Sub70 golf

I have their 3&5 woods and a 5 hybrid. Love the options they offer to customize each club without breaking the bank. They communicate very nicely durning the whole process from order to build and finally shipping. The customer service is top notch! They were out of stock on a shaft I wanted so they called asked a few questions gave a few suggestions and bam! The end product is one of the easiest to hit hybrids I’ve ever owned! Darn club doesn’t know how to hit a bad shot. Lots of nice touches when I received my clubs. Great shipping box, clubs well protected, hand written note from the owner along with logo tees and a ball marker! I started buying my kids clubs for gifts and they love them too.

Received my 3 hybrid Pro today. Looks pretty snazzy and can’t wait to give it a test ride. Actually it was a great day as I received my OG White Hot putter today as well.

Those look fantastic, waiting for your review of them. Wish I needed new clubs although did order a 004 putter from Sub 70 and am now more confident on the greens. Hit them well

I know I shouldn't care about looks, and the 699s are probably the best fit for my lack of skill, but I love the looks of the 639 CB in satin and black, and strongly prefer the look of the 699 Pros in black over the 699s in Satin... Decisions, decisions. LOL.

For anyone considering Sub 70 their customer service is great.  One of the shafts broke on my son's 639 CB set of clubs and I asked Sub 70 for help purchasing a replacement shaft.  Getting the correct tip diameter and trimming instructions is confusing to me.  Sub 70 promptly requested photos of the head and shaft and then volunteered to re-shaft the club for free.  It is great to do business with a company that would warrantee a club when the customer did not even ask for that.

I can’t stop putting sets together online despite being happy with my bag. A small amount of buyers remorse when I got fit and coulda just taken my specs to a dtc  like sub70. Really eyeing up the CBs.

I found the perfect clubs for me in another DTC set and they have been great but I STILL think about having a set of blacked out 639CBs all the time. I totally get that!

I have Ben Hogan clubs and they’re good and cheaper but are creeping up in price, so the sub70 looks more intriguing because their clubs get good ratings and are cheaper than Hogan. Would like to hear if Maltbie’s compare.

I finally had a chance to play a couple of rounds with my new-to-me 939X 4H in my bag. Love it! Rocket launcher!

Have stand bag and 2 wedges from Sub70 golf and love them all. You can demo their clubs before buying them which is a great idea. Before spending several hundred dollars on a driver or set of irons you can try them out. Might have to demo a driver next spring myself. I also like that you can customize your shafts and grips. Definitely worth a look into Sub70 golf.

I have more rounds in with 699 Pro's. Man do I like these clubs. Only issue is they flight very high. Sunday's round and the scramble I played in on Tuesday I had more than normal balls plug in the green even with it being pretty wet around these parts. Still my dispersion is better and better shots I know I made the right decision on buying these clubs. If you are on the fence about buying these clubs, feel free to jump over, you won't be disappointed. 

I have a decision to make tho, I am not positive on the shafts. I had them built with KBS tour 130 shafts. I went and paid for a shaft fitting after I received them and that guy said I should go with Project X LS 6.5/1250.  I have talked to Cody and he said no problem changing them out. After Bandon next week I'll decide.

You’ll want to get that fight down for bandon! So jealous that you get to go! I went last year and it was amazing! 
Also I did the same thing with my 699 pros, went to the kbs 120 after having that same issue with my ball flight being too high.  They swapped them out no problem.

Yes, i have been working on flighting the ball down and also working on a controlled draw.

There are lots of tips and tricks for playing links in the wind, I spent a summer working and playing at Bandon every day. If the wind is howling my best advice is to take 2 extra clubs and choke up an inch. Take a regular swing. 

As for the 699 Pro, great club! As for shaft change... If you are hitting them consistently center strike I wouldn't worry too much about changing shafts.

So I got in my Sub70 949x 4 hybrid with UST Proforce V2 shaft yesterday and took it to the garage today to see how it preformed and I don’t think the reviews that say rocket does it justice. I got it to go between my 7 hybrid and 3 hybrid. My 3 is usually between 210 and 220 and my 7 is 180 ish. Apparently the 949x has a warp drive because it was a consistent 240 and would be straight or I could fade or draw on command still playing with the weights but seem to like both slots with the heaviest weights.  So I guess my 3 hybrid will be my in between club lol. I will see how it preforms on the course this weekend but what a beautiful club it is.

