I know golf is on....

I flipped back and forth. I actually thought the race was pretty boring, and I’m a pretty big NASCAR fan. The two big wrecks were stupid stupid driving errors. Oh well, at least Kyle Busch didn’t win.

I quit watching NASCAR when David Pearson,  Cale Yarborough, and Richard Petty quit driving.  The big 3 were Ford, Chevy, and Mopar; not Ford, Chevy and Toyota.

Daytona Jae become a single line race. Skip the first four hours and watch the last two laps.

More like a crash with racing in between. Thought they’d have another on the last lap when 2nd-4th went 3 wide. Made for good watching though.

Racing was horrible. I’d rather watch the local dirt track than NASCAR

As an avid racing fan, Cars and bikes mostly dirt and Nascar.. I thought the race was ok the last 50 laps were better.

I did have a few issues:

If Paul Menard didn't have Daddy's money he would have been out of racing before he ever got started..

I though Kyle Busch was pretty petty in post race interviews, I get it that he didn't win, deal with it and move on your team did..

It was not the best race but I did watch.... the last few years I have moved away from Nascar, I still watch just not nearly as much.. I'm tired of the changing everything every year.

Like I told someone else I lost all interest in it when Big E got killed at Daytona.  The next year was when I sold out and quit racing dirt track modifieds myself. Got too expensive to field a car even doing all the work myself. Like one of the long time track workers told me "You are the last of the old school Dinosaurs as in you know every bolt ,nut and weld on that car" Which was true. I had bought this place at the beach and had gotten back to messing with Antique Harleys by then. Which the Dinosaur thing I take pride in which today rings true on my golf clubs which I fit build and repair myself. Shows how much I keep up with it I did not know it was on Sunday until now

Almost exactly what happened to me.  I was in the bleachers that afternoon, and stopped on the highway on the way home so I could process the loss of Dale with my son, who was 12 at the time.  It just hasn't been the same since.  My son still watches all three series avidly, as he has a couple of friends who are trying to make their names.  One of them ran all three races, and the other ran the Xfinity race on Saturday.

I raced a few more years, then gave it up for basically the same reason.  Everything I had was old and worn out.  I kept fixing and fixing.  I was racing a 12 year-old big spring car against new chassis that were all coil-over.  Hard to be competitive that way.   I raced almost 10 years, and bought exactly one brand new set of tires.  Everything else I ran was someone's worn out rubber from earlier in the year.  Even doing things that way, it can be expensive.

I always try to remember that I'm not good enough to get mad!

I only had one new set of tires the whole time I raced and some fans who were well off financially bought me 6 tires. I raced against Cotton Owen's grandsons and he gave me tires every week. Yep I knew all about a grinder and Naptha on tires. I suspected you were an ex racer by the screen name 00Sportsman. Yep leaf spring cars are a bear compared to 4 side coil over cars. I even used to build my own leaf spring packs. Built my own struts too on the front. On the modified 4 cylinder front I was the last man standing running the Japanese Mopar stuff. Cotton and his boys had darn near quit and the one grandson that raced moved up to late model driving for someone else. In fact the last 2 years I raced Cotton gave me a lot of Japanese Mopar parts. Everyone else had went to Ford or Toyota. But you know what? i would never do it any other way. Kinda the same with golf I was the last man standing on the SE Mini Tours hitting a persimmon driver and 4 wood--- I never switched to metal woods until 02  or so

Ditto. Back when it was actual "stock" cars and not these hand-built saftey cages on wheels. My interest has wained these past several years as the sport has been watered down by all the technology and the fact that many of the legends are gone.
