Well guys, I’m screwed emoji23.png. I just played the 3 best rounds of the past 8 months. Shot one over on the front 9 and 7 over on the back 9 today for an 80. Last 3 rounds have been 79,84,80. That’s well below my average and 12-13 handicap. Maybe with the new sticks I can consistently stay in the 70s. My gut is telling me y’all are in trouble.

@bardle, why'd you go with one-lengths? What are your goals with the switch?

Them seem like a really good concept, but I don't think any company has executed them perfectly yet. I haven't hit the F9's so  you'll have to tell me if Cobra finally got it right.

I don't know... I know there are two clubs in his bag which will be hard for him to give up! Srixon driving iron and the older f7 3 wood.

That's something I'll be very curious to see is @Nunfa0 how you enjoy the f9 3 wood vs the f7. Tried the f9 last night and was pretty darn good, but not a massive difference between the two.

Yeah, the F7 fairway woods have a sort of cult following. I never got a chance to hit one when they first came out, but I've heard really good things about them. If I didn't love my Rogue so much, I'd think about finding a nice used F7, and seeing what all the hype is about.

Them seem like a really good concept, but I don't think any company has executed them perfectly yet. I haven't hit the F9's so  you'll have to tell me if Cobra finally got it right.

My goal with every club selection is to lower my handicap and average score. I'm a technical guy. Im a programmer by trade so I think in processes and variables.

It's simple really. I hit my 7 iron well. I feel athletic when I can stand tall above the ball at that length and I still feel like I'm over it in a sense. Meaning my swing length isn't so long that I have time to mess up the swing but it's long enough that I feel comfortable and not hunched over.

Every time I hit a bad shot. My brain processes all of the reasons it could have happened. One of the variables that I currently struggle with is ball position and setup at address. Specifically the difference between say a 9 iron and a 4 iron. Somehow I'm actually a lot more consistent with the 4 iron but the changes in proximity to the ball and ball position give me fits. I tend to chunk or pull my scoring irons more than anything probably because I get to close to the ball or my ball position is too far forward. I'm rambling now but I think you get where I'm going.

The more variable I can eliminate, the less variables and processes I have to improve, the more likely I can improve faster. That's my logic behind it at least. And with having a 6 month old and the limited time I have to practice and play. The more things I can make consistent and natural the better.

They certainly do and rightfully so. They are very easy to hit and just great clubs overall. I do like the shape of the f9. Also by and far the easiest 3 wood I've ever hit off the fairway which is where I think they earned their reputation.

I’m kind of jealous. I really wanted to try the one lengths but I think I’ve spent too many years with “normal” clubs. I did a Sterling free demo last year. Couldn’t elevate the 4 iron and the PW went too far. Great concept but seemed like I would have to tinker with the clubs way too much.

I know, I'm torn on the concept of ONE lengths too. I love the theory behind them, and I think they could help me, BUT I'm just not sure. I'm already a pretty good iron player with variable length irons, but I always want to get better, but I don't want to screw up what I already have.

Read an article last night about Lee Trevino and how all of his lie angles were the same as his 5 or 6 iron.

So his longer irons were more upright and short irons flatter. But standard lengths. And his 3/4/5 (I think) irons were all the same length.

Had a fitting and got his clubs more upright and his game went to crap.

There’s something to a constant lie angle...

Hmm so the tournament I just came out of was not what I thought it was. I thought going in it was play your own ball handicap adjusted. Turns out it was 3 different 6 hole formats including scramble and alt shot. So I couldn't track that round. Crap.

Guess Ill have to take a personal day to get a tracked round in. 😁

That is one I'm curious about as well, I love that 3 Wood but I'm sure the f9 will be just as good. The 2 iron on the other hand is going to be very hard to dislodge. Hybrids and I have history and it's all bad. In fact with a hybrid you could call me the unhappy hooker 😵😁😎

I played the f8 one lengths for a few months last year. I couldn’t hit the 5 or 6 iron because I don’t think I have the swing speed or efficiency. I felt the distance control from 7-SW were the best of any clubs I have ever played. My perfect set up would be 7 down in single length and everything else variable length. May try it based on reviews here.

It took time to dial it in but once I set it to 13.5* it just clicked. The thing is a rocket of the deck and has set me up for many an eagle 😍. The rails on the bottom make hitting this almost like cheating, it just glides through the turf anywhere 😁😎

Definitely the user at fault for that round 😁

That's not the spirit of a golfer! Nothing is ever our fault! It's always the clubs, course, balls etc!

Interesting, I think that would be a super fun experiment for you and would probably work super well. Just out of curiosity, did you consider getting the one length hybrids all the way down to the 5 or 6 iron and the one length 7-PW?

For myself, I'm not concerned about the long irons, I actually want the shorter long irons, but I'm not sure about the longer short irons. I'm concerned about hitting the short irons too far, and messing up my gapping.

Yeah, I'm gonna need a signed doctors note to get you out of it.

If you love your driving iron, it can be very tough to bench. I know I'd struggle if I had to bench my 2 iron. I share your feelings about hybrids, but if these F9s aren't set up closed, you should at least not hook them.

I do think the F9 3W should be similar to the F7, it has the same rails and general shape, but if you are confident with your F7, it might take a while to be just as confident with the F9. Confidence is a powerful thing in golf.

I had 3 and 4 hybrids and 5-SW irons in single length. I still bag the 3 hybrid because it is straight as an arrow. I can hit the Launcher HB 4-6 irons well so the gapping may work. I had a lot of kick in birdies with single length but I had to be on fairly short courses to do it.
