Best half way house sandwich I ever had when I was at Fisher’s Island. Have them just about every round now.

Golf Digest agrees with me as well.

In my bag at the start of a round is a 32 oz bottle of water and 2 granola bars. I can’t do anything heavy during the round but after the round I love some tacos or a French Dip and fries.

I never ate on the golf course until recently, and now I wonder how many times I faded down the stretch because of it.  I take a couple Clif or Kind (well, Costco copycat Kind) bars on the course with me and take a bite every couple of holes.  Usually just drink water, but when it's really hot and I'm walking (July/August here in Richmond), I'll throw a packet of Emergen C into the water for electrolytes.

WOW,  some of you are WAY to healthy.. For me it at least 1 20oz, Mountain Dew usually 2 to start with and a handful of Ibuprofen. Couple of Candy bars in the bag, Reese's or M & M's.. A beer at the turn if I feel up to it or another Pop.. then after the round a greasy burger, French dip, or something like that, and a beer or two.. Usually Corona's..  SWMBO understands... I typically just start off with a water or gatorade, then I'll grab either a hot dog or bag of peanuts and a cold beer at the turn.

I rarely ever eat anything while golfing..an occasional hot-dog at the turn maybe, but very rare. Water and some sort of sports drink, a few beers when hot. Of course, celebratory shots for 3 or more consecutive pars and naturally gotta have one after a birdie..! Crummy golf keeps me sober apparently...🤨

I have a 42 oz swell I keep on me and chug and fill at every water station. I almost never eat on the course, If I start to fade on the back I'll grab a clif bar from the cart girl. but an empty stomach tends to keep me focused.

The only time I drink on the course is if Im scrambling or playing with some out of town friends when Im just having a good time. I eat a pretty healthy diet so Im always worried about taking down a meal mid round and being messed up (if you get my drift) for the rest of the round.

While playing in Yuma during winter, I typically make shredded chicken or beef wraps with mayo/mustard/pepperocini and swiss cheese.  Add some sliced apple or grapes and a Kirkland energy bar and munch along the way.  I freeze a water bottle that serves as a cool pack.

I make sure I have a proper breakfast. While I'm at it, I will either prepare some sort of sandwich (PB&J) or ham and cheese. Then a banana, maybe some nuts or granola bar and a big bottle of water. That's more than enough to keep me full for 18 holes and then it's lunch time with beer.

I generally don't eat on the course, although I make sure to drink plenty of water.  My wife is the queen of snacks, usually some trail mix, a Honey Crisp apple cut into wedges for easy snacking, and mini-Oreos traditionally eaten on the 16th tee.  The best thing I've purchased on the course to eat was spam musubi from the beverage cart at the Plantation Course at Kapalua.

I've been on a pretty strict keto/intermittent fasting plan (42 lbs so far) so I'm just not hungry in the mornings as it falls within my fasting hours.. that said, I'm usually at work exerting no physical effort so it's usually not a big deal. On golf days however, I need to at least have a small snack/meal and usually find that I need to put in whatever I'm going to give out.. something with protein, fat, carbs, and sodium.. and yes a breakfast burrito will cover all of those important bases nicely . Additionally, non carbonated beverages are important in AZ heat. I'll do a homemade Gatorade.. water, apple cider vinegar, lite salt with potassium, and honey in a 60 oz thermo bottle.

the more I practice, the luckier I seem to get..

When I make musubi at home, I fry the Spam slices til crispy, then pour in teriyaki, so each slice is well coated before assembling the musubi.  As I remember, the bev cart had the mini-packages of soy sauce.

Yeah I've done it that way too. Equally as delicious. My favorite is a teriyaki and wasabi mix. Sweet+salty+spicy is my favorite profile.

I live a complicated life.. I'm a foodie at heart, have a passion for cooking and learning to make different cuisine and have a pretty accepting pallet.. on the flip side, I've been quite over weight for about half my marriage (5 yrs or so) and I'm allergic to most sea creatures so sushi is a very sad no go. I've seen musubi on food shows and ate and loved it on a trip to HI. When I get the hankerin for something that looks like sushi, and I'm on a cheat day, this is my go to. I'll also do veggie rolls and make actual sushi for my wife.

the more I practice, the luckier I seem to get..

... LOL, I was thinking the exact opposite. I am 66 and still in good shape and almost always walk. That is only possible because I eat healthy. There is a saying "You are what you eat, and what you eat eats". I only drink water which the body desperately needs it on the course, as well as off. Grass fed jerky and some nuts. Sugar and modern wheat are killers as are all chemicals in what Corporate America tries to pass off as "food". Sorry for the soap box reply but it is something our family believes very strongly. We know our farmer and only eat organic produce (we grow a lot in our back yard garden) and buy grass fed chemical free meats from him and his family. Not preaching to anyone here as that would be the equivalent of standing outside a McDonalds drive thru with a sign that says "This "food" will kill you!"  🤪

Every round starts with a coffee; Medium black from Tim Hortons or McDonalds.

During the round I’ll order a burger and a no sugar power drink or water at the turn.

I rarely drink when I play. When I say rarely I mean I don’t. It’s already hot out there, I would pass out if I had one.

Fun topic. There’s definite no single way to do it.

... Nice, I find cheating useful. It either reminds me of why I don't eat something or it satisfies a craving and helps me stay healthy in my other choices. Giving up sugar was brutal and I still mis it. Organic Vanilla Ice cream is a guilty pleasure cheat for me. 😋

Often times the cheats tear up my stomach and give me instant regret. Still, the juice is worth the squeeze and helps me stay on task. It’s all about creating good habits!

I’m lucky I never was an ice cream guy. My entire family shares your same love for it.

Trail mix or nuts, banana, protein bars ( i like One bars), also a big PBJ fan.

Adding a drink with electrolytes can help with hydration.

Eating healthier alternatives and drinking lots of water should help your game, especially as the round goes on and if you are walking. Its cliche at this point, but imagine your game/body as a vehicle with the wrong type of oil. Its not performing at its optimal level.

Plus I have found that golf is more enjoyable when you can swing without worry of soiling yourself... lol

*disclaimer*  I very rarely heed my own advice and usually settle for hotdogs and brews at the turn.

Cheers!

So for the Bethpage Inn it will be cheesesteaks and beer. On the course it will be amino tabs and protein snacks. Not sure I can keep PN&J with bacon cold for the entire 6.5 hour round.

So..... do you guys really think eating/drinking healthy on the course helps your game? I'm more than a bit skeptical about that.

I do try to eat healthy during the week, but I indulge on the weekends. I drink beer on the course and eat hot dogs at the turn. I seriously doubt that bananas and water would have any significant role in the outcome of my round. just my .02.

... Eating heathy is always better for the human body. Eating poorly is always detrimental for the human body. Combine that with walking a course and swinging a club in excess of 100mph and it absolutely makes a difference. That said, it may not make a difference in your score, especially if you ride in a cart and/or don't work out. But it will certainly make a difference for your body. Fruit, nuts, jerky and lots of water put my body in the best position to play well.

... My son was a first team All Conference DE in college and attributed diet as a huge reason he was able to play at the highest level. Guys that ate like sh!t on the DLine always struggled by the 4th qt. Obviously golf is not as strenuous as football but it is an athletic endeavor that takes peak performance from your body to play at a high level.
