Any feedback from the black 699 players ? Just wondering how the finish has held up.

thanks

Curious on this as well. Black was my first choice for my 659s, but went with raw for availability. Still may go black for my next set of they are around and available.

Curious if anyone here plays (has played?) a combo set of 699/699-Pro.  Interested in the new clubs arriving early next year, and curious what anyone's experience has been playing this, or if it would even be worth it (as opposed to full set of either).

Not sure if this necessarily tracks in shiny metal forum, but as far as recent sub70 purchases, I just picked up the new 949x fairway wood and it is perhaps one of the best 3 woods I've ever hit right out of the bag...no warm up to test and hit 5/5 fairways with it. Honestly feels like it wants to go only straight. I was always in the category of why hit 3 wood when it's not that much straighter than my driver anyways; but this one feels like it actually fits the mold of fairway finder. Haven't had extensive use off the deck yet to grade it in that aspect.

It's also far better looking than the website and feels spectacular; hearkens back to some of the callaway xhot fairways in terms of sound and feel: very much that muted "wood" like feel and "thwack" sound, alternative to tinnier metal on the other side of the spectrum.

Also doesn't hurt when, after an upcharge shaft, it's still 50$ cheaper than the big guys.

I just purchased the 3 wood after having test the 5 wood earlier this year. It has become my go to club of the tee /fairway.

Hoping the 3wood will permorm the same way.

Just dropping off a positive review for Jason at Sub70. I had email some questions about a very specific driving iron build that I had in mind, and he called me back same day on the cell phone. Talked to me for 20 minutes, answered every question I had, and ultimately had me going in a different direction as they couldnt achieve the specs I was going for. He pretty much knew that when he called, but wanted to take the time to explain everything. I appreciate that honesty and service. I was trying to give him some business, but I'll be back.

I put together a combo set --A thru 8 699Pro, 7-4 699...  I am very happy, but if I were to order a set today I would likely go Pro for the whole set for no particular reason really.   I really hit the Pro's well--not sure if I hit the Pro's well or if I just hit the shorter iron's better--LOL.   I really don't think you can go wrong either way.  I know Sub70 recommended the combo set to me  ( it was appropriate given my limited experience ) and  likely has helped.

Next set I buy when I am a little more accomplished is likely to be some other combo set---thinking 659 TC/CB's in black would be nice.

I have the black finish on their 286 50*, 54*, and JB 58*. The finish looks good, especially at first, but I have a little bit of an adjustment period coming from my black Vokey's. Vokey is lighter black, like charcoal, compared to the Sub 70 which is pretty standard black. I've had my JB 58* for a little over a season and it is very much my go to around the green and 60 yards and in. I try not to swing a full wedge if I don't have to. The finish is definitely wearing away on the face on the lower half. It is wearing away on the sole some also. I use it at the range and in bunkers so it is pretty well used. The face almost looks like a raw finish in the spots that are "exposed" now. But there is no rust - mostly just metal coming through the black finish.

I have the JB wedge in black and my OCD gets the best of me when the finish wears off or scratched from the bunker sand. I found that gun blue works great getting it back to new looking. Any gun store, DSG or equivalent has a bottle. Just clean, rub it on and it's good as new.

Just got an email about these, and color me interested. They look great and have me very interested in buying, even though I know I should wait and really get to test them before buying. Thoughts for folks, feeling like a full TAIII set and wedges would be a great look personally. Not in the cards financially, but hey if we need some testing I am happy to make the sacrifice and be that person.

It is understandable though. Usually LH stuff comes out later on as we just don't make up a big enough market. However Sub70 is one of the best at providing LH gear.

I reached out to them on IG and what I was told was that they haven’t heard anything on LH models but it’s certainly a possibility if they sell well 🤞🏻

I am excited to say that I ordered a 54 degree LB TAIII wedge last night.  I wanted it in black but they are out in most options and I think in the hard AZ conditions I play in the black won't hold up as well anyway.  I am very excited to get this wedge and try it, it is the best looking wedge I have ever seen and I hope it plays well.

I am excited for when some additional lefty wedge options come out.

I've just been super impressed with them as a brand and company. Would have no issue doing a full bag fit and seeing how it would go with a Sub70 full bag.

