Those Hogan's will definitely make the cut for the conforming list in your Dad's memory.  Let one fly!

I would have loved to, except those and the others were left at the house when we headed out for Boise Tuesday 🤬.  Oh well, at least I remembered my clubs.  @PING Apologist #9took a day off work yesterday so we could meet up and play a round of golf.  He set-up our tee time at Banbury GC in Meridian, ID and even swung by the hotel to pick me up so my wife could sleep in!  We had a great time and he's a really fun guy to hang with. Banbury is a semi-private course and very well maintained. Plenty of water, thick/heavy grass, and a good challenge.  http://www.banburygolf.com/-scorecard

It took a few holes before either of our G410 drivers started cooperating - but they eventually did.  We chose the back 9 to try our hand at the Hard Rock Contest but we both shot worse on the back, so that didn't exactly work out well 😁.  I was able to dig deep into the bag and find a suitable meteorite.  Rob risked life and limb extracting his rock without appropriate PPE.

Alas, the two chosen stones.

I lost my rock to the deepwater on a drive halfway through the nine and Rob lost his beloved Precept EV to the deep on a chip shot on hole 18... may they rest in peace. They definitely made a different sound coming off the PING drivers.

We had a blast, drank beer, shot decent rounds, didn't damage and homes, and drank beer.  Great meet-up with a fellow spy and looking forward to our July outing in Spokane with a handful of other western region spies. 👍

@fixyurdivot  @PING Apologist #9 Awesome time and awesome write up!  There is no better round than getting together with a spy.  What tees did you guys play, what were your scores, and what handicap are you playing to?

We played the white tee's.  I shot a 44/45 and Rob shot a 46/50.  My handicap is 14 (unofficial) and Rob's is listed at 22.  Rob had what would have been a par 3 closest too candidate, but it was on the front 9 🤬.  I had one on the back, but it was outside the criteria.  We got a little excited about one of my drives being a LD contender... only to recall that some of you fellow spies hit 3w's that far 😁.

Ya beat me to it @fixyurdivot! I just started to get around and do a similar write up just now, but thank-you for yours and thank-you for putting up with me! I had a rippin' good time!

So to add to his post a bit, I was having a pretty decent round on the front 9 with 3 pars, but tried to submarine myself with 2 absolutely awful 3-putts that both came on par-3's..!😡 IMG_20190606_101727427_HDR.thumb.jpg.ebe670eb1c54e36bbf3f99df3d68bdf8.jpgI'm still a bit steamed at myself for that performance. Anyhow, at the turn it was bombs away with the 2019 HRC and I mostly played it well, but had yet again another 3-putt on a par-3, a 7 on a par-5 and after probably killing a few innocent fish on the last hole, posted a 7 on 18...😥. All day however, we mostly played like we were the only ones out there. We crowded a 4-some a bit in front of us, but no one was pushing us from behind, and he & I just played a nice, casual, relaxed game of golf. The course was in great shape and the weather was perfect! A great day with a great fellow Spy!

I have to tell ya, playing with @fixyurdivot was AWESOME! He is one heck of a nice fella, genuine, humble, fun to be around and a pretty solid golfer to boot. IMG_20190606_120519987_HDR.thumb.jpg.1e7dd38f337227c8f715a808d860dff3.jpgI really enjoyed his company all day and if you ever have the chance to meet up with him (for just beers even), you'd be guaranteed a great time.

I attest these scores as accurate as well as our HCPs (mine is unofficial too)-Thanks for posting @fixyurdivot! White tees are 67.3 with a 120 slope there.

If it was longer than a whopping 217, you're on top of the leaderboard!  Scoreboard has been updated for you and @PING Apologist #9.  Glad to have you guys added to it!

I think Rob may have measured it with his scope - I don't recall what we came up with.  We both smashed our drives off #18 and I think Rob had those measured as well.  They were definitely longer than 217, so if to be atop the leaderboard, even for a picosecond, would be fun 😎.

Yeah, both those were "nuked" from the tee and were by far our best on the back-9. My tracker app had me at 235 and Bill was definitely better. By eyeball, I had him at least 10-yards better at 245...

That's some good commentating on your round and that looks like a beautiful course. You guys from the NW definitely live in a beautiful part of the country. My dad used to drive a semi and back in the mid 80's he used to drive from Dalton GA to Seattle. I was around 10-12 years old and he took me on a couple of trips with him and I definitely loved the beauty of the area.

Sorry to get sidetracked, I'm glad to see that neither of you were harmed by the possibility of exploding rocks in this challenge. Plus, I didn't hear about any equipment damage.

