I'm not sure if you guys have caught on to a theme here, but the Cobra wedges are:

Seriously. My first reaction when they arrived was:
Image result for so hot right now gif

As a left handed player, my choices were very limited for degree and bounce. Thankfully, they come in the 52, 56, 60 variety for lefties as that is the gapping I prefer and am used to.

On the course, I have really enjoyed the multiple options they give me around the green. I don't seem to have an issue creating my desired trajectory. And boy oh do they create some excellent spin. I have had to learn, and at times am still learning, how far the ball will roll out on my green side chips. It's a good problem to have.

Over the last 10 rounds, my average distance to the pin for a shot inside 50yds is 12yds. I would like to tighten that dispersion up, but I am pleased with that for now.

For the challenge this week, I was only able to get in 2 rounds. I played in 2 scrambles and then had to snag rounds later in the week.

5/23 is not great performance, a trend so far for me in the weekly competitions. I cannot blame the clubs at all for my performances.

Overall, I feel like my game is getting slightly better, but I am getting my ass kicked in the weekly competitions. Case in point, the round on 7/5/19 was my best round of the season. I shot an 85, and had 5 Arccos "bests" that round.

It seems whatever the focus for the week is, is the part of my game that falls apart. I'm used to not having all parts of my game working correctly at the same time, it's just slightly frustrating that it coincides with a weekly challenge. I don't have a good explanation for it.

Despite the current results, I am grateful. I am able to play golf multiple times a week, be with people I love while I do so, and get to show off some gorgeous Cobra gear. The results will come. I know it.

To end this review on a happy note, here are some pictures of sexy wedges!

10 out of 20 chips?  Congrats, you are currently ranked # 201 on the PGA Tour with a 50% scrambling rate.  Satoshi Kodaira has nothing on @Nunfa0!

You wait till I perfect the putt/chip with the hybrid. I'll be 199 in no time 😁😎

Mate, that paragraph sums up how I feel about this whole challenge!

Oh and those photos capture just how sexy these wedges are 😍😁😎

Just had a look at the dashboard on the Arccos site and thought I would share this. Here are the GIR stats for the Vokeys and the King's. Vokeys first....

A nice little gain with the Cobras after 10 rounds with them 😁😎

WEDGE TIME!

Sorry for the delay everyone. I had a pipe burst while I was out of town and came home to quite the mess. So I may be forced to keep this short as I clean this mess up...anyhoo

In case you didn't figure this out by now. These wedges are bad to the bone.

MVIMG_20190506_180933.thumb.jpg.fdffd027194eb56f3585496efddd9d13.jpg

I chose the king wedges over the one length set wedges mainly because I was terrified to use one length wedges but also because they only had one loft for the one length available... And I wanted the set to match.

I'm gonna get straight to the point - I have never been consistent at striking wedges, I was terrible about thinning and chunking full shots all the time. These king wedges are incredible. I almost never hit a thin shot and I think I may have chunked the 50 degree once or twice but that's it. These things are accurate and super consistent.

Screenshot_20190707-164220.thumb.png.a39e5261aa47432b6dfd6f9a5496adb8.png

Here's some numbers for GIR% with these. I've only ever used the 58 for 3 shots...so let's ignore that. These are numbers are a pretty nice gain when you consider my old sand wedge sits at a whopping 0% GIR after my baseline and my gap wedge sits at 50% GIR. Here are those numbers from the old clubs:

Screenshot_20190707-164728.thumb.png.b8bf33927823a05b96314b9a3f4c3afc.png

That's some pretty solid improvement if you ask me. Most of those short sand wedge shots are due to chunks which just don't happen anymore.

Now if only I could chip. I need to spend way more time on it. I come in at a whopping 2/22 chip + sand and down. Ouch.

It's not the clubs fault. I don't chunk or thin chips either I just can't ever get it close. I always severely underestimate the rollout on the greens.

Please ask me questions if I missed anything. I should be able to catch back up tomorrow. I'm Off to handle this crazy mess...

Other than Robertson if you are faced with having to purchase Arrcos in your next set of clubs would you?

Yes, I would with the Link. I appreciate the system on and off the course. Would like to try it without carrying my phone in my pocket.

To be determined. It hasn't really taught me anything I didn't already know. It's fun to see numbers drop. But it's also annoying. My last round I hit 9/14 fairways with an average driving distance of 239 and a longest of 292 and it still have me a 30 handicap for driving...

What 30 handicap hits 65% of fairways?!?

Anyhoo idk. The caddie recommendations are also subpar for me so far because of the lack of ruling out outliers like punchout 7i's etc... I have to punchout often and for the caddie to recommend a 5i from 140 out because I use it to punch often is kind of ridiculous imo...

I've also had a rough day so I could be taking out some frustrations on poor Arccos right now. 😅

Interesting point @bardle, is it just working well for me because I'm playing well? My brother has just started using it so I will see how it goes for him (he's on 17)

All finished up with my rounds after a final nine with my wife and son while my daughter was in her summer golf class this evening.

For the week I finished 10 of 20 chipping and 0 for 3 from the sand (ouch) for a total up and down of 10 for 23 or 43.5%.  Shot of the week came yesterday during a partner match play event.  Hit my gap wedge just off the green about an inch in the rough.  Had a great lie and no huge obstacles in my way so I took my putter out and proceeded to drain the 39 footer for birdie.  That was my only hole-out of the week and it came at a great time during a round that actually meant something.

We ended up winning the match 4 & 3.

It will balance itself out with more shots captured. As far as the handicaps, there are sometimes that they do seem a little wonky. But overall it is pretty accurate. Any penalties in that round? Maybe go back through and look at drives to see if it picked up something weird.

1 penalty and 1 short tee shot into the trees on a dogleft left that I had to punch out from. Does a penalty somehow negate 9 fairways and multiple 270+ drives in the fairway?

It did this same thing to me in the round before last as well I just hadn't mentioned it here yet. It was also 9/14 fairways and 1 penalty and shows my driving handicap as 30+...

Any golf related questions out there?  Not sure we should reward lazy questions with an answer right off the bat.

Is there a club from your old set that you miss and what is the one new Cobra club you couldn't live without?

I'll start.... and throughout the 43 pages (so far) this may have been asked/answered, but since you all have these new sets of clubs have you done a thorough gapping test with them to determine your easy/regular/hard swing distances?

If so can you go into a bit of detail into how you've done it?

If not can you explain why not? (i.e. I already know my 7i goes 150...)

Don't miss any clubs from my old set.

From the Cobra set, I would say my 5-iron. I use it off the tee, and from all over the course from 180-210 distances and love what it can do.

I have not done a specific gap test for my clubs as Arccos builds that data for me throughout the season.
