perseveringgolfer 4,803
I've just had another iffy putting round incl a 4 putt. I like my Ping Anser2 but a slight mishit and its way short or worse, misses the hole completely from 3 feet- yes I know thats my stroke but I think something that sits square at address might be easier plus the MOI is very high on a spider I believe. So who games one? pro's and con's? different neck styles good or bad? Is the newest one (not the X) a small head as I cant do starship putters Quote Driver Awaiting NEW Driver (after 10 yrs) 4 Wood Callaway Big Bertha Steelhead plus 4+ Callaway shaft in 'Firm' flex Hybrid Titleist 910H 19* Diamana ahina 'flower' shaft in 'S' Irons Mizuno MP18SC 4-PW N.S Pro Modus3 Tour 105 in 'S' Wedges Callaway Mack Daddy forged in black 50* and 54* KBS Tour in 'R' Putter 'YES' Tracy 11 C groove 34.5"

Wanted a try a mallet but it doesn't fit my eye at all. I found that the ER2 is a great balance between the two.Sent from my Pixel 3 using MyGolfSpy mobile app 1 Quote Driver: Rogue ST Max LS Tensei AV Blue S 3w/5w: TSi2 Tensei AV Raw Blue S 4h: CLK 22* Hybrid Tensei CK Pro Blue 80HY S Irons 5-PW: JPX 919 Forged Nippon Modus 3 Tour 105 S Wedges: RTX Zipcore Tour Rack 50, 54, 58 Modus 3 115 Wedge Putter: L.A.B. edingc 12,437
I game a Spider Tour Red, which has the softer insert, I believe. Really like it. 33" double-bend shaft suits my putting stance/stroke despite being 5'11". I went from a heavy blade style putter and improved greatly, for what it's worth. Seems to roll fairly true even on mishits. EDIT - I also have the sightline. 1 Quote Unofficial WHS Handicap: 6.2 / Anti-Cap: 11.7 (Last Updated June 26, 2022) Driver: Callaway Epic Max LS (9°), 45.75", Fujikura Motore X F1 6X | Club Champion Fitting 17° Hybrid: Callaway Super Hybrid, 41.5", Mitsubishi MMT Hybrid 80 TX 21° Hybrid: Callaway Epic Flash, 40", Mitsubishi MMT Hybrid 80 TX 4 Utility: Cobra KING Utility (2020 Model), 38.5", UST Mamiya Recoil 110 F5 5-PW: Ben Hogan PTx Pro, 37" 7 Iron, Aerotech SteelFiber i125cw Stiff | Club Champion Fitting 50°, 54°, 58°: Edel SMS, V Grind, Nippon Modus 125 Wedge| Official Review Thread Putter: L.A.B. edingc 12,437
Realized you also asked for a size comparison. This is a photo next to my hand. I wear a men's medium glove. It is not huge at all. 2 Quote Unofficial WHS Handicap: 6.2 / Anti-Cap: 11.7 (Last Updated June 26, 2022) Driver: Callaway Epic Max LS (9°), 45.75", Fujikura Motore X F1 6X | Club Champion Fitting 17° Hybrid: Callaway Super Hybrid, 41.5", Mitsubishi MMT Hybrid 80 TX 21° Hybrid: Callaway Epic Flash, 40", Mitsubishi MMT Hybrid 80 TX 4 Utility: Cobra KING Utility (2020 Model), 38.5", UST Mamiya Recoil 110 F5 5-PW: Ben Hogan PTx Pro, 37" 7 Iron, Aerotech SteelFiber i125cw Stiff | Club Champion Fitting 50°, 54°, 58°: Edel SMS, V Grind, Nippon Modus 125 Wedge| Official Review Thread Putter: L.A.B. Kor.A.Door 5,843
I seemed to always have issues coming up short on a lot of putts, and also would miss badly from 3-4 feet. Does your Anser have an insert? If so, that may be the problem. I have found over the last couple seasons that putters with inserts don’t work for me. I always hit the ball on a good line, but almost always short. On the short putts I was missing because I was trying to input a little more power into the stroke causing a pull or a push. I switched to the same style putter that I was using, but it has a milled face and the ball jumps of the face much more solid, and with the same lines I am now making the putts or at the very least, coming very close, but mostly I get past the hole, on short putts since the ball comes off the face I can make a smoother stroke and keep it on my line. Not saying this will work, but it may not be the style of putter, it may be the material in the putter. Try a milled face, or find a firmer insert and give that a try. It has seemed to help me a lot. I also found out that the 10 dollar pistol grips work much better than all the fat ones. Apparently releasing the putter head is important while putting. Like you I've not had much 'feel' success with inserts so when I went back to the anser2 milled face it felt fantastic, sounded great as well. slight issue is the sweetspot is tiny so slightly offcentre hits were way short. I also have an out to in stroke with an open face at impact (SAMM putt lab showed this), so maybe I should just work on my stroke with drills as that stroke wouldnt work even with a mallet. I think I've just talked myself into keeping it and perfecting my stroke with Gate Tee drills on the putting green Thanks for the input Quote Driver Awaiting NEW Driver (after 10 yrs) 4 Wood Callaway Big Bertha Steelhead plus 4+ Callaway shaft in 'Firm' flex Hybrid Titleist 910H 19* Diamana ahina 'flower' shaft in 'S' Irons Mizuno MP18SC 4-PW N.S Pro Modus3 Tour 105 in 'S' Wedges Callaway Mack Daddy forged in black 50* and 54* KBS Tour in 'R' Putter 'YES' Tracy 11 C groove 34.5"

The face on that seems to be pretty “hot” as well as forgiving on offcenter strikes. I just figured out this past fall that whatever putter I use it needs a firm face. 1 Quote Lefties are always in their Right Mind
Jmikecpa 13,479
I have two of the red and one of the black and have had mixed results. The insert of the red seems a bit too soft for me most of the time and have had better success with the black. They both roll the ball fantastic off the face and there is something to the Pure Roll insert that makes the ball get going. DEck39 1
I have the small black tour spider. I really like it (not using it at this time). I like the smaller head., the only issue for me is I prefer an alignment aid. I still will use it if I need a change. 1 Quote PING G400 Max / Accra Fx 2.0 Callaway ROGUE 5W / Accra Fx 2.0 TaylorMade 2009 Hybrids Mizuno 900 JPX Hot Metal w / XP 95 Mizuno S5 Wedges Odyssey 2-Ball Putter Bridgestone RXS Ball Vessel Stand Bag

I enjoy/love my Bettinardi Queen B #9, however this thing put a spell on me. Of course I made nearly every putt in the store and we all know that in store putting is not a true indication of a putter's performance. It's like there's a magnet in the bottom of the hole that makes ya feel like a stud mule in a corn plowing contest. Anyways I wonder what the blue colored Spider X insert is suppose to be like? Anybody have any time on the course with this bad boy? I love blue so maybe the color white/blue scheme put the voodoo on me .... I was licking my chops like a momma sow at a slop slurping night out. 2 Quote Cleveland Launcher XL 10.5 Driver Cleveland Launcher xl halo hy-wood 18 Degree Cleveland Launcher XL Halo 7- wood Cleveland Launcher XL Irons 5 - PW Cleveland CBX 2 50 & 54 Degree Wedge Cleveland CBX Full-Face Wedge 58 degree Cleveland Huntington Beach SOFT Premier
