Senior PGA Championship

Recommended Posts

Hey all, I’m going to share some photos next week of the Senior PGA at Oak Hill in Rochester. Tonight was the Fire Dept. walk through for safety hazards and general familiarization. I snapped a few pictures of the course just to show what it looked like. The vendor tent where they’ll get me for some gear and from the wedge between the 6th tee and 12th fairway.

Lots of rain this week. We’re hoping it’ll be pleasant next week for the tournament.

Today was gorgeous outside, a perfect 65 and sunny with blue skies. I had the itch to go watch and despite being the pro-am, hiked around the course with the big kid. Children under 17 are free and it actually worked well. She was so good and had a lot of fun running in the grass.

We saw Langer, Daly, Haas, Campbell, Montgomerie (who was paired with Suzy Whaley which was cool) but chose to follow Corey Pavin most of the morning.

What a talent to watch. He made some great shots here in ‘95 for the Ryder Cup and since then, he’s been a favorite of both me and my father. We’ll likely follow him around tomorrow when Dad and I get out and explore. Here’s a few photos from a really fun morning. Disclosure, the volunteers were quite vocal about photography within 100 yards of the players. I’m cool with that

I figured you'd be out there. If I wasn't going to Verona with the GF on Saturday I'd be out there this week. Hope it's good for you

I’m going to go with my heart over my brain and take Pavin. There is great value there and I always love the underdogs.

The few holes that I followed him, he was hitting fairways and knows where to hit it on this course.

Thanks Steve, guess I'll have to wait to see everybody in Binghamton in August for the DSG Open.

Wednesday practice round today with dad. We were hoping to follow Corey Pavin and were fortunate enough to find him as we were approaching the clubhouse on the first fairway. He was paired with Tom Lehman and it was pretty nostalgic to see them playing together. Nice ball flights and those memorable swings.

We then found Jay Haas and Darren Clarke. For future reference, if you ever get the chance to play with Clarke, take advantage. He looked so relaxed, having fun taking swings between telling jokes and lighting up a smoke. It looked like such a fun round of golf.

Went to the range and found Jimenez and Daly. Watched Big John take swings for about thirty minutes. One thing about John’s swing was his tempo and balance. It really goes back to the fact that he is flat out a natural talent. When he was done he didn’t balk when I asked for an autograph. He gets it, fans first, golf second.

That's awesome you got the JD signature. He's doing an appearance at Chili Country Club later today for a signing and swag sale.

He’ll fit in well there. Lots of good blue collar golfers who appreciate him.

Corey with a -4 66 to secure solo 5th place going into Sunday...5 off the lead...maybe the old bulldog can pull it off!

Doesn't look crazy overcrowded.  That's what I like about attending CT events.

Exactly. It’s just a better scene. These are the guys I grew up watching so it’s still a thrill.
