How long have you been playing golf? Monthly hacker about 25 years ago for a couple years. Had kids and didn't even see my clubs for 14 years until spring of 2022. Have played roughly 60 rounds in the past year.

What’s your handicap or normal score? Official handicap is 18. Have recently broken through 90 and want to get into low to mid 80's.

What do you love about golf?  Everything. The scenery, the serenity, the challenge, the constant strategy needed. Everything.

What brings you to MyGolfSpy? Do you already know any other Spies? I do not know anyone personally but have been following the various reviews from the site for some time. 

Where are you from? What is your home course? Lexington, KY - Kearney Hills is the better local municipal.

What are the best and worst things about golf in your region? Best is scenery. Worst is winter.

What do you do for a living? I work in IT.

Hey folks!

New to the forum. I played golf growing up...honestly wasn't very good. Almost 2 years ago I started working for a non-profit that runs 4 golf courses, so I've started playing more. I've come down from round of 120-130 to rounds in the high 80's and low 90's. Current handicap is 15.7. I usually play a couple of times per week with a range session and some practice at home. Progress this last couple of years has been steady but felt glacial or non-existent at times. Goes with the game I suppose. Lessons have really, really helped though. No way I would have made the progress I did without them. Both my sons play golf (ages 7 and 10). My oldest especially loves the game. He and I played our first Father-Son tournament in June. It was a learning experience for sure, but a good first run for the two of us. Interesting challenge to be teamed up together and really have to rely on each other. 

What do I love about golf? The mental game, playing and spending time with my sons, the connections made with others during a round. I think I played almost 18 months consistently before I realized what this game really is about. It's been such a journey learning to play to mental side, manage the course, deal with and manage emotions on the course, etc. Once I realized what game I was really playing it got a lot more fun and now I'm, as my wife says, obsessed.

What do you do for a living? I'm a training manager. I coordinate and teach courses, write content, coach and develop leaders, help drive our company Fundamentals and culture. 

What are the best and worst things about golf in your region? Best is for sure the year-round golf. Worst? Well, it's gets hot!

How long have you been playing golf? What’s your handicap or normal score? I started playing golf in my 20's (57 now). I try to play at least once a week, and more if I can fit it in. My handicap is about a 7.5, and my normal score is between 78-85

What do you love about golf? I think what I love most about golf is the camaraderie with my "boys". When I am home I play in the same Saturday group I have been playing with for 30 years and it is great to get caught up with everyone..  and the razzing each other is non stop. 

What brings you to MyGolfSpy? Do you already know any other Spies? I originally signed up for MyGolfSpy because I saw a "Testers Wanted" ad on social media.. I haven't been selected for any test yet, but I am hoping to get more involved in the forums and one day see my name drawn. So far it kinda feels like the annual Master's ticket lottery drawing.

Where are you from? What is your home course? I am from Chattanooga, TN and my home course is Creeks Bend Golf Course

What are the best and worst things about golf in your region? The best thing about golf in my region is that we play golf year round.. We lose some time because of rain in the Spring, and occasional snow in the winter, but I have been playing golf the day after Christmas many times. The worst thing is the heat in the Summer..  it can easily push 95 with a heat index over 100, and the humidity in the South..  ugg.

What do you do for a living? I am a travel nurse, and work at hospitals all over the country. One of the cool things about being a travel nurse was discovering the Veterans Golf Association. Now I can play tournament golf with fellow vets where ever I end up working, and accumulate points for their end of year tournaments.

How’d you pick your user name? I used to own a mobile DJ business, and ChattDJ is still my online identity with most of my social media.

Hi everyone, my name is Andy. I've really enjoyed the content and reviews from MGS, as I'm looking to rebuild my bag after a long layoff from playing regularly. I've been playing golf since around 1st grade, but didn't really play much after high school until last year.  My family recently moved to Louisville and we joined Hurstbourne Country Club. Despite my increase in play, my cap hovers around a 24. I'm hoping to break 90. Some days that feels attainable, other days... not so much. I love that golf gets me outside and lets me stay active. I'm also enjoy the golf tourism and try to play every time I'm on vacation. I really enjoy golf in Louisville, though. The summers can be hot and sticky, but I can pretty much play year round. I'm originally from Wisconsin, so the winters here don't bother me one bit. My current job is taking care of my 2 year old daughter, but she gives me some break time to be able to play golf. My username is a nickname I acquired when I lived in Hawaii, as it was very clear that I am not from the Islands. Looking forward to hearing from people and learning new things!

My step dad introduced me to the game when i was 11 years old. Im now 43 and still love the game more everyday! I now have 2 kids that play and couldn't be more proud.

