Syks7
Joined the Sub 70 club with an arrival yesterday. Unfortunately, I didn't buy them directly, which given everything I've heard is a bummer, but I stumbled across a combo 699 pro/639cb set on ebay Christmas day that was about to close for an absurd price. I took a flyer and ended up winning. They arrived yesterday and was intending to pull the shafts and resell them since they were x-flex then re-shaft. I figured I'd hit them today and see what they felt like before I pulled the shafts.... They weirdly work for me. A slightly lower more penetrating flight, but by no means too low, almost to a tee similar distance to my gamers and from what I can see out on the target greens they stick in a similar way. Go figure. I'm really happy because I bought them to force me into improving my strike and figured I'd have to grow into them, but now I think I might be able to put them in play much sooner than I had planned. Still some work to do, but I'm not as far off as my handicap would indicate. MattF
PSA: Quote Due to rising supply chain & shipping costs we will be implementing small price increases for 2022. These increases will go into effect on 1/17. Orders placed by 1/16 will receive the current pricing. This was posted by Sub 70 on their various social media pages yesterday. From a question they answered it'll be between 10-15%. That's a bummer, however, kudos to them for getting in front of it and letting everyone know ahead of time instead of staying mute and letting it happen. Hobert
Went to Golf Galaxy to get my numbers with a 7 iron (hit an Apex DCB). Based on this and my other info, Jason recommended a 699 (4-6)/699 Pro (7-pw) combo with KBS Tour 120 Stiff shafts and +1/4" length. Thinking about pulling the trigger soon. Then I ordered the 56 degree JB wedge bent to 55 degree. I have a 60 CBX. So this bend in the JB gave me even gapping. JFish350
Congrats on the sticks you are going to love them. As Tom the golf nut says, I don't even look at other clubs. When I ordered mine it took about 3 1/2 weeks. I was trying to decide between T200's and 699 Pro's. I don't second guess my decision one bit. My only issue is I went with a different fitter and not sure I got the correct shafts. I'll be seeing Sub 70 at the end of the month to make sure I in fact have the correct shafts. Syks7
Finished rebuilding the used 699pro/639cb set I bought and took them to the range. One for one yardage wise with the 4&5 iron with a negligible drop through the 639cbs (mostly due to slightly weaker loft). Non standard lofts that came with the set. I'll get them adjusted eventually. +/- 5ish yards. Nice Mid-high ball flight throughout the set that should be good for control. jdennish
Let me tell you about Sub70, I too had read about them and I was looking for some new wedges, so I said what the heck. They have a "no questions asked" return policy, that you can return them within 60 days. I was so impressed with the wedges, that I ordered a set of 5-A 699 irons. They felt great, but I hit them way too high. I called them and spoke directly to Jason and he and I talked a length about my game. We went over my current irons PXG and the shafts in them and he gave me some recommendations. I went with an upgrade to the AeroTech Steel Fiber I70. They paid for my shipping both ways andI got them back in less than 2 weeks. They are sweet, much better than my PXG's, which I sold. I have since ordered their 849D driver, sold my Ping 425 and last week I got their 005 Wide Blade putter, so solid. Their customer service is the BEST in the industry. They answer the phone and work with you. I have gotten a personal note, hat, ball marker and stickers on every order I have placed. Check them out, they also have a demo program for trying their products if you don't want to purchase without trying. I'm a Lefty and didn't have as much to chose from, but I'm telling you, if you are not hung up on having "name brand" equipment, their products are top of the line. gd4me
I've been following the Sub70 posts on this site for a while and finally decided to pull the trigger. I purchased a 949X 3 wood a couple weeks ago. I've played a few rounds with it and am very satisfied with the quality and functionality of the club. I chose an Evenflow Riptide (Black) shaft. They have a variety of stock shafts to choose from. The club is adjustable and has movable weights. There is a 60 day, full refund period, so there's really no risk. They also have a demo program that is really reasonable. All in all, great bang for the buck, so much so, I plan on picking up their 5 wood. The CS is excellent as well. MisterT
I have a Sub70 putter in my bag that I self-fit into and love it. I wanted a heavier head as my tendency is to go offline on the backswing and the Sycamore 002 Mid-mallet fit the bill. It was assembled and shipped quickly. The one thing I wish I would have done was review the options more thoroughly as I should have selected a larger grip. I have since purchased one which made all the difference for me. I also tried their demo program for the 699 Pro irons and liked what I tried, but didn't find much difference between them and my then-current gamers (2017 TM M1), so I stuck with what I had. It is likely that more Sub70 clubs will be in my bag at some point. Syks7
The maiden round with the 639cb/699pros didn't go as well as I'd hoped. None of it was the fault of the irons though. Approach and iron play was excellent, I just had a few Stupids off the tee, with the putter, and with the wedges. Love the feel & (feedback) of the 639cbs and the top end of the bag 4 and 5 iron 699 pros are rocket launchers. Can't wait to play again tomorrow.
