PlaidJacket
I hope I'm not starting something that's already been posted. (didn't find anything) Anyway... this tournament has my interest for several reasons. I enjoy watching top amateurs compete and this ones final round will be played at Augusta National. The first two rounds were played close by at Champions Retreat on the Palmer and the Nicklaus courses - then today everyone; including those that missed the cut will play a practice round at Augusta National. Saturday will be the championship match. I've include a couple of links if you're interested. Saturday is televised on NBC by the way. https://www.championsretreat.net/augusta-national-womens-amateur/ https://www.anwagolf.com/en_US/scores/index.html bens197, cnosil and MaxEntropy 3 Quote My Sun Mountain bag currently includes: 771CSI 5i - PW and PFC Micro Tour-c 52°, 56°, 60 wedges EXS 10.5*, 929-HS FW4 16.5* Willimette w/GolfPride Contour

PMookie
I was texting my childhood friend who is a PGA Pro and has a girl playing in this tourney. She holed-out on 13 from 47 yards!!! Popular Post sixcat
My daughter and I had a blast. We were right there for the ceremonial tee shots. Followed a group from #1 to the grandstands on #4. While sitting in the stands having a sandwich and water, my daughter made two new friends. She spent nearly an hour talking to Condoleezza Rice and Heidi Ueberoth. They borrowed her program and pairings sheet. They were incredibly nice to my daughter. It has made her day too. She has texted her friends and grandparents to tell them who she met up close and personal. Bosox04
I thought it was great. I live about 10 minutes from Wake Forest, so I was glad to see Kupcho win. There will be more than a few guys that would love to have her back 9 next week. tony@CIC

Will_Mac
I was there. First time visit to Augusta. In all fairness to the young women because I respect their games and was interested to watch, but I was really there to witness first hand my favorite golf course. The course was incredible, immaculate and amazingly, significantly better than I'd imagined. And the ladies' impressive performance managed to match it. They added to the magic with such stellar play on the back 9. Historic, IMHO.Tremendous day. revkev, palvord, STUDque and 2 others 4
perseveringgolfer
I 'mostly' enjoyed watching this- some excellent play from the ladies and a worthy winner who struck the ball as good as most pro's on tour. One thing did niggle me though, and that was the speed of play by Fassi the runner up, it was snail pace with long conversations with the caddie, umpteen yardage checks even on the tee, not sure how long their final round was but Fassi was moving at the speed of tectonic plates. Well done to Kupcho for not letting it get to her. tony@CIC 1 Quote Driver Awaiting NEW Driver (after 10 yrs) 4 Wood Callaway Big Bertha Steelhead plus 4+ Callaway shaft in 'Firm' flex Hybrid Titleist 910H 19* Diamana ahina 'flower' shaft in 'S' Irons Mizuno MP18SC 4-PW N.S Pro Modus3 Tour 105 in 'S' Wedges Callaway Mack Daddy forged in black 50* and 54* KBS Tour in 'R' Putter 'YES' Tracy 11 C groove 34.5"
PlaidJacket
I was only able to catch about the final 6 holes but I think perhaps I saw the best. It'd be nice if this were to become an annual thing. What a great finish by Kupcho. Once or twice I thought the fairways looked to be cut just a tad longer/taller as opposed to what I recall from actually being there. Anyone else? Sixcat... did you notice or think that? The crowd. Have you ever witnessed that many people watching an amateur or LPGA event? I haven't. perseveringgolfer, bens197, tony@CIC and 1 other 4 Quote My Sun Mountain bag currently includes: 771CSI 5i - PW and PFC Micro Tour-c 52°, 56°, 60 wedges EXS 10.5*, 929-HS FW4 16.5* Willimette w/GolfPride Contour

artful_golfer
I thoroughly enjoyed watching the Augusta National Women's Amateur on TV. I was amazed listening to Jennifer Kupcho talk about playing through her migraine and relying on her Augusta caddie because for a while everything on her left side was blurry. I think the sportsmanship that was shining through made me feel as happy as the players were to be there. These fantastic amateurs (who play like pros) are very inspiring to a high handcapper like me. And to know Augusta did this for amateur women to help grow women's golf and golf in general - simply awesome! downlowkey, tony@CIC, Rickp and 1 other 4 Quote PXG 0811 XF driver Serene: 3 wood, 4 & 5 hybrid iron r7 Draw, Flex L: 4, 6 - 9 irons Wedges: RTX Zipcore 46 mid bounce; RTX-3: 52/10 wedge; and Tour Action 900 60* low bounce Armlock putter or E-2 Torque custom fit putter Tour B XS golf ball V3

palvord
I watched the replay of the final round today, and it was so awesome to watch. First, the talent on display was phenomenal. It is really incredible to watch what they can do with their hybrids and long irons. Second, it was great watching an event where the players genuinely seemed to be having fun while playing golf. It was a refreshing change of pace from the PGA tour. I will be tuning into more amateur events this year as FOX broadcasts all of the USGA stuff this year. sixcat
Has any male pro ever done 5 under in the last 6 holes Sunday at The Masters? Maybe Sarazen?Charl Schwartzel birdied the Final four holes in 2011. That’s the best I can recall. Kupcho is a generational talent in my estimation. revkev
Nicklaus went birdie, par, eagle, birdie, birdie, par in 86 to win. So it has happened but it was really fun golf to watch. Several of the holes played the distances that they used to play them back in the wooden/balata era - 13 was always 465 back in that day.