What’s your handicap or normal score?

I don't know my true handicap but I typically shoot in the mid 70's. 

What do you love about golf?

I absolutely love the mental fortitude it takes to be great at this game we all love. I also really enjoy helping people with theor game and teaching my kids. But if I had to pick one thing I love about the game the most it would be the people I have met along my golf journey and the life long friends I've made through the game.

After my short time (3 years) in the US Army I got into the manufacturing industry and have completed apprenticeships as a Machinist and an Electrician. I've spent the last 13 year as an Industrial Electrician.

I live in Florida but have a mountain retreat in NE Georgia.
Play at least 3 times a week, and at the range at least 2 times.
I am pretty much a Titleist fan: Driver/Hybrid/Irons/Vokey Wedges
Cleveland Huntington Beach 10.5C putter and a Cleveland 3 Wood round out the bag.

Still - with all that play and range time - a 20 handicap.  Suffering the vagaries of being 66 years old and just getting back into the game after a 30 year hiatus.

Nice, I play the same courses frequently. Just played Butternut Creek on Sunday and will be at Brasstown soon. If you haven't made the trip down to Blue Ridge to play Old Toccoa Farm yet, be sure to try it out. Such a hidden gem!

Hey everyone, my name is Pat and I'm based out of Charlotte, NC. I've spent the last 5 years completing a goal of playing a round of golf in every state before turning 30. Now with that behind me, I'm looking forward to playing more golf in the Charlotte area!

How long have you been playing golf? What’s your handicap or normal score?

I've been playing golf since 2012, and my handicap is currently 19. I normally score around 92-94, but also am really inconsistent with where and when I play. I think with more consistency and knowing courses better I could get down to 15 or so.

What do you love about golf?

What's not to love? For me, it's the constant pursuit of bettering your game, and being able to enjoy a game that combines sport and the natural world in one. Golf is always fun when it gets competitive and you can throw some jabs at friends, but for me, I enjoy it more when you can go out and relax, play a casual round with buddies, and enjoy a day on the course. Some of the best golf experiences have been when playing without expectations rather than playing with folks taking the game too seriously. I'm no Tiger, and won't play professionally ever, so why stress out after a bad shot? On to the next one!

What brings you to MyGolfSpy? Do you already know any other Spies?

Product testing, product reviews, and honest feedback from others on products! I don't know any other spies.

Where are you from? What is your home course?

I'm based in Charlotte, NC and the courses I play most frequently are Sifford as well as Revolution.

What are the best and worst things about golf in your region?

Best - NC has so much to offer...mountain golf, parkland golf, unique golf (e.g., Pinehurst), beach golf.
Worst - Public golf prices...really hard to find great value and good conditions. If it's a low price, course is probably in rough shape, and if it's in decent shape, it's pretty expensive.

What do you do for a living?

I do Corporate Communications and have worked in both the retail and hospitality industries.

I just finished playing a round of gold in every state before turning 30!

Welcome! I love AAC! I worked the 2011 PGA Championship there and got to play it the following year with a member I met while working. I was a better golfer back then, made the turn at +1 and a storm cancelled the rest of my 9 there. Never made it back to finish the round but went back to the 2021 LPGA Championship just to see the course again.

Hey, All

I am new to mygolfspy and wanted to make a quick introduction. Looking forward to connecting with everyone on here and greatly improving my golf game!

How long have you been playing golf? What’s your handicap or normal score? I have been "playing" golf since I was in high school. By "playing" I mean, I would occasionally go out with some friends and pretty much try and hit the ball as far as I could. No real intention or goal in mind. I would say right now I am somewhere around a 20 handicap. It has been awhile since I have kept one, even went a few years without picking up a club.

What do you love about golf? I love the challenge of the game and the pure "high" that comes from hitting a well struck golf ball that actually does what you wanted it to do!

What brings you to MyGolfSpy? Do you already know any other Spies? I am taking up a personally mission to really improve my gold game. I have never played golf comparatively, but I played sports all through high-school and college and this is my new arena to compete in.

Where are you from? What is your home course? I am in the St. Augustine, FL area (South of Sawgrass) and my "home course" is the St. John's County Municipal Course. 

What are the best and worst things about golf in your region? My area is fantastic for golf! Year round playing conditions and a good amount of courses available to play. Compared to places I have lived in the past, golf seems to be in much higher demand and more expensive to play. One can expect a weekend round of golf to take a very long time at the public courses. 

What do you do for a living? Currently I am a consultant, mainly in the O&G space.
