SPY VIP GolfSpy_X Posted February 11, 2011 SPY VIP Share Posted February 11, 2011 BEN CRENSHAW JOINS CLEVELAND® GOLF HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA – February 10, 2011 – Legendary golf professional Ben Crenshaw has joined Cleveland®Golf as a member of their tour staff, as well as a design consultant for both the Never Compromise® and Cleveland®Golf putter lines. Crenshaw, a multiple Masters champion, has amassed a total of 29 professional wins over the course of his career, 19 of which were won on the PGA Tour. Crenshaw won several professional events outside the PGA Tour, including individual and team titles in the World Cup of Golf, in 1988. He spent 80 weeks in the top-10 of the Official World Golf Rankings from 1987 to 1989. Crenshaw, who served as captain for the victorious 1999 United States Ryder Cup team, will play Cleveland® Golf clubs and carry a Cleveland® bag. "We are thrilled to have Ben as a member of our team," said Todd Harman, President of Cleveland® Golf/Srixon®. "We feel honored to have a living legend like Ben Crenshaw work with us regarding putter designs and promotions for our Cleveland Golf and Never Compromise brands." Crenshaw is widely regarded as one of the best putters in golf history. His effortless stroke on the greens allowed him to master even the speediest of greens — including those at Augusta National Golf Club. While winning the 1995 Masters, "Gentle Ben" did not record a single three-putt during the tournament while using a Designed By Ben Crenshaw putter made by Cleveland® Golf. Since 1986, Crenshaw has also been a active partner with Bill Coore in Coore & Crenshaw, a golf course design firm. Quote #TruthDigest
Moecat
Wasn't Crenshaw part of Cleveland Golf some time ago? If so, isn't this more like a "re-joining?"
BIG STU
Wasn't Crenshaw part of Cleveland Golf some time ago? If so, isn't this more like a "re-joining?" I was going to ask the same question because I have a Clevland Classic 8802 style putter that is marked with his signature an it is probably 10 years old or so I do know that it is the same putter as the standard Clevland Classic of that style but is worth more because it has "Ben Crenshaw" on it. Noonan
What clubs has Ben using the last few years? Has anyone seen the first putter that crenshaw worked with Cleveland on? that would be a cool putter to see and compare against what he consults on in the future.
