A bit of karma biting Lexi in the ass after blasting the superintendent and golf course last week!  The missed cut was their fault, not her poor play.  I'm sure this incident is someone else's fault too!

I don't know what a caddie does, I've never been one and I've never talked to one but it would seem to that he'd the first person she would blame.

Are caddies responsible for anything that goes in the bag?  I kind of look at that like his/her "office" and he/she manages it to the nth degree....

Her caddie is her brother Benji so that changes the dynamic somewhat in this situation.  Then again, Benji doesn't need her passport to travel, Lexi does.  In my opinion, take responsibility for what's yours.

Her passport, her responsibility!

Ah..interesting; did not know that!  Pretty easy to blame your brother and not have it blow up on you I suppose.  😃I agree with you/if it's yours you need to take responsibility for it; especially something as important as a passport!

She better hope she isn't paired with any of the 40 women she screwed over!

It would make for a more interesting tournament if she were!  But like slow play, bad drops, anchored putters and temper tantrums that damage the golf course, the powers that be will look the other way.

To be fair, most PGA Tour players/professional athletes have people that handle all of their travel and paperwork for them.

PGA Tour players make far more money than LPGA Tour players but I get your point.  I should also acknowledge, Lexi makes far more than most LPGA Tour players as well.

But personal responsibility has been delegated to the point that society as a whole lacks personal responsibility!

Sorry, but professional athletes and celebrities aren't part of normal society.

They have management groups, marketing teams, daily assistants, etc.  There is not one professional athlete with the stature of Lexi or greater that manages there own travel booking and paperwork.

Lexi's name is attached to the story because that will generate the most interest.  If the article was about her caddie or management group causing the issue, it would be far less discussed.

I'm sorry but I have known a PGA Tour player since he was a small child.  He most certainly does not have a "management team" much less a team making decisions for him.  He books his own travel, makes his own arrangements and is responsible for his own passport.  But knowing his mother the way I do, she taught him personal responsibility!

Besides, personal responsibility shouldn't be excused because you can afford to delegate that responsibility to a management team.  Maybe Lexi should re-evaluate her "team!"

I think the moral of the story is that 40 women missed their practice round for a major....

whether it was Lexi, her management, her brother, another player...whatever...but the fact that a single person caused 40 professional athletes to miss practicing for a major tournament is unacceptable.

I know it's the LPGA but can you imagine if this happened on the PGA tour ???

It would be discussed non-stop.

Stature doesn't excuse poor behavior nor should delegating responsibility deflect blame.

Having read the story I would have thought common sense would have prevailed i.e driver gets her bag (doesnt take THAT long to find the bag with her name on it) then leave the passport in a secure location like a bank, lawyers office or police station and he can continue his journey. He could even have paid a courier company or cab co to start driving back and meet her caddy halfway.

Just sitting there for 3 hours knowing you have 38 touring pro's essential tools required for the next day is just silly.

Or they could have all transported their own bags and not relied on one person. How many pros have had bags get lost/delayed to tournaments.

If she missed the cut why were her clubs being transported on Sunday? She could've easily traveled with her clubs on Saturday with probably no issues.

Maybe she should re-evaluate her management team!  I mean, they did allow her to keep her passport in her golf bag for some strange reason!?!?!  Which lends itself to a litany of other questions!

Damon Hack had an interesting solution this morning on Morning Drive.  The van driver could have simply snapped a picture of the passport and sent it to Lexi so she could then travel on to Switzerland.  🙄

I find it fascinating that so many professional players would allow their clubs to travel outside their own personal protection.  I doubt very seriously we would see that very much on the men's Tour.

Agreed - in what universe is your golf bag a good place to keep a passport?

That said, I also feel for Lexi - kid seems to have the worst luck and she takes things hard.

I'm not clued up on all the passport rules and laws but I seriously doubt border control would accept a picture of a legal document or there would be no point in the holograms and embedded data.

I'm sure transporting a bunch of bags like this is a convenience and maybe saves money, but if the rental truck gets in a wreck, all 38 players have to scramble for clubs at the last minute.

I would want my tools of the trade to travel with me.

I'm sure the arrangements were pre-planned before the Evian.  With the weekend off wouldn't you rather take a couple of days off and rest at the resort spa, dinner with your playing friends, maybe a little practice instead of going to England and starting back to work early?

Personally, I would head to England but these ladies like to be pampered.

No shot in hell Lexi is crossing any non-EU border with a cellphone photo of her passport!  Hack is reaching for the moon on that "hot take."

The short answer is Solheim Cup but it's a bit more complicated than that.  Evian was played in July from 2000-2012.  When it gained "major" status in 2013, it was moved to late September.  Playing at the base of the French Alps in late September means high winds and a lot of rain.  They moved it back to July but it is going to take them a bit more time to work things out with some title sponsors to get a few weeks gap between Evian and The Women's Open.

Solheim Cup has been played in late August, between The Women's Open and Evian since Evian moved to September.  Since Evian is moving back to July, Solheim jumped at the chance to move back to September.

In my opinion, trying to squeeze 5 majors between major men's events creates more havoc in scheduling than moving the Players to March and PGA to May on the men's side.

Same reason the pga played a major and wgc event in back to back weeks. Schedules get crazy when moving events around. Evian was moved from September to July to avoid weather issues that have plagued the event for years and now that it’s a major the tour and sponsor wants to avoid having to reduce the tournament holes played due to weather.

Given that Ryann O'Toole, who was directly impacted by this incident, blamed the driver for the delay rather than Lexi, I don't see the reason to label the whole fiasco as Lexi's fault, other than for clickbait purposes.
