Xcaliber Superlite 55 S

I was struggling with a Taylormade M5. I had the Hazardous Smoke 6.5 shaft and I just couldnt find a rhythm to it. I switched to an Xcaliber TSL which is a very light but very tip stiff shaft. That didn't help all that much. Good but not what I wanted. I was about to abandon the M5 when for the heck of it I tried the Superlite 55 S shaft.

Not really falling into my range of swing speed or my aggressive transition I gave it a try.

Right from the first ball it was a wow moment. Ball after ball was oddly straight. No hint of my fade anywhere. Out on course I was able to take very aggressive lines and have no fear and just let it RIP.

Feel wise this is a very smooth shaft. Yet it still has good feedback on contact. It has also giving me great distance. Flight wise it's a medium trajectory that flattened out nicely.

I have to say for a head I was about to sell it's been a crazy turn around. I have never had such a great combination.

Best part is they are selling for $69 right now. Find another aftermarket shaft for that price,,, that has this kind of performance. Not sure you can.

It was a shaft that I had on hand that was never installed. I was going to try and tip the Xcaliber TSL TS as it was close but I needed it a bit stiffer. So I had no thought that this would fit me but said what the hey.

I am a stronger player but like lighter shafts. I also normally play a tipped stiff or a TS shaft. So this went against my normal profile.

What's odd is this shaft feels not at all as light as the TSL. At the range it let a slower swing player hit it and his flight was lower than his gamer but it went further. He could tell it was a stiffer shaft than his Reg flex but really liked the feel. So aside from more testing I think this is a shaft that could work for a broad range of players.

I have some demo ISO-T heads that I will put this shaft in so I'll see how it does against broader spectrum.

Xcalibers are great shafts. Robin Arther knows his stuff, and their products are top notch. I've got a T6* that's one of my shafts for the F7+. I had a set of his ProX shafts in my last set of irons. I'm a little hesitant to pull them since I've already pulled them once. And I've played a couple of his fairway wood shafts. Good shafts.

I've always felt it's not the driver head but the shaft. Anyone can hit a driver straight, you just have to find the engine for the driver i.e. the shaft. I got fitted for a shaft for the first time and not buying one off the shelf this year. I was fit to the Tensei CK Orange low/mid launch low spin. I could never hit a draw to save my life. This was my first hit with my new driver and shaft. I only swung two or 3 times not even warmed up. After about 15-20 balls my club head speed jumped to 109-110 carry to 285 and total to right around 299-301 all while keeping my backspin around 2200-2250. Anyone can play any brand and any model (but ultimately it's a numbers game and how you like a particular brand compared to others) it comes down to the shaft. Also, fitting is paramount so you're not adjusting your swing to the clubs, but the clubs are adjusted to your swing. Obviously this is nothing new that all us Spys know.

There is no better feeling than finding that perfect fit of a shaft. I'm glad that I didn't do the initial session indoors because I have been fooled before. I have been fitted on a sim and not been able to repeat performance outdoors.
This shaft so far has only been outside. Monday I brought out in the round three shafts and was able to swap them in and out as I played. Sometimes hitting two shafts in a tee box. So this shaft has proven over four different days to not just be a fluke on a great driving day.
I am back out to sea so I wont get any launch monitor numbers for another two weeks. By that time I will have this shaft in the ISO-T Maltby head so that will be a fun comparison to the M5.

I agree there is no better feeling to finding the right shaft. I just wanted to see my data on a LM whether it was indoors or out. I was fitted outdoors on a Trackman for 4 hours by PXG. The numbers proved right on the trackman, on this LM and has played consistently in my last few rounds. I am completely happy with it. Good luck to you, safe travels, and return home safe my friend.
