palvord
I'm not sure if you guys have caught on to a theme here, but the Cobra wedges are: Seriously. My first reaction when they arrived was: As a left handed player, my choices were very limited for degree and bounce. Thankfully, they come in the 52, 56, 60 variety for lefties as that is the gapping I prefer and am used to. On the course, I have really enjoyed the multiple options they give me around the green. I don't seem to have an issue creating my desired trajectory. And boy oh do they create some excellent spin. I have had to learn, and at times am still learning, how far the ball will roll out on my green side chips. It's a good problem to have. Over the last 10 rounds, my average distance to the pin for a shot inside 50yds is 12yds. I would like to tighten that dispersion up, but I am pleased with that for now. For the challenge this week, I was only able to get in 2 rounds. I played in 2 scrambles and then had to snag rounds later in the week. 5/23 is not great performance, a trend so far for me in the weekly competitions. I cannot blame the clubs at all for my performances. Overall, I feel like my game is getting slightly better, but I am getting my ass kicked in the weekly competitions. Case in point, the round on 7/5/19 was my best round of the season. I shot an 85, and had 5 Arccos "bests" that round. It seems whatever the focus for the week is, is the part of my game that falls apart. I'm used to not having all parts of my game working correctly at the same time, it's just slightly frustrating that it coincides with a weekly challenge. I don't have a good explanation for it. Despite the current results, I am grateful. I am able to play golf multiple times a week, be with people I love while I do so, and get to show off some gorgeous Cobra gear. The results will come. I know it. To end this review on a happy note, here are some pictures of sexy wedges! bardle
WEDGE TIME! Sorry for the delay everyone. I had a pipe burst while I was out of town and came home to quite the mess. So I may be forced to keep this short as I clean this mess up...anyhoo In case you didn't figure this out by now. These wedges are bad to the bone. I chose the king wedges over the one length set wedges mainly because I was terrified to use one length wedges but also because they only had one loft for the one length available... And I wanted the set to match. I'm gonna get straight to the point - I have never been consistent at striking wedges, I was terrible about thinning and chunking full shots all the time. These king wedges are incredible. I almost never hit a thin shot and I think I may have chunked the 50 degree once or twice but that's it. These things are accurate and super consistent. Here's some numbers for GIR% with these. I've only ever used the 58 for 3 shots...so let's ignore that. These are numbers are a pretty nice gain when you consider my old sand wedge sits at a whopping 0% GIR after my baseline and my gap wedge sits at 50% GIR. Here are those numbers from the old clubs: That's some pretty solid improvement if you ask me. Most of those short sand wedge shots are due to chunks which just don't happen anymore. Now if only I could chip. I need to spend way more time on it. I come in at a whopping 2/22 chip + sand and down. Ouch. It's not the clubs fault. I don't chunk or thin chips either I just can't ever get it close. I always severely underestimate the rollout on the greens. Please ask me questions if I missed anything. I should be able to catch back up tomorrow. I'm Off to handle this crazy mess... goaliewales14, Nunfa0, MattF and 3 others 6 Quote RH: Driver: F9 9.0º - 14g Low - Evenflow White T1100 75G X Woods: F9 3W - Evenflow White T1100 75G X Hybrids: F9 3H - Aldila Green X Irons: F9 One Length 4-PW - Modus3 Tour 105 S Wedges: King Wedges 50º/54º/58º Versatile Putter: Sigma G Tyne 35" Ball: Srixon Z Star XV #cobraconnect19

My last round I hit 9/14 fairways with an average driving distance of 239 and a longest of 292 and it still have me a 30 handicap for driving... What 30 handicap hits 65% of fairways?!? Anyhoo idk. The caddie recommendations are also subpar for me so far because of the lack of ruling out outliers like punchout 7i's etc... I have to punchout often and for the caddie to recommend a 5i from 140 out because I use it to punch often is kind of ridiculous imo... Bucky CC
All finished up with my rounds after a final nine with my wife and son while my daughter was in her summer golf class this evening. For the week I finished 10 of 20 chipping and 0 for 3 from the sand (ouch) for a total up and down of 10 for 23 or 43.5%. Shot of the week came yesterday during a partner match play event. Hit my gap wedge just off the green about an inch in the rough. Had a great lie and no huge obstacles in my way so I took my putter out and proceeded to drain the 39 footer for birdie. That was my only hole-out of the week and it came at a great time during a round that actually meant something. We ended up winning the match 4 & 3. Does a penalty somehow negate 9 fairways and multiple 270+ drives in the fairway? It did this same thing to me in the round before last as well I just hadn't mentioned it here yet. Competitors: @Nunfa0 takes his second victory of the season as he brings @robertson153's hot streak to a close. @Bucky CC gave him a run for his money with the hole-out bonus but was unable to overcome the HC adjustment. Don't cry for him because he's still in first overall. We've passed the halfway point but this is still anybody's game. Forum Members: Gotta admire a guy that uses the forum as an excuse to create an embarrassing photo of his child. Future girlfriends are going to love it as is @Wedgie with his new Puma Hat and Polo. Congrats on the win! Keep an eye out for a PM from me to get it fulfilled. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Week 5 Challenges... Many of the challenges this year are similar to last year but we've got some new wrinkles to introduce for some unique flavor. Various weekly prizes will be available to forum members based on challenges set forth. We’re counting the weekends as transition days (count for both weeks) to help the guys gather more stats. Competitors: GO FOR IT! In a new challenge for this season, the competitors will be whipping out their long game clubs every chance they get. They are free to play whatever tees you want that give maximum usage (OK to move up and back within the same round depending on the hole) and will be awarded points based on the following criteria: 1 Point: Hy/FW shots per round 2 Points: Chips within 2 feet of pin using Hy/FW 3 Points: GIR 5 Points: GUR Review: The competitors will also be sharing a 100-word review this week of the FW and hybrid now that they're putting them to a trial by fire. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Forum Members: Q&A You guys have done a great job asking questions thus far, now it's time to pump it up a notch and learn about anything and everything that hasn't yet been answered. 1 question = 1 entry into the wheel of fate In this instance, there can be dumb questions. I'm shooting relatively the same scores as when I played for the distance to the flag, so perhaps a new strategy is in order. cnosil, Nunfa0, yungkory and 1 other 4 Quote In my Ultralight Stand Bag: Driver: Rogue 10.5° - LH - Project X EvenFlow 60 Stiff Woods: King F9 - LH - 3/4 Wood - Atmos Blue TS 7 Stiff King F9 - LH - 5/6 Wood - Atmos Blue TS 7 Stiff Irons: King F9 - LH - 5-GW - KBS C-Taper Lite Stiff Wedges: King Black - LH - 52° 56° 60° - KBS Hi-Rev 2.0 Stiff Putter: - Impact No. 3 Ball: Maxfli TourX Rangefinder: LX5 Watch
