MGS Officially Unofficial P.A.T.T.S thread

Welcome fellow Golfspies to the official Pars After Terrible Tee shots thread or P.A.T.T.S thread inspired by the Cobra Connect Challenge 3. Like it says. Show us all your incredible par saves or better after blowing it on the tee box. I'll get it started for us...

First hole of the round. Skyball. Followed by a thinned 3 Hybrid...then boom. Sand wedge and a 20 footer for par.

@Bucky CC will not stop asking for credit for this thread. So let's all give him a hand for his coming up with this fantastic idea. 😉Screenshot_20190610-175927.thumb.png.02a968a42ece6a6e8195b01ab20ff216.png

Since it's been a rare sight recently of a good tee shot I have plenty. But this was by far the best from the most recent couple rounds. Toed the tee shot. Striped the second, but hit it left then a good chip and solid putt.

This isn't the P.A.N.T.S. (Par After Nominal Tee Shot) thread.

With a slightly different score it might've been B.A.T.T.S. (Birdie After Terrible Tee Shot) worthy - dig deeper into the statabase @blackngold_blood

BTW - who is taking lead on the B.A.T.T.S. thread _or_ the truly rarefied E.A.T.T.S. thread for that matter?

While I am not sure what is nominal about 192 into the trees, I will try to do better this weekend  @downlowkey   Would it look better if I would have stated that the 5w on the second shot had a lot more slice on it  to get around the trees and back to the fairway then the picture shows?

If you follow me on IG you saw me block this drive right, not sure if this qualifies as PANTS or not, but 212 off the tee is pretty horrible for me, and I played my 2nd from the wrong hole:

I was really just twisting your leg as a segue to spur someone to start the B.A.T.T.S. and E.A.T.T.S. threads.

But the idea of you intentionally trying to put together a P.A.T.T.S. worthy hole this weekend made me laugh out loud.

I personally think a little play-by-play commentary would probably improve all P.A.T.T.S. entries.

Posted this last week. Pulled tee shot into trees, comes to rest in penalty area. Drop under tree, stick the 8 iron for a tap-in par.

No worries, I didn't take it any other way then some good jabbing.  I actually meant that I have at least a couple terrible tee shots a round and that I would go crazy trying to make par rather than taking double out of the equation.  I am not sure I could intentionally hit a bad tee shot.  I'm not that good!😆

I feel like I should at least post my P.A.T.T.S. hole after throwing such a big stink about receiving credit for coming up with it.  Hell, I'm sure if someone did a little research they would find out some kid thought of this about 40 years before I did.  In any event thanks to @bardle for starting the thread so we can all share in our terrible starts and glorious finishes.

I have some significant questions/observations here. First off, have you thrown away the 3H yet? I mean, you hit your 9 iron farther than it both times. Second off, of the 3H was the right club off the tee, how was it the right club from 53 yards off the tee?

Third, nice par.

I have this one from last week, the classic chunked layup off the tee turning a simple short par 4 into a nightmare that included a bit of everything including a happy ending par.

Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy

Taylor Made Stealth 2 10.5 Diamana S plus 60  Aldila  R flex   - 42.25 inches

SMT 4 wood bassara R flex, four wood head, 3 wood shaft

Ping G410 7, 9 wood  Alta 65 R flex

Srixon ZX5 MK II  5-GW - UST recoil Dart 65 R flex

India 52,56 (60 pending)  UST recoil 75's R flex

Evon roll ER 5 32 inches

It's our offseason so auditioning candidates - looking for that right mix of low spin long, more spin around the greens - TBD

I have another entry for the P.A.T.T.S. forum.  Shanked 5 iron off the tee (way to play conservative) followed by a punch out 7 iron.  I then hit my 4 hybrid 218 yards to 2 feet for a routine par.  Thank you Cobra baffler rails for that fantastic hybrid shot from the rough!

Yeah, I agree.  I drive the ball pretty well, but I have a couple of those every round.

#1 at my home track is a par 4 with water long and left of the green. I couldn't tell you how many sand/gap wedges have made their way into that water.. LOL

I would be surprised if I won't have the most posts in that thread. 🤣😱

Let's see... Scratch vs 9... I have to have 9 more than you, at least!!  🤣

Now where's the thread for excellent tee shots, horrible follow-up shots, and still making par?

That thread would be the most posted in on MGS. Guaranteed.

I had doubts that I'd ever get to post on this thread, as usually a bad drive leads to bogey or worse for me. But today I pull hooked a drive on 4 that left me with a second shot having to go over a tree, and I hit the green! Two putts later, and I can say I had a P.A.T.T.S. Par 5 number 2 at highland creek in Charlotte area. I just birdied hole number 1. Get to the tee box and decide it is reachable with a good drive. So I decided to hit driver, that was a big mistake, it was a nice fade that was really just a 40 yard slice and into the abyss. Take my drop from the red stake area in the appropriate place. Hit a nice straight 3 hybrid to the 100 yard marker area. Hit my next shot from 105 to 6 inches, easy par. The one nice thing that I figured out about the greens is that wherever the ball landed on the green it usually stayed within a few inches of that spot. I was able to just flag hunt all day with every club.

My second P.A.T.T in that round was hole 8 where I pushed my tee shot into the tree on the short par 4. My hybrid, it went about 150 yards, which left me 230 to the green with a creek 20 yards short, I hit the same hybrid to 5 feet, the birdie putt was 3/4 of the way down before popping back out.

It wasn't super dramatic, nor did it involve a penalty, but I badly and weakly flared my drive to the right - I felt my right elbow fly away on the backswing, knew it didn't feel right and am guessing I decelerated on the downswing. Normally a decent drive results in a wedge for me, at worst. A really good drive can be a decent chip if you get a hard bounce. I had a 6 iron from the previous tee box that I pushed right a bit, then a decent chip and a 1-putt for par. "Drive" was 190, 6 iron was 180. That just ain't right.

Had two contenders from yesterday but this was my favorite.  On the par 4, 14th, hit absolutely horrendous drive. One of the most beautiful shanky slices you’ll ever witness. Ended up with 210 left to the middle of the green:0E2B378C-0845-477C-8D93-F0061DA93A3C.thumb.jpeg.f3817feb9d5fa375a6234d95372d30e5.jpeg

After some deliberation on club choice I ended up pulling 3 hybrid and flushed it. Ball rolled just off the back right of the green:BFDBEFD8-4FD3-4068-BFDD-9666F111DAB9.thumb.jpeg.776455ff8b671e51f157727b3393b361.jpeg

Which set up a nice little up and down with the ever trusty ER2.
