Cut the Arccos sensor?

Recommended Posts

Has anyone tried taking apart the Arccos Caddie sensor?  What I have in mind is to cut away the green screw in part and then tape or epoxy the sensor to the shaft.  Crazy I know, but the current length bothers me.

The only one I had an issue with was the putter sensor for the PING Sigma putter with the adjustable shaft. So I cut it in half, enough to still screw in.  I don't  like the idea of cutting them all off and dealing with tape or glue.

The other option is to order the grips with the chip embedded.

When I got the Odyssey Stroke Lab with the counter balance, I could not screw in the ShotScope sensor. I really had no choice but to cut the threads off entirely and glue to the end of the grip. I didn't like having to do that as it makes switching putters not nearly as easy.

I have been interested in the arccos stuff for a while. I have just not decided if it is a benefit yet. For those of you using it, do you like it? Do you find it a benefit?

It's definitely a benefit, it really humbles you when you think you hit the ball deep, and doesn't let you hide your flaws. I would've kept using it but it kills the battery in my Pixel 3 too fast.

I bought a ShotScope last winter and then won an Arccos in August. There are plenty of threads on each, but some of us who have used both did a compare/contrast in the following thread. Personally, I really like the shot and stat tracking. Like @yungkory, Arccos kills the battery on my Galaxy S9+ so I use an old phone as GPS-only (it has always had outstanding battery life).

OP - I agree with @Golfspy_CG2.  Go with the in-grip sensors.  I had the screw-in sensors, now I have Cobra F8s with the in-grip sensors.  The screw-in sensors didn't bother me much, but the in-grip sensors are so much nicer to look at.

The data is a huge benefit.  If you use an Android phone, make sure the GPS works well in it.  Or consider picking up an inexpensive iPhone with no service to use with Arccos (what I do now).  Some day, Arccos will release the Link device and we won't need phones.
