  2. What do you love about golf?

    1. You never play the same game twice. No one to blame but yourself. quest for improvement and perfection.

  3. What brings you to MyGolfSpy? Do you already know any other Spies?

  4. Where are you from? What is your home course?

    1. Alpine, Ut. And looking for a new home course. They are currently destroying mine to pay for an unnecessary club house.

  5. What are the best and worst things about golf in your region?

    1. Best is affordable golf in some incredibly scenic areas. The worst is the winter and having an off-season.

  6. What do you do for a living?

  7. How’d you pick your user name?

Golfer for more than 20+ years.

I am drawn to the game by the challenge of hitting a little white ball to the place where you want it to go (former HS baseball player).

Long time lurker, figured I have a bit of time on my hands now to be more active.  Don't know any spies (I think).

Grew up back East.  My home course with my golf club is Los Verdes Golf Course in Palos Verdes.  I don't play it as often as I would like.

Best thing about SoCal golf is that you can play 300+ days of the year if you have the time and money.  Most public courses are too crowded and American Golf's fivesome policy.

Currently unemployed as I was a COVID-19 layoff casualty.  I am an excellent Public Relations professional with great communications and event skills.

I wanted to do something exotic for my username, but I figured I would keep it simple for now.

"Every avid golfer has some Don Quixote ideas of competing endlessly to conquer the game of golf.  This is one of the reasons this game can be so addictive."

Hi there everyone! Fairly new member to the forum and wanted to introduce myself.

  1. I've been playing golf on and off for the last 10 years. My dad introduced me when I was a teenager, and I fell in love with it. Due to college and moving around, I've found it difficult to play consistently, but I'm in one spot (NorCal) for a while now and that should help my golf. My normal score is in the 90-94 range. I feel like I'm really close to being consistently in the high 80's.

  2. I love that golf is a game that you can never truly perfect. I'm someone who loves the process in things, and learning to do something different with my swing is enjoyable to me. I also love that, for me, golf is a time for me to unplug for 4+ hours.

  3. I came to MyGolfSpy about a year ago because I was looking for a trustable review for some clubs that I was looking to get, and I absolutely found it here. The way that the MGS team goes about golf testing and analysis is commendable, and I want to support that.

  4. I'm from Sacramento, CA, and my home course is Haggin Oaks Golf Club.

  5. The best thing about golf in my area is that we have a ton of courses within an hour of where I live. At one point I think Sacramento was rated a Top 5 city for the average golfer. The worst thing about golf in my area is that a lot of the courses really struggle with green maintenance throughout the year.

  6. I work in technical sales for a software startup based out of San Francisco (I work remotely).

  7. I lovingly refer to myself as a Duffer, I'm a Dad, and my name is Kevin :)

Welcome Kevin!  I've played Haggin Oaks in 2015 with a couple of local Spys.  Nice course!!  A flock of turkeys play there!!

  5. What are the best and worst things about golf in your region? Best - many public choices and Worst - Summer Heat

Nice! Yeah...i've actually been playing more golf now during this pandemic than I have ever before.  With my kid's activities all cancelled now, I'm free again on the weekends.  I play Sherwood Forest every saturday morning and then Dragonfly on Wednesday afternoons (I run a small Engineering Golf League).

Hello, I've been following on the Gram for a couple of years and decided to create an account and see where it goes. I'm originally from the Boston area, moved to North Lake Tahoe in 2005 to be a ski bum, and settled in Reno, NV in 2013. The area is great, there's golf almost year round down in Reno and the skiing an hour away in Tahoe is typically deep. There are desert style courses in Reno, mountain courses in Tahoe/Graeagle, and great traditional courses in Sacramento/Foothills all within about a 2 hour drive. It's very cool to play at all the different elevations and course types on a regular basis.

I've been playing golf since I was about 12, although from about 20-35 yrs old, it would only be a couple rounds per summer. About two years ago I got back to playing every week and sometimes a couple times per week. I usually shoot in the mid to high 80's with the occasional visit back to the mid 90's when my Budweiser short game takes over. I've been playing one length irons for 2 years now and I think they've helped my game tremendously.

I work in the apparel manufacturing industry as the Purchasing Manager for a Hunting/Fishing accessory company. I get to work with factories all over Asia developing new products, testing fabrics and materials, and managing work/cash flow and inventory.

I'm looking forward to having a place to get honest reviews of product, get travel tips, and hope to meet a few people to get out and shank some shots with. Thanks for having me!

Like many others who haven't posted as much, I'm trying to get more involved in posting. That said, hello from Ventura County, CA

  1. I've been playing golf over 40 years now. Current index is 12.5, lowest was somewhere in the 8 range.

  2. What do you love about golf? I love the personal challenge of both mental & physical aspects of the game, the camaraderie and friendly competition & just being outside

  3. I came upon GolfSpy as I'm always researching equipment and instructional tips. I don't know of any other Spiers, ...yet.

  4. I'm from Ventura, County, CA and I guess the closest home course would be Sterling Hills, but I also frequent Olivas Links, Buenaventura, Saticoy, Camarillo Springs and Rustic Canyon.

  5. The best thing about golf in my region is the moderate climate through most of the year. The worst part is the occasional hot+dry Santa Anna wind events whenever it blows above 25mph.

  6. I've been working in corporate/enterprise infrastructure IT for over 25 years, but currently unemployed/looking and considering a change into a different line of work.

  7. My NotZoro Username was derived from a play on words with a former employer's brand (the ISP, NetZero). My email used to be NotZoro@NetZero.net ...not very interesting or original but it stuck.

Howdy! I guess that's what we say here in AZ?

  1. How long have you been playing golf? What’s your handicap or normal score? Been playing since I was about 12. No established handicap but average mid 80's on most par 70-72's so I guess that might make me about a 13?

  2. What do you love about golf? By nature and profession, I'm a very critical thinker/problem solver. This whole game is like solving 18 consecutive  mini puzzles that are never the same each time.

  3. What brings you to MyGolfSpy? Do you already know any other Spies? I've been a member for a few years now. It was my initial curiosity with club making and interweb golf club investigation that led me here. It just seemed that the more I searched for answers about different golf related subjects, the more I found myself reading MGS responses as they seemed to be more candid and honest with nothing but respectful folks. Eventually I just joined to become a part of the community. I really only know other spies through regular discussion and banter through various threads. Nobody personally.

  4. Where are you from? What is your home course? I live in Chandler, AZ. Not really an AZ native but have lived here for over 25 years so we claim it as home. My home courses are really the locally recognized budget tracks.. nothing with TPC or Trune attached. Foothills, Kokopelli, Ken McDonald, Rolling Hills, Springfield, Western Skies, Superstition Springs, The Duke, etc.

  5. What are the best and worst things about golf in your region? The best thing is that there is absolutely no shortage of courses in the Phx area. The worst is that in the winter time, green fees nearly quadruple due to prime season.

  6. What do you do for a living? I'm a Mortgage Underwriter (Risk analysis)

  7. How’d you pick your user name? I'm from Arizona, my name's Stuart, and my DOB is 3/24... Hence AZStu324

Great name 😉 Also I love Arizona! I have so buddies that moved out to tempe and phoenix and plan to move there in the future.
