2019 College Football

I'm thinking the Wolverines beat the Hawkeyes 26-20.  I'm hoping Stanford upsets Washington.  I'm praying that ND maintains complete focus.  Another cold front making its way in - looks like I'll be watching the Shriners and college football tomorrow.

I like your optimism, but I am afraid I don’t share the same thought for the Wolverines.

It’s one thing to stomp Rutgers, but the Hawkeyes are a real BIG10 team. Nothing against Rutgers, but they should be in a smaller conference. Whoever decided to bring Maryland and Rutgers into the BIG10 made a bad choice, mostly for those two schools. They’ll never compete much like Illinois, and probably Purdue... in football at least. Other sports, yeah probably, football... not in my lifetime.

Back on track... the Hawkeyes have had what Michigan needs badly. A steady coach (20+ years), and a good game plan.

It will be a great game I am sure, but I think this goes down as a Loss in the book. When the Wolverines even smell a little adversity they go into this really weird offense that just sucks, they did it last year against ND, this year against Army and Wisconsin. The last time they played Iowa, same thing, and the close loss to OSU... SAME CRAPPY PLAY CALLING.

And that is why Iowa will never be in the conversation for anything other than the B1G West title. Defense keeps them in it but an offense built to do nothing except run the ball loses it. Until Iowa and Kirk Ferentz learn to adapt to today’s style of offense it will never change.

Don’t get what the deal is... but it it’s always a low scoring game against Iowa... it’s weird.

Saw some looks that I like, but they need to learn that word Harbaugh uses all the time... execute.

Defense holding them to 1 yard rushing is good.

Not a bad game, just slow.

Technically I’m not sure we have an offense. I like to call it more of a lean with all our farm weight until the defense gets tired! Lol

A&M is the biggest sham of the season. They could finish 7-5 and still be ranked #25. Are they really accounting for quality losses the first week of October?! Good grief. Ah the power of pre season rankings.

Yeah, honestly I don't get it.  The Baylor Bears jumping 7 and 10 spots (both polls) is the biggest move this season

I think the jump is more of the polls correcting themselves from the preseason rankings and the fact that the Baylor defense has vastly improved...holding K State to just 12 points in Manhattan. Most folks expected 6-8 wins this year but we didn't think our defense was as fast/mean (when compared to other Big 12 defenses). Our schedule is back-loaded but we get Texas Tech, WV, Texas and Oklahoma at home and go on the road to Kansas, Oklahoma St and TCU. That road schedule isn't as tough as we once thought and if we can split between Texas and OU, then I feel like we can make some noise at the top of the conference. 

Remember, this is the same program that essentially lost the entire 2016 recruiting class, saw a host of transfers leave the program, finished 1-11 in 2017 (started the most true frosh, RS frosh and soph in D1 that year) and got rid of every coach and front office personnel from the Art Briles tenure. 

The Big 12, similar to the ACC, is very top heavy with 1 or 2 solid teams and another 2 decent teams followed by the majority of the conference which appear to be mediocre/inconsistent/bad teams. Anything can happen the last 2 months of the season.

The ACC Coastal division may be the weakest division in all of D1 football.  UVA has a heartbeat but are still likely a year away from being competitive on a national level.  They have quality starters but lack any semblance of depth.  Wake Forest is 5-0 against sister Mary's school of the blind, the Flat Earth Society, Midwest Community College and a couple high school programs.

Clemson is the only good team in the ACC!

In contrast, there is a lot of parity in the PAC 12 currently.  They are pounding the hell out of each other and records don't reflect rankings very IMO. I think several of those teams would give the SEC and Big 10 conference trouble were they to play regular season games.

*Disclaimer* this has nothing to do with Georgia, great team... but I am curious to see how far they fall. Michigan lost to a ranked team and dang near fell out of the rankings. Can’t wait to see the bias from the Associated Press

Florida now in the driver's seat in the East... For now.

UGA will still be top 10 since they beat #9 ND. I think they should drop to #10-12 below ND because you don't lose to a 2-3 S Carolina at home and not take a big fall for it. That's just my opinion and I've been known to be wrong.

The big 10 will be fun to watch since there's 3 teams still in the mix and Michigan a chance to play spoiler.
