I've tried it out of the rough with the ball nearly sitting on top of the grass.

Results were not so good, as one might expect from a golfer of my abilities.

On Tuesday Graeme McDowell found out that the API is an Open Championship qualifier.  Three top 10 finishers, not already in the Open, get spots at Royal Portrush, a "home" tournament for GMac.  So he has extra incentive this week.

He also gets to play at the US Open at Pebble Beach where he won in 2010.  Could this be a resurgence year for GMac?  He played well yesterday.
