Build the Perfect Set of Clubs with Only One Brand

Interesting video. I'm sure that if I paid for a full bag fitting, the chances of a single manufacturer winning every slot are very low, which I believe was the point of the quote. At the same time, I'm sure having the new Bridgestones in my bag top to bottom (which happens to stop at AW) will be a great help to me over my previous clubs. Besides, I'm not really sure if anything is perfect for someone like me who struggles with an inconsistent swing.

Yea I just watched this. Interesting video but I think Peter kinda missed the point from the MyGolfSpy staff. Yes there are multiple major manufactures that make quality equipment across the entire bag, but that doesn't necessarily mean that you will get equal performance from a single brand bag and a mixed bag. As skill level increases the margins likely do shrink but there is still margins of performance improvements to be gains. There is no brand that is the King of all categories right now.

Now with that said, my new job will somewhat have me trending toward playing a full Titleist bag but I will still play Evnroll because the performance is vastly superior at this time. If similar performance differences get found other places in my bag you will probably those spots eventually invaded by other non Titleist product too. Unless I end up signing a contract that states otherwise of course.

This is easy, as I am fresh off a Full Bag One Brand, #Cobra Connect Challenge. BTW, they are still in the bag. Sure, I have taken a couple weeks off and gamed my old PowerBilt Air Force One club’s and my Hogan PTx Irons but I still go back to the Cobra F8’s.

Now it would be interesting to see if the F9’s can beat the F8’s.....hmmm.

I'd have to agree with Jay or Foz ^

I'd either go PING or Cobra, and that'd be a tough decision.

I'd go with either PING or Cobra too. They are both the most consistent from top to bottom.

If we are talking Driver - Putter + Ball

We are looking at:

Taylormade
Callaway
Titleist
Mizuno (putters are not available in US)
Srixon/Cleveland
Wilson

Am I missing any?

So are we including the ball?

I'd vote exclude the ball, just talking clubs.

Then we'd have to add PXG and maybe Sub 70 (not sure if they make putters)  I'm probably missing some here.

But I'd probably have to go with Callaway.  Already play driver and putter from them, I'm sure I could find something that works with the rest of the bag.

My perfect set would be:

Taylormade M5 Tour
Taylormade M5 3W
Taylormade M5 5W
Taylormade UDI 2
Taylormade P7TW 3-PW
Taylormade 52 Hi Toe
Taylormade 56 Hi Toe
Taylormade 60 Hi Toe
Taylormade 64 Hi Toe
Taylormade Black Copper Juno
Taylormade TP5

Yeah. I could handle a full TM bag. Fit me for the best shaft, adjust lofts and lies.

Nice MGS plug, but I'm not sure I understand the point of the video.  It seemed he was trying to disprove the MGS statement, but only to justify the decision for him to sign a full bag deal with Taylormade.  I'm not sure that picking out some older TM clubs off a used website and saying "those are nice clubs" would meet the same qualifications as MGS would use to build one of our "Most Wanted" bags.

Molinari signed a full bag deal for what I can only assume is a lot of money. Looks like a career $3M kind of player with a good 2017 and great 2018.  Seems like a great time to sell while your stock is high.

DJ plays a full bag.  I wouldn't be surprised if that is worth almost what his tour winnings are on a given year.

Peter Finch doesn't even play golf for a living as far as I can tell.  In that case, why the heck wouldn't you sign a full bag deal?

I think the MGS statement would hold true for me.  If I went into a fitting and truly considered all the options for each club, the chance of one brand coming out on top for everything has to be close to zero.  I bet most of us could get fit for a driver and a three wood and we would already have an unmatched bag.

Sure, we could make a pretty darn good bag from any of the manufacturers listed above.  But THE BEST? I'll take the field on that bet.

I'd probably do Taylormade too. Or Titliest. Especially if we're adding balls. In fact I'm surprised I haven't seen anyone else say Titliest. TS driver, Scotty Cameron putter. Pro V1... Hmmm

I'd be looking at Titleist or Mizuno for a full bag setup no doubt - including ball. Top-to-bottom, I don't think I could find anything better for my ability and personal preferences.
