Tool for Measuring Club Length

Recommended Posts

I am looking to buy a setup to measure club length (driver, irons, putters etc.). I build clubs and modify off the rack clubs too. I have a good swingweight scale now, and want to have a more consistent setup for club length. Currently I use a board, with a piece of wood on it mounted at 60 degrees to the centre line which I measure along (sort of inline with the USGA method I guess), it works well enough, but I'm wondering about maybe getting a more "professional" setup. I am looking at,

The Mitchell setup,

and the Maltby setup,

http://www.golfworks.com/product.asp_Q_pn_E_MA2010_A_cn_E_10026,

they are both in the $130 can (ya, I live in canada)

Looking for suggestions on other options, styles, experience with either of these brands etc.

Thoughts ? comments ? Thanks,

I use the cheap 48" ruler from GolfWorks and its never let me down. I just finished building a set and took them to my friends shop to measure on one of his tools like you posted above, every club was spot on.

Really you have what you need. The Mitchell Plate Ruler is set at 59*; it's accurate enough for every club in the bag. Your setup sounds similar enough that it wouldn't be an issue, so long as the ruler/tape measurer is situated properly.

Save your money and use it for stocking up grips or disposable tools like epoxy, ferrules, solvent, tape, shims, extra saw blades, etc.
