That was a good Rose Bowl.

Maybe a few controversial calls... but a good fight from both teams. Congrats to Oregon.

Hard to overcome 3 turnovers.  It was a good game.

I did not think my Dawgs had enough players to hang with Baylor, proud of the win.  Thoughts and prayers for Charlie Brewer, he is a tough kid.  It was a good football game and     txgolfjunkie may have been right, we plugged in 4 & 5 star players for those missing players.  Depth makes a huge difference.

We don’t play the big blue bloods often that plug and play with 4 and 5 stars. It’s incredible to see. #3 will be a great back for the next few years and Pickens will be the next in line for physical WRs in Athens. Pay Kirby whatever it takes to keep him happy at UGA. Tip of the cap to Georgia and their team.

That was Brewer’s third concussion in as many months. I don’t know if he can last much longer doing what he does but yes, he’s a gamer.

But the "Belk Bowl"...really?  Am I the only one who has never heard of this bowl?  I had to look up who/what Belk is 🤨.  If we're going to spawn these contests like tadpoles in a puddle, lets get some good names/sponsors

I'm just gonna say that without Belk, I would be wearing just underwear on the golf course.  They have the best prices on golf clothes.  The really good golf shirts for < $20 typically on sale at 60% off.  Izod flex golf pants for $25.  Pullovers and waterproof/windbreaker golf vests for $25 or less.  Their Pro Line shirts and pants are the bomb.

Belk is a Charlotte based department store.  I don't shop anywhere else honestly.

Baylor's Matt Rhule heading to Carolina Panthers. It wouldn't hurt as bad if it wasn't for his hot garbage spewing from his mouth in regards to loyalty, etc.

It would make me feel better if he left for a better team...like the Giants. Oh well, gotta strike while the iron's hot.

Ain't no one loyal in this game...from the 'cruits to the coaches.

Maybe it was the Belk/Quail Hollow connection...maybe he read this thread and that was the deciding factor. The Belk in Waco is on the smaller side.

I think he handled things better than most college coaches.

When the NFL rumors started circulating, he called a team meeting and spoke with all of his players and said he would be foolish not to listen and interview.  He went about everything the right way.

I obviously can't speak for Rhule, but I know that I'd personally much prefer the Panthers job over the Giants job. Less presser to produce early since it's a smaller market, a better current roster, and a better culture overall. The giants are in the bottom 10 NFL franchises in the NFL in win % over the last decade.

Who are the front runners for the Baylor job? I've been having to listen to Miss St fans $h@t show of a search for the last week. I'd imagine y'all will have better luck.

Been a tough couple days getting back into the swing of things after the holidays.  Gotta love the "hurry up and wait" culture of civic government.  I hate dealing with them!  I need something to smile about so here's a story from Quail Hollow 2010.

A group of us went down for the tournament.  Rory had yet to win on Tour but everyone knew it was just a matter of time.  He made the cut on the number (+1 If memory serves).  He shot a Saturday 66 to launch himself up the leaderboard and into contention.  Rory was paired with Anthony Kim on Sunday so, that's the group we followed from the first tee until the trophy ceremony.  It was the most amazing day I have had on the golf course.  Those two fed off one another.  The banter back and forth was absolutely insane!  All in good nature of course.

As we were coming from the 13th tee down the right side of the fairway toward the green, we cut through a back yard to get a jump on the crowd.  When we popped out from the trees and into the clear, we ran straight into a group of rather large men sitting in lounge chairs watching the action unfold.  I politely said, "I'm sorry sir, we didn't intent to trespass."  The man stood up and belly laughed and said "have at it fellows, you're not bothering a sole. Ain't that right LT?"

It was Ron Rivera, Lawrence Taylor, Mike Singletary and Mickey Rivera.

We, as a fan base, are grateful for coming in and resurrecting (pun intended for the Baptist U) the program back to a respectable level in a very short amount of time. Not too many people could've done what he did.

