Toro3150
I’ve heard and read so many different explanations about Project X flexes and what they equate to. So, in a Project X LZ steel shaft, is 5.5 regular flex or stiff flex? There is also a 5.0 flex, so I’m not sure if that’s regular. I believe they may have a “in-between” flex, so that might be 5.5? Anyway, maybe someone can enlighten me. Thanks Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy
GB13
5.5 is a R+ or a slightly stiffer regular. madi05
Absolutely - Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpyI play stiff in everything but 5.5 for me was just like the modus 105 stiff for me, I tried the 6.0 as well to confirm the flex was more like stiff plus but I love my lz5.5Sent from my Moto Z (2) using Tapatalk
Toro3150
Thanks. My 7 iron SS is usually 73-75 mph, so I'm thinking I would be better with the LZ 5.0. mikea
kenstar23
I played with Project X for three years in my Ping i20's before switching to Aerotech shafts. I would say that the Project X 5.5 is about 2/3 the way toward stiff on the flex spectrum. My Aerotech Flexsteel shafts are not quite as stiff as s300 Dynamic Gold shafts. ole gray
I just bought a 3 hybrid from Callaway Preowned with the Project X 5.5 shaft. I'm noticing a lower ball flight with lots of roll out. Here are the specs on the Callaway Preowned site: Project X Catalyst 55/65/75 Graphite : Project X Shaft Flex Guide: 5.0 = Light/Senior | 5.5 = Regular | 6.0 = Stiff | 6.5 = Extra Stiff I can hit the thing a country mile however I'll see if I get more height once I get used to it. jab123
The PX LZ 5.5 115 in my current gamers (2021 Callaway X Forged) play similarly to the PX 6.0. These guys tested it. https://exactgolf.com/pages/project-x-shafts Another similar shaft would be Modus 120 X (SS1x). And, I’ve played the PX LZ 5.0 when recovering from elbow surgery and it is perfect for the 75-80 7 iron swing speed range. I have a set of Ping 710s shafted with them.
