too much? At 66 I need to keep doing my 2 sets of 25 because it keeps my core, shoulders, arms and upper back strong and in athletic shape and I think it is essential for playing good golf. I thought about trying to increase the reps but what I am doing is still difficult enough for me to reap the benefits, so I will just keep my current program a long as I can.

Prepping to move and moving is my excuse. Which isn’t much of an excuse. I got up to 210 a day before I was side tracked.

I really need to add in more stretching, core and lower body. Not sure what it is, but it seems since turning 34 a few years ago, I can’t recover like I used to. Extremely stiff joints and sore muscles every morning.

I did 100 a day up until the golf season kicked into high gear.  I now do 50 a day.  Doing 100 and playing golf causes my right elbow to hurt.  (I injured my elbow years ago and it flares up on occasion.)  It sucks to get old, but it beats the alternative.

I do have good news on the diet front.  I hit my goal weight of 187 pounds this week.  I started at 223 the day after Christmas.  I still have about 10 pounds of mayonnaise around the middle, so I don't have any plans to change my eating habits.

As to the 100 push-ups. Guess I'll have to be an honorary member as I only got through 50 today.

I did 100 pushups at my gym today!   Not all at one time yet however I did five sets of 20 military style.   I'm puffing out my chest like a stud bull in a pretty little heifers pen.   I usually do 60 during my gym visits (four times per week ) however today I decided to bump it up to 80.  I was doing my cool down stretches and thought, no way am I leaving without knocking out 20 more!  I'll be 69 years old this November so the old man is still humping it.  Hooah! 💪

You got it partner!  Exercise is so important in every aspect of our lives.  Two years ago there is no way I could do what I accomplished today.  Giving up alcohol 1 1/2 years ago changed my life in so many ways.

OG you're spot on - I think the older one gets the more important it becomes. I see so many guys my age (72) that struggle with balance, and even simple exercise such as walking at a reasonable pace. I know I can do more push-ups today than I could do at 60.

Great job Ole Grey. I did 80 myself today at the gym this morning. Four sets of 20, getting nice and low and slow. My damn shoulder gets me off of the 100 a day challenge. So I’m doing 80-100 3x times a week. For strength and core building. Push ups are really the ultimate. And adding in planks and pull ups ( if we can do them ) are one heck of a work out. I do believe a 100 a day for maybe 3-6 months would show some huge body changes in all of us

Keep it in the short stuff

Thanks Money!  Yea there are so many seniors who give up on their health when they get older where I see it as you need to step it up. If the good Lord permits there are still quality years left and to live to our fullest, we must take care of our bodies.

My balance is a large problem for me.  This part of getting old is hard to deal with however I figure a steady diet of exercise is the ticket to the majority of our issues.

Haven't seen any activity recently on this thread. Now that winter is kinda officially here wonder if anyone is taking up the challenge or has continued. If you have since the inception of this thread have you noticed a difference in your game?

I notice that every time this gets revived how bad I am at keeping a routine. It’s almost time for a whole new year of push ups, and I didn’t complete this one... time flies.
