Waldorf Astoria Golf Club & Others in the Area

Ronoc

Recommended Posts

Going down to Orlando this Spring and will be staying and playing at the Waldorf Astoria Golf Club. Has anyone played there and/or heard anything about it?

Also thinking about getting into town a day early and trying to pay another course locally. Any suggestions in the Orlando area? Maybe a bit more reasonably priced.

Ronoc -   Yes I have played there and it is a fun track.  You won't be disappointed

Check out Orange County National which isn't too far down the road - Panther Lake is best track there but Crooked Cat is fun as well.  Heck why not try to play both!      https://www.ocngolf.com/

Mystic Dunes is another real fun track not too far from Disney property - https://www.mysticdunesgolf.com/

I played a couple of rounds at the Waldorf last November. The course was nice but the 2 days I played it was cart path only. I rented clubs and didn’t have GPS or a laser so it was a crap shoot getting yardages. I can’t remember why it was path only because it wasn’t wet but regardless bring some sort of measuring device for yardages because I couldn’t find anything on the course. Good news is the carts have GPS but the paths can be a long way from your ball. Lastly, don’t go long!

Try North Shore GC. We play it every year when we go to Kissimmee for a 16 Player, 4 Day Buddy Trip.

What date are you looking to play on your free day?

I will be down there March 9 to 13.  We are playing on March 11 at Grand Cypress New Course, our Assistant Super just played there last week and said it's phenomenal and a must play.    We have two spots left I think, as right now it's just me and our Super.

We will most likely be playing Sunday the 10th at Reunion Resort, where we are staying as well.   So we may have spots then too.

The invite goes to any of your Orlando/Tampa area guys who are interested.

Played Waldorf last year and the year before...

My memories from 2017 are better as the course was in pristine shape and just beautiful. Think Orlanda area courses had some burn, etc. last spring (went at the end of March) and the Waldorf was night and day different from the year before.

That said, staff was amazing and it was a high-end class experience overall. Would still recommend.

Like a few others stated, both Orange County tracks are great - We also played Eagle Creek, Shingle Creek, Grand Cypress and Champions Gate, all decent and enjoyable.