Where we bought in was his talk about enjoying his life in Waco, having unfinished business, family, loyalty, etc when in reality, he was a hired gun and was itching to try his skill at the highest level. He flirted with the Colts after going 1-11, he flirted with the Jets the next season after going 7-6 and his marketability peaked this year after going 11-3. If he didn't leave this year, he was going to stick around for awhile. Instead, he's off to Belk land. He's got great core players on the team but they need to bail from Cam, imo.

Players are handling it well and I hope they make the right hire to keep the program on the north side of mediocrity, especially with TV contracts and impending alignment coming in the next few years.

We were paying Rhule somewhere between $6-7 million at Baylor. He's getting a good bump in pay for sure. Apparently Rhule called the Giants to see if they would counter and the Giants said no thanks...and hired the Pats WR coach. Maybe a good thing Rhule is off to Charlotte.

If we could've held on to Rhule for another 2 years, we would be sitting great with a coach in waiting...Joey McGuire, an experienced TXHS coach that finally left his school to come join Rhule at Baylor but only has 3 years at the collegiate level. He's our assistant HC. Texas coaches love him, players love him, etc. Seems like a no-brainer to keep the program on the same trajectory. Current players are recruits are all singing his praise on Twitter for McGuire, I just don't know if our AD is sold on him.

Outside hires seem to point to former Bama asst Napier at UL or Sonny Dykes (I'll turn in my Baylor gear if that happens). We've got the money, facilities and talent ready to go for someone who wants to be here 5+ years.

He had 2 mill a year in incentives at Baylor?? I didn't realize that he was getting that much on top of his base salary. Still.... I'm sure he gave Baylor a chance to counter, but there's no way y'all would pony up 8.75 mill a year plus another mill in incentives. That's insanely high.

I don't know McGuire other than by name, but I'm sure they'll give him a solid look. Napier (reportedly but who knows) turned down the Miss St job recently. Who knows if that means he'd go to Baylor or not but I think he's a decent hire. He's only making like 900k rn

I predict the Tigers will win the national championship and SEC teams will continue to be overrated by ESPN.

What teams are properly rated by ESPN?

It'll always be a subjective beauty contest with coaches, media, and pundits voting for the annual "championship tournament" or Final Four. ESPN just has the loudest voice because they broadcast the most games. Having said that, I think the committee got the Top 3 correct this year.

I'd like to see an 8-team playoff with every P5 conference represented and 3 at-large teams to accommodate the AAC, MTN, etc. in years they've got a highly ranked contender.

Welp, we've got quite a few years left of a 4 team playoff so don't get too antsy.

So why is it that the SEC gets overrated by ESPN, nobody else is? Is it because they generally recruit the best. Or because they have the most players drafted to the NFL every year. Or is it because they've had the most championship success in recent memory. Or are you one of those who subscribe to the theory that ESPN pumps up the SEC bc they are affiliated with SEC network?

2019-2020 Conference Bowl records

  • SEC = 7-2
  • PAC12 = 4-3
  • BIG10 = 4-5
  • ACC = 5-6 (If you count Notre Dame)
  • BIG12 = 1-5

Just a few thoughts.......Georgia and Alabama still managed to win their bowl match-ups fairly convincingly while missing several starters each.  Oklahoma had no business being in the playoff.  The BIG12 doesn't care about defense.  If ESPN is guilty of anything, it's trying to sell a narrative that Oklahona's defense was significantly better than last year.  It was not and that's absolutely not arguable!  LSU could have dropped 80 if they hadn't called off he dogs in the 2nd half.  Texas A&M was dominant in the BIG12.  They are barely a middle-of-the-pack team in the SEC.  Watch out for Florida in the next few years.  Tons of talent and a real head coach for the first time since Urban Meyer left.

Just my opinion but Ohio State and Clemson are on an SEC level.  Everyone else is delusional.
