Come to think of it, who was first with a white driver?? Was it Cobra? Poulter was using the first one last November in Hong Kong I think? Thoughts please!

Good weekend for Callaway with a staff player winning in Dubai, hole in one as well!!

Come on Callaway, you can do better than that. How about spending some more money on R&D, and don't give me bullshit like the forged composite is going to give me 20 more yards. Build a better driver. One that can be adjusted in various ways. What the avid golfer is looking for is to be able to 'tune' their clubs like the pros get done for them. Go with that premise and you will sell more drivers.

you sir bring up a much more important unrelated topic.

it is my opinion as a clubfitter that "avid" golfers are

way up tehir ass with numbers launch monitos and

clubhead settings.

the simple truth is that most tour pros neither have

much of a clue whats in their bag nor care to know.

sure you have some die hards jerking themselves

going through a case of grips to match gram weight

to 1/2 g but other than that-----

if you take fct/mwt for instance on 1 hand tm will

shove down your throat that all these adjustments

will create certain very wide dispersions in ball

flight.what they neglect to mention is that the

golfer needs to be talented and practiced enough

to repeat a pinhead hit everytime to get these

results.the fact is mwt is a farce and it really

takes about 10% movement in clubhead mass(@20g in driver)

to really have any affect in center of gravity.

this means that changing 4g to 8g is doing absolutely

nothing other than painting your ego.even with

an after market tungsten weight such as 25-30g

are you good enough to repeat that pinhead hit

to avail the change in cog.

this is not to mention on the other side of their

fence they will tell you that the driver is

sooooo forgiving that you can hit it off the toe

and still reap 80-90% off an on center hit

which in comparison to a persimmon driver is definately

the case because a toe hit on a 460 would = strike

1 on a persimmon.

mwt is a nice swingweighting feature and much

greater marketing ploy, which hay thats cool too.

a similar anal - ogy (ha) would hold

true for my opinion on fct

cheers

speaking of white did anyone notice

the white garments (called ice cream suits in the 70S)

in the top sponsors of the day ad on the right?

my old man fell off a ladder in a similar outfit

attempting to gain access to a 2nd story window

during a bender after finding out mother had put the

house in lock down because of his tardiness

to family dinner.

needless to say he was lucky enough to fall in

a rain soaked ditch of mud instead of the driveway

which except for the spiffy what was white

suit worked out well for him--

matter fact looking closer at the mens usa ad for

the white ghetto suit there could be a similar case

made in which the blonde in the blue dress (next to him)

left boob seems to be casting a shadow - should be grounds

for a design flaw in the suit

ok enough

This is just me thinking out loud, but if Callaway does happen to go down (or is bought by Dick's) could the Ben Hogan brand be revived?

This really caught my eye, and I agree it would be a welcome thing. I remember their BS line about reviving the line in 2008, then 2009, then 2010, then...it's dead. Still they have no problem using words like "Hawk" and "Apex" either in there advertising or directly on their products. It feels like the Hogan brand is being held hostage.
