GolfSpy MPR
If you're willing to use your phone, one option is the Game Golf app. You can use it without any of the Game Golf hardware at all. Before each shot, you tap on the screen to tell it what club you're hitting, and it keeps stats just like you had the tags. It's tedious, obviously, but that's the trade-off for not buying any of the hardware. On the other side, first generation Game Golf devices are cheap on eBay. I picked one up this winter for around $35, so that I have some extra tags and so I can start tracking Kirke's shots. Of course, if the whole idea is that you hate tagging anything, then all my ideas are useless here tony@CIC, M. TR1PTIK
Arccos does have the driver only sensor. I don't think it costs much. Otherwise, what @GolfSpy MPR mentioned is on point. I switched from Arccos back to Game Golf and bought the Live version on Amazon for under $100. M. GB13
I'd be pretty sure that you could just buy one of the replacement sensors and use that if you wanted to see the Arccos platform, but otherwise, I'd look at doing something like MPR said. I guess maybe I'm confused about the difference, if any, between what your describing and the Live version @TR1PTIK mentioned. The last I used it, there was no fee at all for using the app. Game Golf is trying to get in on the subscription idea (like Arccos), but I think (unless they've changed things) that the only subscription is if you want to use their caddie suggestion feature. The difference in just using the app without the hardware is convenience. With the tags, you tap the club either on the Game Golf device, or if you have NFC on your phone, on the phone itself. Without the tags, you have to pull the phone out and select the club you're hitting for each shot. In addition, Game Golf claims that the GPS system in the device is more accurate than what is included on most phones. M. Not sure how that scenario would work either. Unless I'm mistaken, I think there may be a slight difference in hardware so Arccos can distinguish between different models/revisions that would prevent a user from purchasing a replacement sensor and using it as suggested. The cost for Arccos Driver is low enough that if that's all a person wanted to track they could easily do so. I guess maybe I'm confused about the difference, if any, between what your describing and the Live version @TR1PTIK mentioned. The only difference between GG Live and the GG Classic (the orignal GG device) is that GG Live has Bluetooth so you can sync to your phone and edit/post rounds on the fly. However, you do not have to use your phone if you don't want to. You can just as easily use Live without a phone just as you'd do with GG Classic. This is an important detail to note because I've seen a lot of product reviewers get this wrong. GolfSpy MPR, M. golfingbrock
I've been recently using the 18birdies app the last few months. Similar concept I think to Game Golf. The basic GPS and tracking is free, but they have some premium features such as Caddy as well. I have used it a fee times to track tee shots but haven't used to track my irons yet. I mostly use it as a GPS and scorecard, because I'm normally focused more on hitting the shot than tracking the shot. Here are a couple screen shots. tony@CIC 1 Quote Driver: Honma TR20 440 8.5° w/ Vizard FP-7X SHAFT - REVIEW POSTED 3 Wood: Adams TightLies Titanium 3+ - Shaft Bassara E55 x5ct Hybrid: Taylormade RBZ 2. 16.5°- Stock Shaft- Stiff Irons: SUB70 639 CB 4-PW w/ Nippon Modus 120 X-STIFF Wedges: GW: SUB70 Raw 48° Mizuno Mp series 52 SW: Cleveland RTX 2.0 56° LW: Mizuno JPX 900 60° Putter: Odyssey White Ice Sabertooth- Superstroke Slim 3.0 grip Bag: Taylormade FlexTech Lifestyle Carry bag- Houndstooth

It was much easier to "tag" my shots on my phone that it was for 18 birdies. Basically tap the screen get a list of clubs and select the one I was using. The process is something that I will have to get used too. Tagging fairway shots is easy since I typically pull out my GPS to get a yardage. Tee shots were easier to remember than putts. Reviewed the stats on my round and I like how they populate and display the data. For someone looking for shot tracking without the expense of the hardware tags, this seems like a viable option that can be done without a lot of trouble while playing. tony@CIC, Wedgie and MattF 3 Quote Driver: G400 Max 9* w/ KBS Tour Driven Fairway: TS3 15* w/Project X Hzardous Smoke Hybrids: 915H 21* w/KBS Tour Graphite Hybrid Prototype 915H 24* w/KBS Tour Graphite Hybrid Prototype Irons: TR20V 6-11 w/Vizard TR20-85 Graphite Wedge: 54/12D, 60/8M w/:Accra iWedge 90 Graphite Putter: TM-180 Testing: Backups: Milled Collection RSX 2, mFGP2, Futura 5W Member: MGS Hitsquad since 2017