Guys and gals, just a reminder---you can play as many 9 hole HRC rounds as you want to.  Best score for the month is the one that counts!

It is simply called Golfshot, and indeed it works with my Moto Z Android. I tried 18-Birdies briefly, but found I like this one better because it allowed me to enter all my club data in and has a simple "track my shot" feature that you saw here. I've only used the "free" version so far and am too chicken to upgrade yet to one of their subscriptions which adds even more features, but so far so good. Also, that day was the first time I used it mainly for this thread.

Picked up a brand new box of rocks for this upcoming weekend, Nitro's! 20190609_171931-01.jpeg
Figured for under $6, these high quality golf balls would provide explosive distance, great feedback, and stellar performance on and around the green. I think they are on to something when it comes to eliminating unnecessary packaging and passing on their savings on to the consumer.20190609_172116-01.jpeg

Tomorrow will be my first effort.... I may try again if they're are no shrapnel wounds.

@JohnSmalls, I need a ruling: does a Slazenger Raw Distance qualify? If not, I have Pinnacle gold waiting to cause some damage.

So I was just searching my bucket of garbage balls and came across a Molitor. Did the drop test on my basement floor. Good lord! That thing sounded like a billiard ball hitting the concrete. It almost startled me. It's there a risk of explosion with these things? Now I'll have to play it at least one hole.

Enjoy the round!  Regular Raw Distance is good 👍.  However, DSG released a Raw Distance Feel that is low compression, so if it's that one toss it to the neighbor.

Molitor cocktails going down tomorrow!  Is it possible those are higher compression than a Top Flite?

It is a RAW Distance, Soft Feel. How and why do you know so much about golf balls?

First 9 on my 2019 Hard Rock Challenge is complete. Unfortunately, I discovered on the first tee that I had left the Molitor in my car, so was unable to see what kind of carnage would come from a full strike with this ball. I played a Pinnacle Power Core Straight Distance in our league last night. FYI - neither "Straight" nor "Distance" are accurate descriptors of this ball, but I assume that says more about me than the ball.

My league handicap for 9 holes is a 10 and the rating/slope for the tees we play are 68.9/119 and par for the 9 we played is 35 (overall par is 71). I shot a 43 with the Power Core. I didn't have any candidates for long drive or closest-to-pin as my best drive was into the wind and a bit uphill and missed all three greens on the par 3's. On full swings, I didn't do anything terrible, but it also wasn't great. Strangely, my short game was pretty good with this stupid rock and how this ball would react around the greens was my biggest concern. I had a few really solid chips and actually had a 3/4 gap wedge hop and stop. Putting was decent - I ended up with 15 putts and could have had 13 if I hadn't lipped out a couple 6 footers.

I don't know that I can make another attempt at this. The sound was so off-putting and bordering on dangerous to those around me even though I play forged irons and the feel...? I hit a 6 iron thin and I think my hands are still vibrating. I also hit an iron just ever so slightly towards the toe and it sounded like someone hit the bottom of a big stock pot with a hammer. It was really gross. Who knows, I may change my mind and try again, just so I can hit the Molitor.

I had three people in our league ask me on the practice green, "why in the hell are putting with Pinnacles?!?!?" My response: "I'm playing them today." I think some of them wanted to have me committed. Even the guys who generally don't care what golf ball they play (within reason, of course) thought I was crazy.

Let's see some more scores get posted...!

I was able to get in a full round today with the Nitro's. Shot 51/46 at Waterville Golf Course. Couldn't putt if my life depended on it, I ended up with 44 for the round with more 3 putts than I want to talk about. I felt like pulling a Patrick Reed with my putter. Overall, the Nitro's weren't horrible on full shots. I hit my first tee shot of the day and realized I forgot to turn Arccos on, so I turned it on teed up another ball and proceeded to hit a shot off the bottom of the clubhead that rattled my hands. They were LOUD off the Epic Flash, felt decent off the irons and wedges, and a bit tinny on putts. I wouldn't game them, but they weren't horrible.

20190614_213054-01.jpeg.5ac5563a2abd709b12e999e1548d11f7.jpeg

For your consideration in the competition, I offer up a longest drive of 256, a closest to the pin of 13 feet (measured by Arccos), I actually paced it off 11 1/2 paces of a 9 1/2 golf shoe, and a back nine of 46 with a 20.3 Arccos handicap.

I play from the whites on this course. Thank you for getting this together, it really makes you appreciate not hitting these rocks on a regular basis. My ears are still ringing, but I'm thankful that they didn't cave the face of my driver in.
