WGC Match Play

Not that the Valspar Championship isn’t a riveting bit of entertainment but I am ready for some elimination. One of my favorite events of the year, and I don’t mind the course either.

I’m going with Tommy Fleetwood.

What say ye?

I say Bubba with the repeat. Good course for him, and match play suits his game.

Funny isn’t it. He says he doesn’t like match play.

I say Molinari wins this event.

It's a fun event IMO, as it is different than the stroke play we watch week after week. I would love to see more match play events on tour, and think that forcing the Americans to play in more match play events may help them perform better in the Ryder Cup.

I'd have to say Rory. He's striking the ball well and his putter has been decent.

Good stroke play players aren't essentially good match play players........

my money would love to be on Tiger but his matchplay record isn't good.

Watch out for the barnrat, Poulter, Reed or Rahm.....in my humble opinion

I'm with you on this. I second Poulter and Reed..Possibly DJ with a revenge win. He has to be pissed about his 4th round play at Valpsar but then again the guy isnt exactly emotional so maybe it had no effect at all...

I was thinking Reed, too, especially since he seems to have gotten some tweaks from Ledbetter....

I think I just threw up in my mouth a bit typing that.

Tiger's match play record in his pro career is 50-17-2 including Ryder Cup and President's Cup singles matches, which is pretty darn good. He's also won the WGC Match Play 3 times in 2003, 2004, and 2008.

His fourball/foursomes record, on the other hand, is not good, 29-35-2.

Overall I would agree, however;

1 match win 2013

1 match win 2012

1 match win 2011

1 match win 2010

2 match wins 2009

and zero since 2013

I maybe should have clarified, his record in the last decade is pretty poor, and I'm a huge Tiger fan.

Day, Mickelson, Stenson, and Furyk in Group 12. That's a tough group.

It's not as tough if Day's back doesn't feel a whole lot better.  Still, you never know....

Same, and I have Francesco taking down DJ for 3rd place.

I have Poulter and JT in the final, with Poults winning. DJ and Rose in consolation.

Curious who everyone picked in this one. I took Furyk just cause he's been lights out the past 2 tournaments, especially compared to the others in that group.
