Yeah that was wild. Hydropearl is the real deal. Crazy how much you could see and hear the difference in launch and strike between the two wedges when they were wet.

That's incredible. I have really been interested in trying these - I thoroughly trust my Fourteen's but I am a big Ping fan and I had many a Ping wedge back in the day.

Played in a scramble this past weekend and on the second hole we were in the left rough with a 40yd pitch shot.  A couple practice swings and we all had a face full of water and grass.  A quick swipe with the hand was all I did, although I remembered some testing from here or TXG that showed what a wet face does to the spin.  Needless to say, all four shots ran out further than we would have liked.  This will definitely be on the top of the try out list when the current wedges are retired.

I was already a little interested, but consider me VERY interested after watching that video. In fact, I'm more interested in a full set of PINGs now than I ever have just for that coating.

I will say the hydropearl finish looks great initially but it does scratch/show wear easily. My Ping i210s looked fantastic upon arrival from the factory but bag chatter and general use marked up the faces pretty easily. It wasn't so much at address as it was inspecting the iron face up close. This durability issue appears to be the biggest complaint among Ping i500 and i210 owners. Yes, the hydropearl DOES make a noticeable difference in wet conditions and should be seriously considered if you play in a damp environment/early morning rounds. I find the majority of my rounds in the early afternoon during the driest part of the day so it really didn't become a big factor to me all that much. That said, I would love to see these 3.0s in stealth.

I've seen the comments about the durability of the finish. Is it just that marks show up easily on it or does the actual coating appear to wear off that easily? Does seem like it would be a waste if the benefits of hyrdopearl evaporated (pun intended) over the course of a season.

I play rounds at all times of the day and will even play in rainy conditions on occasion. The i210s have bigger footprint than I'd really like, but I'm sure I could get over that quite easily if I did switch to PING at some point.

And yes, hyrdropearl stealth absolutely needs to happen!!!

It doesn't wear off, but it shows scuffs and scratches pretty easily. Like I said, it's not so much that you can see it at address, but if you hold the club up to eye level, you can see it gets marked up quickly.

Hi guys, I find the different soles rather confusing. I'm after a 56 and a 60 wedge. Would like a wedge that can get out of all types of sand and a wedge that I can open the face and play a flop or some gentle caressing shots. I have had a look at my local club and online and still can't fathom whether to go the thick sole high bounce for bunkers at 60 and an eye2 grind at 56? Any advice much appreciated.

I can't make a recommendation but the Eye2 was/is exceptional out of sand.
