suppon83
1. First name/home state: Juro/California 2. Current rain gear: Footjoy 3. Worst rain you've ever played in: It was a rainy day with thunder in California that I regret I went for it after golf course staffs warned me not only its condition, but there was no refund. Rain, I could handle... so I thought. But I realized it was mistake when 1st green was topped with flowing water. And then here comes 2nd hole, thunder was really loud and I felt how dangerous it was to be out in the course that I ran under the biggest tree to hide, for a good half hour. My round finished before I finish 2nd hole. Juro Kiyama

Count
13 hours ago, GolfSpy Barbajo said: (4) TESTERS WANTED!! Galway Bay Rain Gear Looked kinda cold and wet out there at Pebble over the weekend, didn't it? I'd guess staying warm and dry as a spectator would be pretty important, wouldn't you? And never mind the players! I'd guess a lot of folks tripled up on pants at Pebble - some long johns, regular pants and them some pull-on rain pants. That's three pair of pants (if you count the long johns). Would just one pair of warm, waterproof pants be a better way to go? That's what Galway Bay thinks, and they say their pants are just the ticket. TESTERS WANTED! Galway Bay came out of nowhere to tie for top honors in MyGolfSpy's Best Rain Gear testing last year. Our testers loved the fact the rain pants were actual pants, with belt loops, pockets, a zipper - you know, pants - that were also waterproof. the rain jacket was a top performer as well, with plenty of ease of movement, lightweight and snazzy looking. That's what our testers thought, but we want to know what YOU think. That's why we're looking for FOUR of you to test, review and keep a set of Galway Bay rain gear - fitted, waterproof slacks and a rain jacket (valued at a over $470). This review opportunity is open to any avid golfer in the US or Canada who's not averse to playing in a little rain. HOW TO APPLY: As you know, we take our Forum Member testing VERY seriously here at MyGolfSpy, so please read this instructions VERY carefully and apply ONLY in this thread (applying in the Comments section of the blog, while a nice gesture, doesn't count). To apply, please tell us the following: 1. First name/home state or province 2. Current rain gear 3. Worst rain you've ever played in We'll be announcing our testers in this thread next week, so make sure to check back to see if you've been selected. Good luck! emgeebee
My name is Mike and I live in Michigan, for starters that requires us to play in foul weather due to a short season. I play about 70 rounds a year and rate golf courses for the Golf Association of Michigan/USGA about 30 times per year. One way or the other I get caught in serious weather: cold, rain, sleet, snow, thunder often. Once we start a rating, we don't stop except for lightening. The worst was being called off a Lake Michigan-lakeside golf course due to lightening three times in a gale force storm. We returned each time to finish the job. Next worst was a sleet storm at an northern Michigan course. Sleet was flying sideways making Pebble Beach yesterday look like a picnic, wind speed in the 30's and windchill near zero. My current rain suit is a Sunderland jacket and FootJoy pants. Michigan is a perfect place to test Galway Bay foul weather gear any time of year. Jalapeno
Dave/Texas Footjoy Dryjoy & Snake Eyes I played Bandon Trails in weather that most sane people wouldn't go get their mail in. 4 hour round. Rain pouring like someone was blasting you in the face with a water hose the entire time. Wind? Gusts nearly blew me over during my swing. Going back end of March so perfect time to test. erinehart
Edward-Virginia Foot Joy Worst rain experience was in 2004 during a PGA PAT. Little Bennet State Park golf course. As soon as I put a tee in the ground on number one the rain began, and got steadily worse over the next hour and a half. I was wearing a Foot Joy Premier rain suit, top and bottom, and by the time I reached the 7th hole at 2 over the rain was so heavy the saddleback green had a small river running off the front. When I hit my approach shot into the green it splashed and was promptly washed off the front of the green. When the PGA rules official saw this he stopped all play. Thankful for this choice on his part as my rain gear had begun to give out on me. I was soaked from the neck to waist, luckily my pants worked great. Lesson learned here is never go cheap on your rain gear, ever.

armour248
Jay, Illinois Secondhand Zero Restriction Gore-Tex set I've played entire 4+ hour rounds in consistent rain and dozens of rounds where torrential downpours came in and wiped the course out for the rest of the day. 100 rounds per year in the Midwest will present plenty of opportunities for heavy precipitation
