Your ideal golf weather

Last fall, we had a good thread on the joys of autumn golf. Thinking of that, the (eventual) arrival of spring, and also of the impending announcement of the testers for the Galway Bay rain gear (tease!), I thought I'd ask: what's your favorite weather for golf?

For me, there needs to be the faintest crispness in the air. A perfect day is sunny, with a light breeze, and just cold enough that I can walk 18 without ever sweating. I'm guessing that ends up being in the low 60s.

That said, I'd guess most answers are going to congregate around this:

But I suspect we have a variety of opinions, and some of us fall outside the middle of the bell curve. So go ahead and describe your ideal golf weather.

38°, 22mph wind, 149mph gusts, snow, rain, and hail.

I’d settle for 70’s-80’s with light and variable wind, 70% humidity (helps with air density readings), all of the grass cut and growing away from me for extra roll, light cloud cover.

Spring can be nice at times where I live but usually March through early May we experience a lot of wind. High winds in fact. Fall is the best for all reasons. Temps, course conditions, little to no wind, etc. Just gorgeous really.

Would have golfed yesterday had I had all my sticks...High of 34, low clouds, light breeze and no rain or snow forecast. I'll go out usually if the wind is not going to be a killer, so I base just everything on that factor alone most times. I can layer up for most any temp but would certainly be more bold with some awesome new rain gear to test...hint, hint...

Nothing beats a slightly foggy summer morning that you know if going to turn into a hot day.  Being one of the first groups off and leaving tracks in the dew as you disappear into the fog.  That's the best way to start a round of golf.

For me, about mid 80's, humidity around 80%, sunny with a zephyr breeze would be about perfect.

I do like “San Diego” weather: 75, sun, slight breeze. Pretty good for any activity. Maybe I should move to San Diego...

As for the answer to the spirit of the thread, ideal conditions for me is anywhere between 50 & 75*, little or no wind, dry and sunny. Nothing extraordinary there to be honest, just the Goldielocks zone...not too hot, not too cold...

I'll go with one of those crystal clear October days in Maine.  50* in the shade, 75* in the sun.  No humidity.  Very light to no breeze.  Dry conditions.  Just gorgeous.

Dead of summer. 90 degrees and 90% humidity. Ball carries good and our Bermuda grass is full and green. Plus it weeds out the weak.

If yes, I will be golfing.

If no, I won’t be golfing.

Really though the best golfing weather is sunny and anywhere from 65° to 85° with low humidity.

High 60s to high 70s is heaven for me but I’ll play in colder or hotter. I like playing in the wind so bring it on. Wet weather is ok as long as you’re prepared for it but that may be one of the few instances where I don’t find it as enjoyable.

70’s and sunny without much wind is obviously my favorite.

I love love love playing just after the rain falls. Mild humid, there’s something about it that I always enjoyed.

Easy for me: High 80s to low 90s during the late afternoon. Enough that you break a sweat and need plenty of water. Once the sun sets I love the feeling of it dropping a dozen degrees an hour so by dark it's chilly. Figure 70ish. Those were my favorite days to be on a golf course where it's dry hot and sunny and eventually becomes really cool late at night.

Ideal golf weather, Hmmm 

mid to late August about 60-65 at about 7:00 am, cool enough for there to be a little bite to the air. but you know it'll be 85 by mid afternoon.. clear so there will be a little dew and greens still holding water.

That way when I'm done, I can get home and still have all day in the sun..

60s morning 75 as a high. Doesn’t get much better than that.