I bought a Sub70 putter for my son who wanted to try out a center-shafted wide blade. The quality of this putter is way above what I expected for the price. I haven't tried their other clubs, just the putter, but so far I'm very very impressed and would go to them for other items. As a lefty I appreciate the Left-handed options also. Not all of these smaller DTC brands have LH options. So kudos to them.

I have a limited experience with Sub 70 but it has been quite positive.

I bought one of their putters a little over a year ago . The whole process was positive from start to finish.

It is a very nice putter and the price was great. Customer  service was first rate and the special little touches

made it all the better. Definitely will be looking at adding more of their products to my bag.

Curious if anyone here plays (has played?) a combo set of 699/699-Pro.  Interested in the new clubs arriving early next year, and curious what anyone's experience has been playing this, or if it would even be worth it (as opposed to full set of either).

I play a 699/699 Pro combo set. Love 'em.

I am excited for when some additional lefty wedge options come out.

I've just been super impressed with them as a brand and company. Would have no issue doing a full bag fit and seeing how it would go with a Sub70 full bag.

I'm with you on this (I guess I am largely on the way anyway).

I am with you as well. I have a TAIII wedge on the way and if I were buying my driver over again I probably would have ended up with an 849D.

The one item that will be the most difficult to switch out is my putter.  I love my LAB putter too much right now to consider changing.

I hear you. If this fantastic forum hadn't provided me such a great testing opportunity (Fujikura MC shaft with choice of Evnroll) I would likely have the Sub70 002 Mid Mallet in my bag. I have ready so many good things about the putters. Would be hard to find a better bang for the buck out there it seems.

I received my new TAIII wedge over the weekend and I am super excited to try it.  The first time I will use it is this week playing at Bandon Dunes! How is that for a first round?  Our group is playing all 6 courses in 3 days so I should get a really good feel for it over this week.  I ordered it hoping it would make it in time for my trip to Oregon this week and it is here, thank you Sub70.  It looks a as good as advertised.  The grooves look great and the initial feel and sound around the house are great. Can't wait to try it out.

So far I am very happy with it.  It has a good feel. I am happy with the spin that it generates even when it is wet. I played 3 rounds in the rain and one when it was dry and it felt good and responded well in both conditions.  I have to say that I have a little more confidence with it because I like it and love the way it looks, it may sound a little silly but I just feel good with it.  The sand play was a bit of a challenge but I wouldn't say that was the fault of the club. I am used to very different sand and I am not great out of the sand anyway so I was not as successful as I would have liked, but when I played the sand correctly the club did its job.

My brother and nephews were impressed with the looks as well.

Overall I am happy with the club and I love having something so good looking and unique in my bag.

Thanks for the feedback and good to hear.  I don't need wedges but wouldn't mind having a 54 and 58 in these. in case anyone is feeling particularly charitable....  LOL.   Honestly--they look the part and likely play the role and would love to be Sub70 exclusively as far as the wedges and irons go.

I was one of the MGS testers for the Sub70 Fairway woods last year, and remain very impressed with the 5-wood I tested.  I'm considering changing out my 5-year old driver, and have just ordered a Sub70 849 Pro driver through their demo program.  I'll have 10 days or so to evaluate the club.  If I send it back, the total cost to me will be $20, if I keep it its just $200.  I haven't read this whole thread, and haven't heard a lot about their drivers, so I'll so my best to report back my impressions.

I have a couple of their wedges, which I love.  So when my driver broke, I decided I'm going to give the 849D a try.  I have one on order, and am (impatiently) waiting for it to be built and delivered.  Can't wait to try it out.

Hey @GolfSub70  We are hosting a demo day at our course in a few weeks, from what I understand one of the first in the entire area to do so.  We'[re excited abou tit.

Just in the two days since it's been announced on our FB page, I have had more people ask me "What is the Sub 70 all about" in that time than I have in 5 years.   So that's exciting, to be able to share the store with them.

And to help promote and build the hype around it I figured why not go ahead and orde my very first "senior age appropriate driver"  LOL.....Looking forward to putting this to the test in my CG2 Driver Shootout thread.
