100% agree. If a spectator can’t stand it, imagine the guys playing with these idiots screaming “Go in the water”

Now... I did want Patrick Reed to hit one in the water last Masters.... but I would never scream it out in front of 20,000 people and right him front of him.

No matter how much I dislike a team, player, etc. you have to have some sort of respect for their talents.

It’s one of those damned if you, damned if you don’t things unfortunately.

You’d have to hire more security, etc.

It won’t change I don’t think.

You start kicking people out and people won’t come to the events.

Yet they make it happen for the most part across the pond on the European Tour...

Must be because they serve Newcastle, Carlsberg and Boddingtons instead of Bud Light, PBR and Milwaukee’s Beast.

Yeah, not sure what drives people to act like jerks and think it's funny.  We have 2 holes that run alongside a road and, invariably, at least one clown drives by and blows their horn or yells out the window.  Some things just never stop.  

In the case of the tour and the alcohol-infused cheerleader, maybe they could just shoot them in the back with a dart that will stick to their shirt that has a flag on it that says "a$$hole".

I totally agree!  One of the many reasons that I love The Masters is they don't tolerate the stupid stuff.  Let's keep the tour classy!

I heard “get in the hole” about 10 times today, which is okay on a shot toward the green, not on a drive on a 570 yard par 5, or a 480 yard par 4. You sound like a spoiled child who needs his mouth smacked, and yes they sound just as idiotic in person as they do on TV. Why do these wannabe golfer, drunk         ...-hats have to ruin a good day at the course.

They sound so stupid. We were on tee box 9 today with Rose and Reed, and some drunk idiot on the other side of the box yells out “get in the hole”, and man I’m just like you sound like a moron. It doesn’t make we want to yell back “shut up you drunk idiot”

Same here - two holes by a street. I've yet to play without a car going by and either honking its horn or someone yelling fore. When playing with my buds we consider that a "car rule" that allows a do over.

The guys that shout this p!sh are not doing out of respect or their knowledge of golf but because they want to stand out from the crowd. i.e. they try to shout as soon as the ball is hit so they can say to their friends with pride "I shouted Mash potatoes you can hear me on the coverage". If that is what you aspire to you need to get a life.

OK let me play devil's advocate here for a sec. If it is after the ball is gone what does it matter? Every sporting event I have been to there are always idiots yelling something stupid, you just often don't here them because they are drowned out by the other fans and noises of the game. Golf of course is different because it is silent. But if it doesn't affect the play who cares, it is just some idiot wanting attention, do they deserve to be kicked out and punished for that?

If it is early then yes they should be kicked out and I get allowing it to happen runs the fine line of being early or not. Sometimes I think things just get blown out of proportion. And the players don't help themselves, if Jordan yelled back "with gravy" or "scallop" it is a different look.

I don't follow?  How do the players not help themselves?  How would it be a "different look" if Jordan were to yell something equally as stupid back?  

My grandfather used to tell us "It's better to be thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt!"  Saying anything back would only give those yelling what they want, undeserved attention.  I certainly don't believe it's getting blown out of proportion.  I believe the more attention it gets on camera coupled with higher volumes of alcohol sales fuel this and it's getting worse.  There needs to be a "zero tolerance policy" like at Augusta National.  Just my opinion.

JT getting that fan kicked out of last year for rooting against him is a bad look. Jordan could've just ignored him and moved on instead he reacted negatively, which is exactly what Mr Mashed Potatoes wanted. All the attention this gets is fueling more people,  they are attention seekers and getting exactly that. Mr Mashed Potatoes is talking to all his buddies today about how he went viral over the weekend. 

Dan Patrick had a NBA heckler on his show last week. From the story he heckled visiting players relentlessly, and the players even visiting players embraced him and acknowledged him and had no issues with him. In fact Charles Barkley bought him tickets to a game across the country just to heckle the opposing players. I get different times different sport different atmosphere etc.. but it is also a different reaction that creates a different look. The players could've reacted negatively and the results would have been different. 

As I stated I don't agree with them was just throwing out a contradictory opinion.

Fan behavior is exactly why I can't take my children to a sporting event.  Fans pay for tickets but they aren't entitled to act any sort of way they choose.  The key word being "entitled!"  I applaud and fully support players taking steps to remove this behavior from the game of golf!
