#CobraCONNECT Challenge 3

Just curious, so a question to all the testers. How have the distances with the Cobra clubs and the Cobra Connect/Arccos measurements compared to your 'self-generated' distance expectations?

Too early to tell on the arccos front, but for me with the One Lengths, good strikes are about the exact same as my old clubs, maybe 5-10 yards longer at most. The big difference is that the poor strikes are much much better for me on my old clubs, Especially with the long irons. I can hit a 4 iron fat and still have it roll out 160-180 yards, with my old clubs a chunked 4 iron wasnt going anywhere.

How’s the wedges fellas?

I'm more consistent with these than the Tour B's. I make better contact and due to the better contact, I'm getting the ball spinning back in big ways for the first time ever. It could be the bounce / grind difference. I play on a super firm course so I went with the versatile option. I would say they don't "feel" as good as the Tour B's but they are more accurate and consistent for me.

Wedges are rock solid as always.  I think my new favorite club is the pitching wedge.  It's the perfect club in the fairway or rough for any shot 125-140 yards away.  There's something extremely satisfying about a low flight 3/4 swing pitching wedge that hits on the green and just stops.

One of my favorite shots. Had one yesterday playing with my dad. Came up 10’ short but he was amazed that it stopped dead about a foot from the pitch mark.

Good news. I need to get somewhere that I can test a bunch of wedges with different grinds and bounce options.

I was curious about the wedges as well!  I was always curious how the "versatile" grind has more bounce than the "widelow" grind.  I've been playing around with the Ping Glide 2.0 TS (very low bounce) to replace my WS (high bounce) and was curious can you really go by Cobra's bounce numbers?

Honestly, I am hitting the ball further than expected when I see the ball flight. There have been multiple times where I have audibly said, "That's short," when the ball was in flight only to see it hit beyond my target. It has been a learning curve for me to truly dial in my "new" distances.

I've decreased my short misses on approaches by 7.1% as of today and increased my long approach misses by 3.1%.

(Approach shot stats)

Distances given from the system of yards to specific hazards or aim points have been very accurate for me. I compare to my wife's Garmin watch and it is within 1-2yds of each system.

Sick! The black look is just phenomenal and the performance matches. We'll have specific write-ups about each section of the bag throughout the challenge.

For me, the wedges are currently my second favorite part of the new setup. My short game has become more versatile in the shots I can take and I even feel comfortable "trying something silly" with them in my hand.

@bardle you may have already mentioned this before, but since you have the One length irons, does it feel really odd playing a longer PW and then using a regular length Gap/Sand/Lob wedges.

Well, I've never been a great heckler, but I could see this going 1 of 2 ways:  Do you heckle @bardle since he's the only One length competitor?  Or, do you heckle the other guys for going the Non-Dechambeau route?  Either way, there should be some pretty good reads in this post this week.  Fellas, good luck on your GIR% this week.  It looks like @Nunfa0 has a really good chance if he continues to play that 6,000 yard course as I'm sure he'll have some approach shots with the wedges, but it is getting colder in N.Z.  Also, @robertson153 has a really good chance since he was the longest off the tee last week.

There should be some good ones this week.  These heckles practically write themselves!

Forum Members: There was much debate (and how glorious it was), but I’m here to give you the one, true answer to the Trivia question.  I added some explanations for the ones that produced confusion.

Number of competitors [5]

✖️

Challenge weeks [8]

-Pre-chatter was a month and is also not a challenge week.  If we counted that, it should’ve been

➗

Total exclamation points in Robertson's intro [4]

✖️

Number of shots Bucky won his flight by [11]

➕

Total number of votes cast for the Pre-Chatter poll [195]

-Gotta add them up individually since the bonuses were added and produced a higher total.

➕

Overall HC sum of the 5 testers (rounded) [82]

-Basic math rule to add first, then round the final number.  81.6 rounds to 82.

➕

Nunfa's age [47]

➖

Number of holes that went into palvord’s baseline [126]

-Although he listed rounds, he also expressly called out the hole count

➖

Number of shots Bardle hit with his 5 iron [28]

=

Final Answer: 280

-Order of operations was built in so that shouldn’t have tripped anyone up.

CONGRATS to @sirchunksalot for providing the first, correct answer!  Wish I could give you bonus points for doing the math on Styrofoam.  Hope you enjoy your new kicks; keep an eye out for a PM from me.

This is how I envisioned every forum member trying to solve this basic math problem:

I mentioned it briefly but yes, the pitching wedge is the worst offender when it comes to messing with my brain...but it works, I hit it more consistently than most other clubs, but it took a minute. I was chunking it like crazy for a while out there.

Congrats  @sirchunksalot@palvord it was much worse than that for me.  Instead of visualizing the numbers they were flying at my face confusing the crap out of me.  That is probably why I came up with so many different answers!😵
