More forum members participating?

It seems like we have more members participating in the discussions. Not sure if that's a seasonal 'thing' or more new members signing up and sticking around. Either way that's great news for MGS.

It definitely feels like both, I'm sure its partially seasonal but hopefully everyone sticks around. I know I went mostly dark during the winter months. It's torturous to talk and think about golf when you can't actually play, and thats coming from someone who lives in the southeast and has a relatively short winter. I can't imagine the pain people like @Shankster must go through. He might as well live in the arctic circle...

It’s snowing in Rochester and all I can think of is rolling some putts in the living room while my daughter plays with her toys. But then she’ll see me putting and want a club of her own to tote around the house.

Anyways...it’s clear there are some new guys here. Thanks to these guys using the search function, I’ve enjoyed reading some retreaded posts that I forgot about.

I agree 100% that the winter weather has made me struggle to participate at times.  

I am happy to see the spike in activity, and invite all of our newer members, and returning to participate members to pull up a chair and stay awhile.  It's way more fun in here with multiple viewpoints and opinions.

I would say it's both. But it does seem cyclical around here. You'll see certain people on alot for a while then disappear then reappear... I have not seen @ole gray for a while posting, Hope he is all good.. Alot of us have had the winter from He!!... Gotta love this global warming.. LOL... I woke up this morning to 24*... I have got to hit the Range once and a simulator 3 times this winter.. I am so ready for it to warm up..

I'll see what I can do to pull something together. We get some analytics on usage. As you can probably figure, activity has a consistent arc where it's more active during the summer than winter. Tests are a big factor of course but there's also plenty that just don't even think about golf during the winter.

MGS has provided me sanity this off-season as I've barely touched a golf ball since November.

In his spare time he"s a moderator on a serviceman's family support group website. I'm sure that's keeping him busy.

I think it also depends on the level you're at in the game. As someone who just took up golf a few years ago when I retired - I find the posts extremely educational so I spend (probably too much time) on the site learning and soaking up all the collective knowledge of the members.

This describes me pretty well. Being in PA, winter months generally mean no golf activities. And I also find out the more time I spend on here during winter months, my online buying increases as well.

Same. This is probably the first winter in a long time that I didn't change out half of my bag! I'm swamped during the late fall/winter so my posting activity usually drops, as I don't have much to add while I'm sitting at home staring at snow outside my patio doors.

But as for the activity, you can always tell when testing season starts because people come out of the woodwork.  It's the same thing every year though, we get a ton of new members and participation starting around this time.  A lot are just in it to win it so to speak, but we will absolutely get some quality members that stick around and bring fresh ideas for the forum.

I spend more time here during the winter months, but, I post less because I have no stories or questions. Summertime I post more but spend less time just browsing.

I don't read many threads in the winter or even contribute much. Heck I'm so busy I sometimes don't get on here for a day or two.

I know I've been a member on here since 2017, but just really started getting involved in the conversations this year, but I do plan to be on here regularly, as I'm learning how things work on here. I will say that I find the app to be a little different compared to the desktop version. I use them both, but it's obviously easier to type on a real keyboard.

I recently deleted the app and just use the mobile version of the website now. Its more complete and so much faster...

I completely agree, but I keep the app to be able to respond to PMs and for good reads while waiting somewhere, where I don't have a computer available.

Edit: Oh, and it's easier, for me anyway, to add photos to the forum using the app, that way I don't have to transfer them over to my computer first.

I was definetly one of those members. I was gone about year or two and just recently got back into the swing of checking in with the MGS community. It came down to me visiting another site more frequently and ending up losing the routine of checking here. The excitement of a new golf season has got me back into the groove and I can't wait to start posting again.

I have started to get on much more in the past couple months.  I used to be someone who went into a bit of a hibernation, but this year the bug never left and I bought a new net for at home practice so I've continued to stay in "golf shape".  Always enjoy talking golf and this is a great place to come as I don't have enough buddies around me who are as obsessed.