I have both the 939X 4 hybrid (21* loft) and 949 Pro 5 hybrid (24* loft) in my bag, and I concur with you. I have not been able to hit a 20 to 22 degree hybrid more than 195-200 yards in more than a dozen years, but I hit that 939X 4 hybrid close to 220 yards on solid strikes. Yesterday, I played in damp 35-45 degree weather when I would have expected to get reduced yardages — and I did with most of my clubs. However, I hit several shots of more than 200 yards with that 4 hybrid, and a few of 185 to 190 yards with the 949 Pro 5 hybrid.

On one shot yesterday, I had just over 200 yards to the green, hitting from a slightly uphill lie in the rough, which should have given me reduced yardage. I didn’t want to hit my 19* 5 wood because the lie was rather sketchy and I was afraid of topping or chunking it, so I hit the 939X hybrid, hoping for a short chip shot from just short of the green (15-20 yards, at worst). Instead, I pured the shot, and it carried just past pin-high and bounded off the back of the green into tall fescue. I found the ball, but had to take an unplayable and a lateral drop. One of my playing partners said, “you were in there in three, right”. When I told him that I was in that deep rough/junk over the green in two, he replied “how did you hit it that far from that ugly lie in the rough?”  All I said was “4 hybrid “.

But I'm also curious how Fish's round at Bandon went and if he was able to keep his flight a bit more controlled.

4 awesome days at Bandon. Weather cooperated and we only one day that was misty with limited sprinkles. I wore shorts everyday and a wind breaker. The wind wasn't bad nothing to crazy, we did have to adjust a few times 2 clubs but it wasn't bad. I did flight the ball down a few times that worked out pretty good. The 699 pros worked awesome and can't say how happy I am I bought these clubs. I'm actually debating not sending them back for different shafts other than my 5 iron needs a tweak. I am not sure its correct angle/degree set.

I'm a 16 hdcp going into these 4 rounds.

Such a fun time and couldn't be happier with 699 pro's. 

I didn't use a caddie. A few guys did and don't think any of them were named Jack. One guy in our group did have a caddy and I get his number since he's from Portland.

Do you have any thoughts on your 4i and whether you'd like to change it to a 4U or 4H?

Those look great looks like you need a Sub 70 driver and 3 wood to fill out that bag. Interested to see how you like those

I really like the 4 iron. At this point I'm keeping it. I sent the 3 U back and got the 939 3 hybrid and pretty happy with that decision. 

 

I have a higher swing speed not sure if that helps or not, I also do not carry a 3 wood as the 3hybrid does that job.

I've been on somewhat of a frenzy for purchasing Sub 70 clubs lately, and I have absolutely zero regrets. My first purchase was the Pro 3 Wood with the Aldila NV NXT 75 X. That club is an absolute rocket launcher for me. I am hitting it at least as far as my Titleist TS3 driver, which is insane. With the distance and accuracy I'm getting out of a 3 wood, I'm no longer regularly playing with my driver.

In addition to the 3 wood, I've gotten the 949X 5 Wood, 699 Pro Utility Iron (17*), the TAIII Black Irons (4-PW), 286 Raw 50*, JB Raw 54*, JB Raw 58*, and the TAIII Wide Blade Putter. Each and every club performs just as well as any name-brand club I've tried and/or played. I can't say enough good things about this company. Happy to answer any questions if anyone is interested.

I took advantage of the CyberMonday sale and picked up the 849D Driver with UST PROFORCE V2 Black 6F3,  the 939X  3Hybrid with Aerotech Steel Fiber Hybrid HLS 780 F3 and 699 Pro Utility 19.5° with Aerotech Steel Fiber i80 Graphite. 

I only had a couple of outside range sessions before the Chicago weather closed the door on the outside season.  The clubs feel great,  I have to see how the gaps are between a few of the clubs.   I did join an indoor golf league at X Golf near where I live so I've had at least 3-4 9 hole rounds playing on the simulator.    Not exactly the same, but keeping the swing going and my hands in shape (no glove for me). 

I've hit the new driver and hybrid on the simulator and they both are forgiving and have distance built in.
