I have decided that buying last years clubs of amazon or hurricane golf to be a much better choice for the budget minded. BTW I play cobras which are always on sale for 1/2 price when they are one year old. I have found this company to be reputable but not a name brand club. I do take some issue with the idea that the 659's in CB or TC are completely unique though they certainly have some characteristics that help differentiate them from being a direct clone of anything. The similarities here may be purely accidental, but was something I noticed right away. The good news is that it just makes me want the 659's even more!!! I personally think this is the case across most OEMs. While there are some unique designs as you get into the muscle back, players, players distance, and maybe some game improvement they tend to blend together from a look perspective. I notice this quite often during most wanted testing when we are asked for subjective feedback When I think about looks my comment is they look the same. Those did not come to mind when I saw the 659s… I wouldn't have even known if I didn't game these J40's right now. Like others have said, it's not uncommon for irons in the players CB and MB space to share similarities. Without introducing tungsten into the equation, I'd imagine it's difficult to move weight around while maintaining feel and sound for a subset of golfers who are often very particular. I'll also make note that some of Sub70's other designs are definitely more unique. The 659 MB is unlike anything I've seen previously which was also the case with the 639 MB, 649 MB Tour, and the TAIII's (which are right there with the 659 CB/TC's in terms of what I'd like to put in the bag from Sub70). highdraw_osu
Just got back from a Trackman sesh with the new 659CBs, hit them great, unfortunately the bozo at Golf Galaxy set it up wrong so the data didn't upload into my account for comparison but the 6 iron to 6 iron from my fitting looked to be a few yard longer on the 659s than the Srixons. No complaints the clubs felt great and performed and felt very similar to the Srixon 7 and Apex Pro 21s I was hitting at my fitting a few weeks prior. The guys at Golf Galaxy were drooling over them a bit and asking a lot of questions about Sub 70 after watching me hit them (pretty slow day in there). No issue on dispersion either, saw a couple flyers that looked more like trackman data issues than real life, and the toe hits (my miss) only lost a few yards and generally looked playable. Hopefully I will be able to get them out on real grass here soon. But all indications as of now are these are the new gamers.
