Callaway X Series Jaws CC Wedges

These arrived just before I left for the show last week. Just as with the new Nike wedges, the marketing push here centers around performance from the rough (particularly wet rough). What we're hearing is that we're not back to pre-2010 groove rule spin numbers, but the OEMs are inching closer.

Kudos to Callaway for offering a mix of C-grind & standard sole offerings, two finishes (chrome & slate) and loft options of 50, 52, 54, 56, 58, and 64 degrees. These wedges have a bit more offset than the average wedge. Some guys love it, some hate it. Personally, I'm not concerned either way. I've said this about 3 other times already elsewhere in the forums, but it's worth mentioning again... I LOVE the slate finish (though the satin ain't half bad either). Time will tell how it holds up to wear and tear.

Let us know what you think.

Enjoy the pics:

I think that they have a winner with the slate finish. I think that the wear will not be as readily noticeable as with a dark black wedge.

Are they ball chewers?

I haven't hit them yet. My first opportunity will probably be tomorrow evening (provided this damn snow ever stops). I'll post my early spin numbers as soon as I can.

I had the non-cc black Jaws and the finish actually held very well. I stopped using them, because they chewed the hell out of balls, to the point I had to get rid of the ball after a full wedge shot. I'm sure the CC wedges will be a little easier on the ball though.

i may be just getting old, but they remind me of the old school titleist tour performance wedges - really close grooves. i wanted to like them, didnt

I believe the more grooves on the face will be almost all if not already every OEM along with whatever cut (style ie.. z,v,modified u) they can get away with to provide maximum spin! When you say you didn't like them was that the old Titleist or the new Callaway' wedges?

Sorry - i can see how my post didnt make sense. I wanted to like the jaws - i didnt. (I did like the old titleists) There is some weird offset look on the jaws near the topline/hosel area that doesnt appeal to me. the narrow grooves relative to the size of the face also didnt look good. make the wedge look bigger than it was.
