On a quick read through, you can definately see some trends with individual balls, and even trends within brands as a whole. I'll have to look at the charts more in-depth later, but it is an extremely well done and well put together report by the folks at MGS! Lots of information to mull over.

Wilson Staff C300 9.0* Fujikura Pro 58 stiff

Callaway Rogue 3W Mitsubishi Diamana D+ LTD 80 stiff

Mizuno MP-18 MMC FLI-HI 2 iron UST Mamiya Recoil 95 stiff

Ping I200's 4-W Aerotech Steelfiber I110 CW stiff

Ping Glide 52* and 58* stiff

Bettinardi Studio Stock #38 Armlock

Glad to see I wasn't nuts in preferring a firmer feel in my balls.

All puns aside, gonna send the results to my player partners who swear softer is better.

I was worried for a bit based on some of the charts, graphs, and highlighted observations, but the raw data more than confirmed to me that I'm perfectly okay with the 6 dozen Vice Pros I recently got in the mail!!! Obviously, the biggest concern would be manufacturing inconsistencies that could affect performance as indicated by MGS. But as also stated, performance variations from ball-to-ball of the same model is less problematic than the differences between different ball models. Brilliant work by MGS yet again! I should also note how completely fair and honest I think they were in their assessment.

What a great report!!!!!

Hmmm I've been complaining about my drives being short and coincidentally my ball didn't make it on the distance graph. Guess I'll be loading up with some new balls.

Not really. One surprising takeaway is how similar Prov1 and Prov1X are.

If the mod's are reading this:

Recommendation is that donor's get access to all test data ahead of time. I think this would be an additional incentive to build on the donor base. You guys are doing some great work at headquarters oh and of course the Mods in the field as well.

Just spent my lunch hour reading the data.  I guess it's safe to say Titleist didn't rise to the top of the golf ball market by paying players to play the ProV, but I imagine deep down, we already knew that.  It's a phenomenal product and has been for many years.

My question after reviewing the data, is it worth the additional $20 per box to play the Titleist over the Snell?

I will likely go over the results a few more times and put both into play before making a decision.

MGS did an excellent job on the golf ball test.  I was only briefly able to see the results on my iPhone and it had tons of great information.  Can't wait to spend some more time looking at the Tableau reports in more detail.

I'm focusing on shot area and standard deviations and it's mind boggling how consistent/inconsistent some balls are. I think it will take time to digest the info and pick a ball. Surprising to see the TP5 perform better in my metrics than the TP5x. The MTB-X is a beast off the tee but really inconsistent... The shot area for driver and 7 iron on high swing speed is concerning. And Srixon so wild off the tee yet you could throw a blanket over the shot area on the 7 iron. A real head scratcher

I was able to select. I looked at the Pro V1x (current gamer) vs Snell MTB-X for comparison. They were very similar in the raw data outside of driver, but it seemed the ProV1x was more consistent.

Maybe once I get up to the 115mph after SuperSpeed training I’ll give them a shot.

Still inaccessible here. I saw the home page for a sec but the report wouldn't load.

I assume Golf Digest has created bots to click on this constantly to keep it down until they can find a Prof who will accept payment to disprove all the findings.

... I am a little disappointed they did not use a 100mph swing speed. I think many more Am's swing at or near 100 than 115. They do allow some conversion when you combine 85 an 115 which is nice, but that is really just a guess. In the end, like all golf equipment, it isn't as easy as which ball is longest or which ball spins more. Many factors to interpret and a preliminary perusal shows many of the top tier balls are very competitive when you consider the trade offs of distance, spin, trajectory and dispersion. For instance the Maxfli Tour is almost 6 yards longer than the Tour X but it is also more than twice as bad for dispersion while spin, ball speed and launch angle are virtually identical. The angle of descent is steeper with the Tour but all the numbers are very similar so I not sure where the extra 6 yards or double the dispersion comes from.

Got in!!!  Amazing data MGS!!!  This was put together very well and was easy to read and understand.  I've been playing the Chrome Soft X...NOT ANY MORE!!!!  Time for a switch.  This is why I was waiting on buying new balls.  You guys do your job very well.  Thank you.

I guess those water-logged Chrome Softs I got weren't that good a deal after all.

I will reiterate potentially the most important point in the whole piece which is to play the same ball consistently to get the best results.  If you do switch away from Callaway, whether it be to Titleist, Snell, Bridgestone, etc. you should expect at least a 2-3 round adjustment period to get the feel/distances calibrated before you see improvements in score.

Without a doubt!  You probably found a few of my Chrome Softs in the water.  haha.  I have never hit a Snell ball so I am hesitant there, I have hit Bridgestones and like them so maybe I game them this year.

Oh snap. It loaded. Wayyy too much information to give you guys A “this ball won answer!” So I’ll stay #spoilerfree but that link will work at some point.

Just in time to read on my lunch break! 🙂

I got a chance to look at it, too.  Agree completely with the "wayyy too much information to give you a winner" comment.  When I finally get a chance to really dig in, it'll take me forever to figure out what I want to do regarding golf balls.

As you would expect, it''s extremely well done.

I always try to remember that I'm not good enough to get mad!

I was able to take a quick look from my phone, but still no dice from my computer. Hoping to dive in once the onslaught of traffic has died down some. Based on what I saw though, I'm excited to dig into the data!
