sillycurty
What's the one club you cant seem to replace. I know putters are a popular answer so I'm hoping for other clubs. For me it's my 60 degree nike Vr wedge. I've tried lots of wedges, but nothing had the feel of my nike. I lost count of the all the grips I've gone through. Quote Link to comment
PlaidJacket
It was my 5 year old 2014 model SLDR. I tried a few times to find something newer and better, longer, etc. but I couldn't. And quite frankly I was perfectly happy with the SLDR. It was an accurate Fairway finding machine. I was actually so scared that something might happen to my SLDR I purchased another one to keep in reserve. Then... I became intrigued with the Exotics EXS. All the latest tech. Check. Good looks. Check. Price. Check check. I thought again why not. At $299 for everything you might normally pay close to $500 how could I lose? Aside from a change of shaft and a few rounds getting comfortable - the EXS is in the bag to stay. Hopefully for another 5 year run. MomoMan83
I have a couple of clubs that fit this description. I have only been playing a couple of years, but one club that's been in the bag almost from the start is my TM R580 5-wood. I think this club is about 16 or 17 years old but I have hit some of my best shots from the fairway with it and just recently a really nice stinger to get out of a dirt patch under a tree. I don't know why but I tend to struggle more with a 3-wood but my 5-wood is just easy to hit. The other is my Cleveland RTX 2.0 CB 52* wedge. It is my go-to wedge for approach shots around 80 yards and in. Easy to get the ball in the air and have had some pretty decent results on pitch and chip shots. Despite upgrading to a new driver, putter and irons this year, the oldies are still my favorites. What are your thoughts on them? Only limited use so far, but I'm a fan. Being relatively new to golf, having the same setup for every club really helps to simplify things for me and practicing with them seems to be helping me develop a more repeatable swing. I am even able to make solid contact with the 4 and 5 irons, though I don't have the swing speed to really take advantage of the low loft. From 7 iron on up I am able to hit the ball high and straight with some green stopping power, assuming I put a good swing on it. It's just an added bonus that they are really nice looking clubs too. I also ditched the Arccos and regripped them with CP2 Pro midsize grips and like them even more. I think on the Cobra site they market them for low to mid-handicappers with faster swings, but they have worked out well for me so far. If I had a handicap it would be high and 7i swing speed tops out around 70 mph. Only thing I don't like is they are lofted about a club stronger than my old irons, so I just have to remember the P is like a 9, 9 is my old 8, and so on.
