  1. 1. Are you a believer in Stroke Lab tech?

Just read all of the Stage 2's and it's comforting to see that I wasn't crazy in thinking these faces were just WAY TOO SOFT. Nice job testers!

Hey guys, so as we wind down and cycle out a big shout out to the people that kept getting involved in the threads and asking questions of us so that we could help you. Also, for any of you who are coming late to the party and if I have any questions we'll answer those too.

Really enjoyed the Stage 2's guys! It's amazing how many of you concluded the same things and ultimately the same conclusion I had reached: they have something with the shaft but the insert needs work. I've noticed a fair amount of staff players are using either Toulon (no insert) or different inserts. The next itineration ought to be interesting.

Today marks two weeks since I have touched a club due to vacation. I was playing pretty well when I left, I hope it continues. I'll take this opportunity to bump this thread....

Any questions?

Happy to get back on a course?

I asked this in our PM but to anyone out there what is the one main thing you would change regarding the stroke lab?

I've definitely been missing time on the course.

The only thing I can thank of that I would change is the face. It didn't seem super soft to me, but perhaps a touch firmer? I think I would like a crisper sound out of it.

Great job on this guys!!  Reading through, it basically seems like it was the putter that was the downfall.  If you could put a stability shaft in your current gamer, would you do it after doing this test?  Do you think some companies like Ping or Evnroll should put a stability shaft in their putters with their face technology?

Great question! Looking forward to hearing this too - especially after reviewing mine.

I mentioned it before but I would love to attempt at trying my sigma tyne putter head with the shaft. As for stability I think it's different then the stroke lab and has a different target as to what it is trying to achieve.

The Stability shaft is heavier and stiffer to reduce twisting and the Stroke Lab is supposed to make the stroke more repeatable by allowing a heavier head with the counter weight by making the shaft lighter. I certainly feel like there is some untapped potential in the shaft area of putters so I would not be surprised to see other companies embrace it in some form (for a price, of course). I would very much like to test two things: Stroke Lab shaft in my Ping since I am so familiar with the head and a Marxman with a standard shaft, just to separate the face effects from the shaft effects. To me, those would be more conclusive tests, but I stand by my statement that the combination of face and shaft tech are legit and here to stay - primarily because of how good my lag putting and 3-putt avoidance has been with the Odyssey. Now, if I could only start making more in the 10-20 foot range, that would be great.

Hey guys, long time no bump!

As my season's basically over here in a few weeks, wondering if anyone wants to take my Stroke Lab for a test spin to see if it works for you. PM me a place to ship it and we'll see if we can't make it happen!

I was just thinking about this thread, thanks for the bump.

As I get more time with the Marxman, I am becoming more of a fan. I have started making more of the intermediate length putts that had been a struggle. I have tweaked my position at address a bit and it seems to have helped. With that being said, I am coming off two pretty bad putting rounds, but I blame one of the courses - on Sunday the course was in terrible shape and the greens were burned out, super fast, and had some decent slopes. I ended up with 36 putts over 18, but too many 3-putts for my liking. Then in league Tuesday, our greens were slower than normal and I never got used to it, ending up with 19 putts over the 9 holes. Almost every first putt was short, occasionally by a lot.

I really hope Odyssey is looking at the insert of these and looking to make a change. I also find it interesting Max, and maybe you do too, when I'm watching guys on tour who are using the Stroke Lab shaft, it looks like they're keeping their old putter head and insert and just switching the shaft up.

I hadn't paid much attention to the heads, but it's certainly obvious when they have the shaft. I'm going to look for some images on Google and see if there are any where it is obviously an old head - good observation!

Edit: a quick search quickly showed Francesco and Sergio using Toulon heads (old? new?) with Stroke Lab shaft.

Yeah, I was watching some Korn Ferry this weekend and Champions Tour and could have sworn I saw some old O-Works Red heads with Stroke LAb shafts

I noticed that's what Phil was doing when he uses the Stroke Lab.
