Golfspy_CG2
Despite some unofficial photos making the rounds out there, Titleist began it's official Tour Seeding this week at the US Open. Below is some official news and photos from Titleist. The new Titleist T100, 620 MB and 620 CB irons will make their tour debut at this week's U.S. Open, marking the first opportunity for players to use the new irons in competition. The three new iron models follow the successful introduction of the new TS2 and TS3 hybrids and U-500 and U-510 utility irons at the recent Memorial Tournament. Validating product performance across the worldwide professional tours is a critical step in the development of all high performance Titleist golf equipment. Based on initial tour player testing and feedback, the new lineup is poised to continue Titleist's run as the most played iron on the PGA Tour for each of the last five years and 14 of the last 15 seasons. Titleist Tour Representatives and members of the Titleist Golf Club R&D team will be on site at Pebble Beach, fitting players into the three different iron models and gathering additional feedback. Stay tuned to Titleist.com and Titleist's social channels for updates as this process continues over the coming weeks across the worldwide professional tours. JohnSmalls
This new naming scheme for irons is a head scratcher to me. Before TS1, 2, 3, 4 seemed to correlate somewhat with their iron names. AP1-TS1 for slower swingers or players needing forgiveness/distance, TS2-AP2: more conventional/ "better" players, TS3-AP3 distance focused/better players, TS4- (What would have been AP4/T400) Low-low spin/better players. T400 is rumored to be an sgi line which would not fit the concept of matching ts4 for better players and t400 for those needing help. while I’m not a fan of the name changes it made sense in he driver and woods to promote the speed aspect, I prefer the ap designation in the irons. But I do get the need to change things up and try to draw in more consumers. without any knowledge my guess is the t will probably refer to titanium and how it’s used in the construction of the iron and how they took feedback from the cncpt irons to make this lineup JohnSmalls 1 Quote Driver: PXG 0811 X+ Proto w/UST Helium 5F4 Wood: TaylorMade M5 5W w/Accra TZ5 +1/2”, TaylorMade Sim 3W w/Aldila rogue white Hybrid: PXG Gen2 22* w/AD hybrid Irons: PXG Gen3 0311T w/Nippon modus 120 Wedges: TaylorMade MG2 50*, Tiger grind 56/60 Putter: Scotty Caemeron Super Rat1 Ball: Titleist Prov1

Titleist isn’t necessarily Pepsi Co. but take a page from their book. Giving a product line a fresh look is how certain companies ignite life into a product. The AP line has been going for a decade and the average golfer wouldn’t be able to tell the difference between 712’s and 718’s. Changing cosmetics and offering a new name is the key to creating that excitement for the consumer. That’s the first thing I thought when I saw the pic of all three heads lined up. I don’t own Srixon irons but have been tempted because of the similar look between each iron line and how easy they are to make a cohesive combo set.
