Tommy Armour Impact Series No. 3 Alignment Putter

The first time I tried one of these putters it was the longer counter balanced model.  It rolled the ball nice and pure but I was having distance control issues. Well the other day I was killing time in Dick's and decided to roll one of the regular length No. 3 putters.  Actually the 34 inch model to be exact and I was really pleased with the feel and consistency.  I had some money coming my way plus there was a 20% off deal going on so I picked one up for $80 & change.    I took it to the course for a round of golf today and I was grinning like a farm boy in a cow tit pulling contest!   Hey folks this putter ain't no joke and I can see why it rated as the top dog in results for the MyGolfSpy Mallet Category.   I still have my Betty in the truck and a nice two-baller however this TA #3 is cooking with Crisco and it's staying in the bag.   I feel  like I have total control on the face.  I'm a face balanced kind of guy and this putter's is slicker than Aunt Annie May's hot buttered pancakes!   Wow is about all I got to say right now.......

Bought one last week while I was in the US for business.  Was hitting a Truvis ball and was surprised how true a roll I was getting.  Will spend some time with it today.  Maybe it will knock my Evnroll out of my bag.

Hybrid - Titleist TS2 21 degree

The more I roll this putter, the more I am falling in love with it!  It sits perfectly behind the ball and inspires confidence.  I have much to say however since testers were chosen, I may wait until they start their reviews.  All I have to say at this point is it's a wake up call for me when it comes to brand name putters and putters that simply work very well.

Our regional store has about 15 lefty models in stock and wow it is a nice flat stick.  It sat a little open at address for me though.  However, it could certainly go in the bag.

@ole gray, great to hear you like your Tommy Armour Impact Series No. 3 Alignment Putter so far! I just got mine in the mail yesterday and am really excited to start putting it through some tests against my current putter (ordered the 38'' due to my height being 6'7'') .

My current putter in the bag is a Odyssey O-Works Red Tank #7 Putter (38'' length) and have been using it for almost the whole year I have been playing (I originally started with a discounted Wilson Harmonized Golf Putter after getting fitted for everything but a putter and quickly found it to be a bad choice for me after just a few rounds / practice). Once I changed to the Red Tank #7 I saw my putts drastically improve from all distances and lines.

So the Red Tank #7 will definitely stay in the bag for now but once I've gotten more testing out of the way with the Tommy Armour Impact Series No. 3 Alignment Putter, I'll definitely be taking it out for a few rounds to see how it performs in play!

After taking the TA #3 Putter out this past weekend,  it has definitely earned its spot in my bag for this summer and foreseeable future after having one of my best putting rounds to date. I originally thought that I wouldn't like the smaller club face compared to my Odyssey O-Works Red Tank #7 Putter, but like @ole graysaid, "It sits perfectly behind the ball and inspires confidence." I think for me the bigger club face on the O-Works actually created less confidence due to all of the other surface area I could be hitting it the ball on that's not the sweet spot.

The major benefit that really stood out to me with the TA #3 was my ability to hit lag putts within 5ft and then to knockdown those second putts with confidence. I also was able to knockdown some 1 putts from 15ft - 25ft which was harder for me with the O-Works putter. I felt with the TA #3 that I was able to better control the speed / distance of my putts as well as keep my ball on it's intended line.

I'm really kicking myself for not trying this mallet out last year when I bought my previous putter but am definitely happy I went out and picked it up now!!!

@ole gray, I did not change the grip but I'm in the same boat as you in thinking about going to a bigger grip. I have to head to the store this week to pick up a wedge I'm getting work done on and might use that time to look at some of the bigger grips. I'll definitely report back with what I end up going with and how that has changed my performance.

I have bagged the TA the last couple of weeks.  Was using an ER6 I was fit for.  Truer roll with the TA, misses are now due to reading greens.  It took a few rounds to get used to the difference in distance since the face is a bit hotter than the ER6.  Will keep it in the bag this season.

It’s pricey at $30.00 however we use our putters on every hole. This is the one I went with.

I am having pretty good results with the stock grip. So even though I prefer a thicker grip I am afraid to mess with it!

I could only get a 35” in the all black version of the TA #3. Had 6 birdies last weekend with 2 more yesterday. Like Ole Gray said, “slicker than a scoop of ice cream on a hot piece of peach pie.”

Just started gaming this (34'' version) with an Evnroll Gravity grip. First round with the putter and I posted a 37 on 9 with 3 1 putts. Given how poor I have been putting this year, suffice it to say I was relieved. It's incredibly easy to get on line. I'll probably use it for the remainder of the summer.

I put a new putter (Evnroll ER5) in play the last couple of rounds and I can honestly say I missed  my TA #3.  It's rock solid and my distance control is second to none.  With the other putterts in my stall, I don't see them standing a chance against ole Tommy.

Hi,

i don't know if this is the right thread to ask for, but anyone know if it's possible to buy this putter in Europe? I can't find a Tommy Armour website, basically no seller searching on google, only dick's (with is georestricted, can't even access the site without VPN). Nothing on amazon.com either. I would like to try, but i don't know where to buy it.

Thanks

Thanks, but unfortunatly the seller does not ship to Italy. i'll keep checking.

One question since you have the putter, the head feels "heavy" or "light"? i Mean i tried a Scotty Phantom X 8 and the head was super heavy, others are way lighter.. I prefer a heavy head but i'm open to change seeing my struggle lately (i've a very old Odissey Dual Force Rossie II).
