TESTERS ANNOUNCED: Galway Bay Rain Gear

Recommended Posts

Eric / Colorado - I travel a lot!

FJ 1/4 zip pullover with old Nike Pants that I recently ruined.  I'm in the market for full zip rain jacket and new pants.  I am really intrigued with your lined pants due to where I live but if I had to get 1 pair it would probably be non lined :-)

Too many to mention and I would love to say some exotic destination like last summer downpour at Hacienda Pinilla in Costa Rica but the worst was right her in CO with a little hail mixed in there.. Pebble Beach this Sunday was a walk in the park in comparison!

I wish retailers carried your product, it's hard investing in something I can't try on :-(

Tried to order pants and short sleeve jacket, but out of stock.  Would Love to test them, I play in all kinds of weather year round, anytime course is open.   Currently using FJ that is to big to fit over clothes.   Proficient at writing  Test reports in former Test pilot career.

Hi. Name is Russ.  I live in western South Carolina, so we get a lot of rain here, especially in the winter and spring.

Worst rain - I’ve played around the world and the worst was a torrential storm in Port Douglas,Australia where I was the only person on the course and when I arrived at pro shop after finishing, I found everything was locked up and no one was around. Found out there was over 3 inches of rain that afternoon.

I currently have footjoy rain wear.

1 - Howard from Illinois

2 - Nike Storm Fit Jacket and Columbia rain pants (pants desperately need an upgrade)

3 - I play pretty much year round, so cold and wet conditions are just part of it. The worst rain I ever played in was during a huge scramble in the summer. Afternoon storms rolled in and the course didn't want to issue rain checks for everyone, so they never blew the horn. Raining so hard that sheeting water on the greens caused putts to throw up rooster tails, and putting cups filled with water. Didn't find out till later that a tornado had touched down about a 1/2 mile from the course. Imagine the storm from "Caddyshack"

Nike Rain Gear

39 degrees out with a steady sprinkle that was just enough to keep you cold and uncomfortable. Have also played in steady rains when it was 90+ degrees making the air super heavy and sticky (seems to be pretty wet around here year round)

1. First name/home state or province - Jason, California
2. Current rain gear - Footjoy Dryjoy XP
3. Worst rain you've ever played in - I've been to Scotland three times but the worst was at Elie.  Started to rain on the second hole and never stopped.  By the time I made the turn my new rain gear had failed.  Sideways pouring rain on the back nine.  We finished though!

(4) TESTERS WANTED!!
Gallaway-Bay-1.jpg

Galway Bay Rain Gear

Looked kinda cold and wet out there at Pebble over the weekend, didn't it?

I'd guess staying warm and dry as a spectator would be pretty important, wouldn't you? And never mind the players!

I'd guess a lot of folks tripled up on pants at Pebble - some long johns, regular pants and them some pull-on rain pants. That's three pair of pants (if you count the long johns). Would just one pair of warm, waterproof pants be a better way to go?

That's what Galway Bay thinks, and they say their pants are just the ticket.

TESTERS WANTED!

Galway Bay came out of nowhere to tie for top honors in MyGolfSpy's Best Rain Gear testing last year. Our testers loved the fact the rain pants were actual pants, with belt loops, pockets, a zipper -  you know, pants - that were also waterproof. the rain jacket was a top performer as well, with plenty of ease of movement, lightweight and snazzy looking.

That's what our testers thought, but we want to know what YOU think. That's why we're looking for FOUR of you to test, review and keep a set of Galway Bay rain gear - fitted, waterproof slacks and a rain jacket (valued at a over $470).

This review opportunity is open to any avid golfer in the US or Canada who's not averse to playing in a little rain.

I have an Underarmor jacket and some light off-brand pants.

While I have been fortunate not to have encountered fowl weather in England,Ireland or New Zealand. I have been caught in mid-Atlantic thunderstorms where the rain was falling sideways. If fortunate to test this spring and keep, the suit will be packed for a fall trip to England.

I currently use a footjoy hydrolite short sleeve sport windshirt and a Columbia Rebel Roamer Rain Pant.  I also carry the Gustbuster umbrella.

Playing in the midwest means that spot storms pop up on a regular basis.  Last year we were walking a nice little nine hole track and storm came rolling in as we were finishing hole 3 (furthest hole from the clubhouse).  It started with those big rain drops, you know the ones that indicate you are about to get a thorough wash-down, then within the next two minutes the wind picked up to the point that an umbrella was useless.  Behind the storm front was a constant wind and light rain so we marched through the next 6 holes.  My old umbrella was dislocated and I have a strong mental note to always carry some rain gear in my bag.

I play in all conditions and I like to use the rain gear when it is raining or just wet conditions; nice to be able to grab a hose and spray off the pants then dry with a towel after a round of golf.  Do not want to ruin any nice golf clothing because of sloppy conditions on the course.
