Shoe Recommendations for Walking

TR1PTIK

Tried and returned the True Outsider shoes, just couldn't get my foot in the damn sock. Once I force my foot in, it felt pretty darn good. I now have the Footjoy Pro SL and these are pretty comfy to walk in, but I wouldn't do more than 18 in them. My next pair would be the Footjoy Fury or a Sketcher

Ha. 🤣

And just to be clear I was not in that bunker or any of the dozen others you see in the pic.

In fact on the Irish I was in one greenside bunker and two fairway bunkers all day.

As I've said many times, one advantage of being a short hitter is, I can't reach a lot of the trouble 😎

Thinking about a pair of the True Knits. How long do you get out of them?

They’re good to go right out of the box.

I actually wear them as a regular shoe around town as well as for golf.

My only gripe is that the toe box is wide. I have what I’d call a medium width foot and there’s a little more room than I’d like. Still though, an awesome shoe.

I have recently purchased the under armour hove spiked shoes. Have to say I've never put a shoe on and felt that comfort straight away. Also they are wide fit which is perfect for me. As I find Adidas and footjoy far too narrow . Under armour in general make some great golf gear, but these shoes are another level . You walk with a spring in your step

So those of us with big ole wide feet should love these?   Hmmmmm sounds like something I need to consider.

I think so

If you want a nice breathable shoe that’s pretty durable (not good for morning dew) then I’d say take a shot.

I've been a lifetime FJ person when it comes to shoes & gloves.  Call me a traditionalist I guess.

But I came across the Sketchers golf shoes on sale.  Bought a pair for myself & Mrs nut.  They are by far the most comfortable golf shoes I have worn ... especially for walking.  They barely feel like there is anything on your foot.  Snug & perfect fit.  Try them out, I don't think you will be disappointed

That's the one thing that's kept me from trying any of the Trues. I know it's a selling point for them, but I'm worried about having too much movement during the golf swing.

It's odd because I don't think of it while I swing, but my rounds where I carry I can clearly feel my front foot sliding.  I'm not going to talk you into them, its just a bummer that they're designed as they are because they're super comfy.

Anyone have any experience with Tomo Golf shoes? Seem similar to the True Knits, where they're not a fully waterproof shoe, and designed for on/off course use.

I don't have any first hand experience myself but I know a guy that has a pair.  He has suggested they are very similar to True's and extremely comfortable, yet quite unstructured and unstable.  He mentioned walking a hilly golf course did occasionally remind him of trying to walk down a steep hill in slides.  His foot wants to slide right out of the shoe.

Again, nothing first hand but experience from a guy who's opinion I value.  Take it for what it's worth.

Thanks for the feedback @sixcat

Just read up on their return policy, it's a no-go for me. It's 2019, I feel like free return shipping for exchanges should be a thing with all companies that sell strictly online.

Just another reason to stick with True. The returns and exchanges I've made were painless (except for glacially slow UPS shipping from Washington to Texas)

Played 9 split wearing my new shoe purchases. The Inesis shoes are amazingly comfortable and easy to walk in. Not sure how they would perform in the wet, but in dry conditions they were great. The Adidas 360 Tour 2.0 also lived up to the reviews. Really comfortable, and a crazy amount of traction. Planning for these to be my shoes for next winter (and the next few after)

If I can take anything out of my recent purchases, it's that the MGS shoe buying guides are certainly worth looking at.

I'd be interested to hear your findings.

Wasted $12 in return shipping. Haha.

Good looking shoes, but they didnt fit my feet well at all. Felt really unstable, as if each foot were standing on a balance ball type surface. They shipped next day priority, which was nice.

Totally agree on the Tour 360's.  I have a pair of the blacked out 2.0's and I love them for walking.  Great fit, very comfortable and good traction.  Looking forward to seeing how they work out this winter in cold potential damp conditions.

To update my above post... the Adidas showed up, and fit terrible. Long and narrow, with very little heel support.
I've just ordered my second pair of True Knits to play in.

Love them. Ive had a pair for most of this year and other than wet rainy days or cold i wear them without fail for walking golf

They are back and for real this time. The shoes are of the utmost quality and comfort. I probably have at least 50 walking rounds on my knits and more on my OG’s they show no signs of giving up or wearing down

I definitely think I'd like a pair of these, but it's not in my budget right now. I have a feeling all of my golf shoes will be Adidas going forward. I've not found any other brand that performs as well for me.

The sole pattern looks as if it isn’t trippy enough.  I don’t know.  The Puma looks as if it isn’t grippy enough too. I actually bought a pair of the pumas and wore around the house.  The toe box was too narrow and long for my Taste.
The Ecco booms are comfortable but the midsole and sole are pretty stiff compared to everything else out there that is spikeless
