Callaway Epic Technology

I have a set of Nicklaus “The Bear” irons that I purchased new in the mid 90’s.  I recall hitting everything available at that time, but found nothing that outperformed them!  I couldn’t help but notice the similarities between the Linear Dynamics technology and the recent Epic irons design.  Am I crazy?  Callaway has obviously expanded on the design, adding new technologies, materials, etc.  Any chance this reiterates the effectiveness of the “old” technology?
