Just wondered what your average 6 iron speed is (if you know it, or 7 iron)?

I think the tour average is 92mph 6 iron and 90mph 7 iron.

I've no idea what I was in my youth but average 88mph with my 6 iron today in my 'mature' years. I'll take that if I can get decent contact.

Between 98-99 for me with the ol 6 iron.

84 measured on Trackman about a month ago with 95 gram shaft. Switched to 80 gram shaft and my speed shot up to 85.

Didn't have a 6 iron in the bag at MGS today so I pulled a 7 iron - 86 MPH.   84/85 with the pitching wedges I tested today.  

 

Forgot to put my age....I am 53 so I guess that is middle age

I swing 80 for the 6-iron I can squeeze out a little more but there really ain’t a reason for it at the cost.

Well this thread is a bit deflating. All you out here swinging your 6 iron as fast as I swing my driver. haha 

I believe mine is around 78-81 depending on if I'm swinging fluidly. 31 years old.

I'll be 48 in July and I swing my irons a bit slower after my back fusion but I'm in the neighborhood of 85-87 mph. I tend to hit a lot of iron shots with something less than a full swing because of wind. I've lived in Oklahoma since 2008 and I have become someone who tends to hit knockdown's quite a bit. I used to live in Florida and there I hit the ball high - a lot of target golf. My six iron swing was in the low 90's then on a full swing. I'm rambling now...

I think at my last lesson my Trackman swing speed was about 98-100 mph with the 6 iron but I don't carry it near as far as some of the rest of you in that range.

Ping G400, red, graphite with senior flex (I am 67).  75-78 trackman speed as of this AM. I use it for 150-165 yards.

I can now confirm between 88 and 93mph, according to Flightscope. It was a 7 iron, not a 6 iron.
