Most of my rounds have been ordinary recently but I did have this bomb on Thursday night.  I knew it was a good drive but all I could think of when I saw it was over 300 is that I need to make birdie so I can post it in the #CobraConnectChallenge 3 thread.  Of course I then two putted for par.

I'm keeping my early vote for Pavlord in place. 

1. As a player with a similar handicap, recovering for birdie on a challenging hole like that is a triumph.

2. Approach shot to 2' from 170 into an island green with bunkers = Hat Tipper every day

3. Lived up to the GIF presentation with flying colors

The Ryder Cup captain at my course called me yesterday morning wanting me to fill in. We play 3 other clubs throughout the year, and yesterday was one of those days. It felt pretty good to be asked to play, then it felt bad when I told him I couldn’t play due to a wedding I had already committed to going. I give all the credit to the Cobra F9s improving my game enough to be considered for that. We’re talking 12 people out of the whole club, I guess I’m just wanting to brag a little. It is nice other members are noticing the improvement in my game.

I have failed you for the last time, I messed around and missed the voting deadline.  I normally would vote for my guy @Nunfa0 #teamHaka. But this unofficial/not counting at all vote goes to @bardle. Breaking barriers just brings a smile because it reminds me of my personal game. It was a blast reading those, fellas.  Last week or so to go.  Enjoy it!

Photos and write up coming tomorrow. But I finally got the first round ever in my new Pumas and Puma is bringing the heat with these new shoes.  They aren’t perfect but they are close to it.  Thank you MGS and Puma for the sweet new kicks!

So today after work I came the closest I have been to an eagle since I started playing with the beautiful Cobras...

As you can see it was two mighty blows with the 3 wood that left me this putt...

But it just slid by on the top side. Oh well, it would have sucked getting an eagle just as the poll closed

Those are two impressive shots with the 3 wood! Hate to hear you missed the eagle putt, but to have the chance is awesome. I would have probably been so nervous that I would have four putted.

Week 7 Recap...

Competitors: Eagle FTW, really carried @Bucky CC for this week's win giving him 3 on the season and an absolute stranglehold on the standings.  With another resounding win garnering over HALF the votes, Bucky has placed himself firmly in the driver's seat for this challenge.  It's not over yet but it's pretty darn close.  Can he close it out?

Week 8 Challenge...

Competitors: Here we are, the final week. There have been all sorts of unique challenges this season focusing on different areas of your game, but now it's time to put it all together for a complete round.  This week's challenge: Best Net using Caddie.

We'll use the same course-equal-net formula with a twist:  Players must use the Arccos Caddie recommendation for every. single. shot. outside 50 yards.  Standing on the tee, Arccos recommends different strategies so the competitors can choose their hole-level approach but must hit the clubs it recommends for the distances from there.  No system is perfect, so we're giving them an out, at cost.  Should the players choose to disregard the Caddie suggestion, they may do so while taking a 1/3 shot penalty.  

This is also the final week for players to improve their overall-challenge standings.  As a reminder, players will be ranked on the following for a double points category:

• Handicap improvement in each category
• # of PBs achieved during challenge
• Most total rounds during challenge
• Staff-selected best SM/forum presence

100-Word Review: What better time than now for the players to write up their overall impression of Arccos?  They've spent the whole summer using it so let's see what they think overall.  Specifically, they'll be commenting on Arccos proper, Arccos Caddie, the sensors, and the Smart Grips.

Forum Members:  Let's see who's been paying attention.  The winner this week will be the forum member that provides the first correct or closest response to the following question:  What is the combined HC improvement amongst our 5 testers throughout the challenge with Cobra clubs?  We're going to take the baseline handicaps and subtract the handicaps they established with the Cobra clubs throughout the 8 weeks add em all up to get your answer.  

Math example:
@bardle +7 @Bucky CC -1 @Nunfa0 +2 @palvord -2 @robertson153 -15

Total Improvement: 9 HC shots

 

Weekly Prize:  This week's prize is  BIG ONE.  The astute individual will be earning themselves ARCCOS.  Either the 360 sensor sets or Smart Grips....your choice!

All that needs to happen is, stars aligning, some ancient Mayan or Aztec predictions that say I'm destined to win coming true, a revolutionary new result in my golf game, such as the ball going in the hole, and a pinch of dumb luck and I got this thing in the bag.

 

But back in the real world, I'm just trying to figure out what kind of congratulations gift I'm going to send your way.

Dang it @GolfSpy STUDque!!  I thought I was onto something, but you didn't use the updated handicaps for the week 6 challenge.  I worked the numbers back and solved for X.

That's smart thinking.  If you'll remember, all of the challenges actually use the baseline handicaps.

Yeah...I was hoping for a hidden gem.  At least it did confirm my starting point for all of them.   There might have been 1 or 2 that could have been up in the air.

2. The opportunity to play with a set completely fit for me.

Edit: The chance to game Cobra. I don't care what my ranking in this challenge says. I won because I was introduced to Cobra and their clubs. If I ever stupidly feel that I need new clubs, I will test every Cobra offering first before other OEM's. Yes, I may become the OEM fanboy everyone hates, but Cobra makes a fantastic product. I cannot stress enough how much everyone needs to go try them out!

Two main reasons for me.

1. A fantastic excuse to play more golf
2. A new event every week to keep things fresh and interesting.  Seems like most years I hit a lull around July before picking it back up again in August for our club championship.  This year it's been max velocity all summer long.

Edit: I should give credit to Cobra as well.  At no point during this contest did playing feel like a chore.  It was a joy to take the clubs out every time.

1. The Cobras. I mean its crazy to think I got selected for this and even crazier to actually be playing with a bag fitted for me. 

2. The Competition. Its been alot of fun. Thanks to all the members here following along and keeping this thread going. It's been a blast. 

3. The Challenges. Playing with 4 clubs, Hybrids and Woods as much as possible. Its been a ton of fun and its taught me alot about what shots I can hit and what shots I shouldn't even be trying.

I think the best part of the competition for me has been the banter throughout and the successful run made by Team Bardle.  Oh wait....I'm not actually in the competition.  My bad!
